That's how you do the initial seasoning. Don't wash with soap!! It takes off the seasoning! Just rinse and dry with paper towels.
When I cook, I put the skillet on the burner and put some oil in it, real oil, not spray stuff. I let the skillet heat up so it expands and absorbs the oil, but not too hot so you don't burn the oil. Then I cook whatever I'm cooking. When I'm finished, I leave the pan on the stove, but turn off the stove ... I scrape the pan while it's still hot. There's usually oil still in it, so it also absorbs the oil while it cools. When it's cool, I just rinse and dry out with a paper towel.
If I make something that needs scrubbing, then I rub some oil onto it after I dry it, but it doesn't need that if I didn't scrub it.
The more you use it, the better it gets. If it gets stuck on food, you're actually supposed to use coarse ground salt for scrubbing. But using soap, undoes it all. I don't even use soap if I scrub it.
I don't believe any of this would cause a mold issue ... I don't see how it would.
Thank you! I was thinking that tiny bits of food might get missed and cause mold, I'll try it your way for a while.
We're leaving for NY in the morning, so I won't be around much for a couple days.Oooh, hope you have a great time!
I'm getting me some Le Creuset!!Whoever thought this McDonalds loving girl would eventually be spending time in the kitchen...cooking??? ....and now this....fancy cookware with a name I cant even pronounce!!
What the heck??? Could life possibly get any stranger??
I trip out reading my own posts sometimes....the scientificness of it all....WTH??....I really wasnt so nerdily before.
You and me both...haven't got the fancy cookware yet, but I just asked how to season a pan!
I always enjoy reading your posts (along with everyone else's) and appreciate the time everyone takes posting.Ditto!

I've been trying to look for some decent cookware cuz I have teflon and aluminum stuff now. I dont think this is good for me considering I cook everything and I'm already dealing with heavy metal toxicity.
I used mostly stainless steel...not to bad to clean if you put water in it while it's still screaming hot...all the stuck on stuff comes right off. I pulled out my little cast iron frying pan a couple of weeks ago after Carla said something about using it. So far it's been pretty easy to use...hot handle though.
I stopped using aluminum a long time ago, but was buying non-stick coated stainless steel...that coating stuff just can't be good for us.
I have a small Le Creuset skillet, but I prefer the regular cast iron. It's easy, easy, easy ...once you get it seasoned properly.Speaking of which...how do you season it properly, lol. I put oil in it and heated it up, then wiped the oil out with a paper towel. I do wash mine with soap and when I'm done I spray a little olive oil cooking spray on there while it's still warm...then wipe the excess out with a paper towel...that seems to be working okay. I'm afraid to NOT use soap because of the mold issue.
That's probably me being neurotic, but I can't get it out of my head.
Have fun creating your spreadsheet.Spreadsheet done. Sort of. Will probably change another 10 times before it's done.
In the packet my doc gave me, he said to get rid of bird feeding because it can attract the deer ticksYikes!!! Who knew!

Derek was appointed Chief, but at the end told Richard that he wasn't ready for the job, and that he (Richard) should stay and keep the job himself.
...
After George failed the exam and was cleaning out his locker, the new batch of interns came in. One of them is Meredith's half-sister--who was the girl Derek was flirting with at the bar.
Wow!!! Does Meredith have two half-sisters? Cuz that didn't look like the girl who came to get the dad the day he told Meredith he didn't want her to come to the wedding. Wow, what a tangled web...

