ARCHIVED Trying To Take Negatives And Make A Positive
Serielda posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
They say in mathematical sciences a negative and a negative make something positive. Well lets see if I can try and apply this to my current situations in life. At work I am in an mentorship progarm for computer programming as I want to move from a current job I hold to being a programer. Some of the things I need to learn is databases and maybe with having... -
First I want to make this clear, I am not trying to come across as a whiner, or looking a sympathy hound aka sob sister, that is not my m.o. However where I live in Louisiana food is a big part of get togethers, but alchol is a massive one over food. I was rejoicing that there was products like New Planet on the market and sold here in a number of places...

ARCHIVED Tea Recommendations
Serielda replied to moosemalibu's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A large and I do mean very large selection of "The Republic of Tea" is gluten-free, and I adore their Ginger Peach tea. I skimmed the topic and did not see a reference, but from my experience of using their products I can say it has been an amazing experience, 2 leaves tea is also good regarding mint tea. However steer clear of Relvolutions tea products... -

ARCHIVED Papa Murphy's New gluten-free Offering
Serielda replied to luvs2eat's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thank you for the warning on that. I had a friend who tried to encourage me to eat one of their pizzas showing me the gluten-free label and stuff. Bless them for thinking about me, but I was not so convienced, now I know to leave it well and alone, and that's a major bummer as I hear they are terrific. -
ARCHIVED A Few Kitchen Questions
Serielda replied to WinterSong's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When we re-did our kitchen for me we had to pitch alot of plastic. A good friend of mine who is a chemist had showed that while it may not be scratched temperature extremes can cause for it to asorb crap. when it came to cookie sheets we steralized them, but as a safety barrier we tin foil over them as well. A lot got pitched on those due to age and using... -
If it is a small group of kiddo's I would recommend Justin's peanut butter cups. Those suckers are a serious fave of mine, and have been used to bribe me into picking up extra shifts or doing extra work around the office that I'd not normally do. Warning they are a bit pricey thus why the mention if its for a small group.

So one of my other posts shows that I am being heavily urged to go Paleo post surgery to help me out after a big bag of crazy that transpired this past weekend. So please pretend that I am a newbie as I am when it comes to Paleo and fodmaps which sound very similar. Does anyone have or know online any info that will help me not be sitting up googling...

ARCHIVED Surgery And Dietary Changes
Serielda replied to Serielda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
An option I thought of, is certain days of the week I will eat strictly vegan and the rest I do what I am told. But before I go springboarding into that I am gonna follow up with a nutritionist I was given. After all I am only a computer tech/programmer and that is not food or nutrition. Something I learned back in school that struck me funny was a Dr... -
I agree when I first received my diagnosis, it was a hard one to swallow, but after a few hours of thinking and remembering how miserable I had felt, I realized I had nothing to lose and only good things to gain. Like some sage advice some friends had gave me was the first 3 weeks is a doozey then the first three months and so on are hard. I can say for...

ARCHIVED Surgery And Dietary Changes
Serielda replied to Serielda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yea, no doubt, a few local health and hospital places here are beyond craptastic, however we tried one in the city we haven't tried due to fear of costs , but due to how bad I felt, I couldn't argue hubby down, and surprise they knew a lot shockingly. As for diet changes I know I will find a happy medium, it's just sad for me to have to eat meat, I've never... -
Ok last Saturday, well Sunday morning I was in the hospital and apparently my gallbladder wound up being inflamed and had to be removed. More bad news, the Drs I spoke with are urging me to take a paleo like twist to my diet. This makes me horrendously sad as I feel it challenges some of my relious believes of harm none. I generally keep my religious practices...

As of late I am in tears almost daily, flipping out at my husband on the subject of food. I am like constantly harping at all the flipping rice he wants to cook. I know the rice dishes are easy for him as due to my work schedule is different from his. He works days I work overnights. I feel I yell at him if I have to have rice things two days in a row or...

Serielda replied to Harpgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
One night the hubby and I was watching Cloverfield and he made a funny, at the time it wasn't so funny as we had in july an incident with a local PF Changs mentioned in a past post but that is another ball of wax. So back to the cloverfield deal, in the movie where the one actor Lizzy Caplan plays as Marlena Diamond gets bit and they are in the army lab... -
For myself, cheating is not an option. IMO anyone with this animal knows better and would not cheat because of the hades it makes our lives. After having other members in my family test positive and then myself I flat out said nope, not even one nibble of anything. I've read up on things enough that I am terrified of things like cancers that could come...
