ARCHIVED Too Early For This Cold Weather
Serielda posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Last night when I went to work, it was pretty nice out, upon getting off work a little while ago it was getting seriously cooler. Am I alone on thinking it's too early for all this cold polar vortex like activity? I'm still reeling from last winter with the freezing rain and snow down here in Louisiana. So with that being said what is your favorite cold... -
ARCHIVED November 11 Is Remembrance Day
Serielda replied to psawyer's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
A belated thank you for the service that has been done or ongoing to those who serve(d). -
That has got to be one of the dumbest pieces written and an insult to journalism. If my condition is not real, then explain why when I in the past ate anything that had it did I feel so horrendous? Articles like this and shenanigans like people referencing fail-on's(Fallon intentionally misspelled), theatrics agrivate the heck out of me. But there is no...

ARCHIVED Tazo Tea - All Flavors Gluten Free
Serielda replied to jennavive00's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sweet! By chance does this apply to their holiday teas if so I am going to be soooo happy. The only problem is now, I have fallen in love with two leaf's teas and the Republic of tea and gypsy teas gluten-free versions that seriously rock. But great to know for when I'm out and about. -
Blessed Mommy, My last and semi recent visit to an er and hospital, I was allowed to order gluten-free with no questions. The facility I went to was one of the bigger well know hospitals that even got the whole gluten-free thing with me they even had a separate kitchen to ensure cc was minimized the best they could. They even double checked meds and antibiotics...

ARCHIVED My Life Just Got 100% Easier
Serielda replied to julissa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Bartfull, They are quite handy indeed. For instance the larger ones like Julissa has and I want, you can make jerky's to kale chips and well fruits. I also want one to dry herbs like basil, and peppermint and such to make quick teas and such so I know they are good and safe. I have that at the top of my holiday wish list. My mil has one but I declined it... -
ARCHIVED My Life Just Got 100% Easier
Serielda replied to julissa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Awesome, and happy birthday. As for that dehydrator that sounds awesome. Did you get one of those smaller round ones or the nice big square one. I want one of the bigger square ones. They had one I loved at a cabbala's of all places in a neighboring town. Kinda Jealous as I have been wanting one of those. -
ARCHIVED Sweedish Bitters?
Serielda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was recently recommended to look into sweetish bitters, due to some recent ongoings (past posts on surgery) and I bought them, but quite nervous to try them. The box says to put them in fruit juice or peppermint or camomile tea. Anyone use these in the past, I did research them extensively the brand I bought and they was gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Trouble With Aleve?
Serielda replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I remember having an allergic reaction to Aleve back in 2003, I learned one of it's inactive ingredients and me was not a match. I know another acquaintance of mine who is not a celiac or gluten intolerant can not take it either, we both do share a cardinal commonality and that is allergies to kiwi. -
ARCHIVED 5 Months Out The Good, Bad And The Ugly.
Serielda replied to Serielda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Trust me Paleo was not my first choice, as I was very happy with how things was before the radical and sweeping changes as I call it. The Dr. who did my surgery and follow up states he wants me off of rice, due to possible cc concerns. I have a friend who is a GI in Ohio who when I asked her about it, she said her self she implores patients to drop quinoa... -
ARCHIVED Yay For Findings!
Serielda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
After a hunt for a gluten-free lip balm I found one by EoS, it appears to be just one so far and it's like a pink stripped egg looking thing and it's box is clearly marked. Also I did find target is making some of its up and up brand meds gluten-free. Just happy these things are available and marked. -
Ok first time cooking a real Turkey and I am super nervous. any tips would be sweet as I' know zero about this. I know you have to baste them but with what and how long does say an 8 lb bird go for. Also if anyone knows a stuffing alternative that doesn't have corn, rice or quinoa is also doubly appreciated as to me there must be something that resembles...

ARCHIVED Mucus Problems And Exercise
Serielda replied to rgarton's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with admin, when starting out to try and get more exercise in, I had issues, not good ones for sure. I also had the mucus issue and wound up tearing a couple leg muscles. Once back in the game I started to take things slow and found better results. Also if you smoke or recently quit mucus can be a real annoyance with that when working out, not trying... -
ARCHIVED 5 Months Out The Good, Bad And The Ugly.
Serielda posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'd like to think up until this point I've been a champ with things until my dr. Took me off my vegan diet, stating grains in general was causing issues. I inquired about quinoa and rice and he stated even those had to go. This has thrown a huge monkey wrench in my life, I feel. The dr. Was concerned regarding the other grains after I had a unwelcome surgery... -

Serielda replied to Alex J's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not eaten McDonalds, Burger King or any of those joints in 8 years, this also includes pre diagnosis years.post diagnosis I avoid eating out if at all possible. We have a place by our house we go to and have found a server who takes us when we come in, after hearing about my condition, and each time we have gone,(it's not been a whole lot) no incidents... -

ARCHIVED Dealing With The Fatigue And Head Fog?
Serielda replied to Magister Mundi's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know and hate brain fog as much as the next poster here. My go to's is like most filling food, light walks in open air . Outside of that strong aromatics, while I don't do coffee the smell seems to help me. -
ARCHIVED Apples, Really That Is Weird.
Serielda replied to Serielda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Confirmed salad dressing had zero gluten in it, as there was no dressing. I honestly think it was the apples, as it is the only thing that makes since. Thanks to everyone for your help. quote name="gilligan" post="933003" timestamp="1413756999"]Yes, I have a problem with apples. Last year, I could eat them just fine. I have been on the FodMap diet as... -

ARCHIVED Apples, Really That Is Weird.
Serielda replied to Serielda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've noticed, there is never a dull moment, and two your baking and cooking skills become awesome over time. This is coming from a woman who lives in the server room in IT that boasted, I can fix your xbox, cellphone and computer but do not ask me to cook for the love of god. In a way its a good thing to know how as your not getting the franked crap that is... -
Ever since I knew I had Celiac's disease I have not cheated once, accidentally gluten a few times but I've been an real good girl. All that being said, some posts ago I had a trip to the er where they performed gall bladder removal surgery, and things got interesting. I was relieved the hospital did know a bit on celiacs unlike the horrid clinic visit I had...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Ebola - South Park Episode
Serielda replied to moosemalibu's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I at first was a bit apprehensive to watch it, and tragically due to most people making fun of this nightmare. However I did lol at that show many times. Namely the lab with the rats. If you listen closely with headphones, one of the rats I swear squeaks out a help me ala the fly movie style. The hubby also found it funny, he still giggles at that one... -