This might also explain why so many of us felt better with gluten removed from our diets ... it took the burden off the immune system so it could better handle the Lyme.
Yes, I think this helped me a BUNCH!!! I think I might have been much worse off if I hadn't done that... I think also, the three years of antibiotics took the edge off too.
Donna, ROFL! Are you sure you don't want to watch it online?George left and will not redo his residency.
Burk walked up the aisle to Christina and said he wasn't going to marry her since she didn't want it, if he really loved her, he'd give her what she wants ... then he left, when she got back to the apt. all his stuff was gone.
McDreamy told the chief that he should stay the chief.
What's her name (sorry, Lyme brain), the redhead OB, told what's his face to go back to Ava, and he tried but she was gone.
Oh thank you!!
I thought about watching online, but I only have a dial-up connection here and I suspect the delays would drive me batty! I'd have to wait until Monday to find out, don't worry...it won't ruin it...remember, I like to read the last page of a book first.
-
That would defeat the purpose!
The idea is to get saliva in your gut ... it helps digestion ... that's why people who aren't gluten intolerant often feel better if they eat crackers .... pretzels work just as well ... anything dry that gets saliva to the tummy.
Oh yeah...now see, here's the perfect usage for the headbanging smilie!!!!!

Oh she did say that my energy was very low...she had to keep wetting my hand.
My mom said I looked pale and tired...moreso than normal.
I'm going to go crawl up on the couch now and watch Music & Lyrics.
Oh, and will someone who watched Grey's anatomy tell me what happened, lol. My recorder cut off at about 1 hour and 7 minutes...so I saw the part where Christina is ready to walk down the aisle but realizes she scrubbed in and washed her vows off her hand. Meredith is telling her she will kick her butt if she doesn't go down the aisle... George didn't pass and whatshername didn't make chief resident but Callie did. Who the heck made big Chief? Did Christina go down the aisle, lol. What else happened? Who left?

Well I had my weekly BioSET session today. I had Anna herself which was great because I took in all my labs from Dr. S. I was also able to get her to test some of the stuff he wants me to take and it all tested okay and at the same dosages that he wants me at.
She was dismayed at my elements results and so SHE gave me a bunch MORE stuff to take. Good golly molly...I'll be making a spreadsheet later today.
I think at some point I'm going to show a list to her of what I'm taking already, lol. I DID make a list for Dr. S but I don't think he's studied it.
It requires some reading time.
She was also dismayed at the mold issue. She asked (and she's the second one by the way--Dr. Carrie also asked) what he was giving me for it. I don't know.
I'm taking so much stuff...I'm not sure what's for what anymore.
Other than that, nothing much to report. She doesn't say a lot while we're going through the stuff. We did TONS of panels, but my glass was small today which was great...we did foods...all of what we did last week had to be repeated plus she had more new panels.

Ok, I just took some. Icky, icky, icky!!!
Mitch gave me about half of an 1/8th of a teaspoon.
Yes, quite icky indeed!!! I was taking a teaspoon twice a day and, well, yuck!!
I finally started mixing it in my supplement cocktail in the morning and in my protein shake in the evening. I don't think that's the ideal way to take it, but, well, YUCK!
I didnt get home till 4 and I realized I'd been up 24 hours and not feeling totally whacked out!! Usually whenever I'd stay up that long my body would start to become very symptomatic. Last night it was only my eyes getting a little sensitive and having trouble seeing in the dark. Other than that I felt pretty good!!I dont feel like I have a hangover today.
I've also had less sleep than normal all week....so I would have expected to not be able to handle staying up that late. Maybe the candida stuff is working.
I know I'm killing the stuff but I wont get into details about that...TMI....TMI...TMI..
Wow, this is really truly amazing!!! Exciting even!
There is no such thing as TMI here by the way!
Donna....I TOTALLY want a head banging emoticon!! I would wear that one out.....poor little guy would have quite the headache.Yeah, mine might have permanent head dents.
My Birthday is coming up and I gotta think of something fun to do...but I'm scared to get out and do stuff.I think the more I get candida under control the less apprehensive I'll be to just get out and be adventurous...but I dont know if I can get rid of enough of it before my b-day gets here.
Mine is coming up next month...I already know what I'll be doing, lol. My mom and aunt will take me out to Carl's Jr. (which I seem to have good luck at) and my friends will take me to Outback (another place I have good luck at)--just ate there on Tuesday.
Another thing, I just remembered that at a certain point where I was so ill I was melting that I decided to treat my stomach like a "new baby" and would only feed it what I would feed a baby, i.e. gentle foods. I combined that with a diet for ulcers and stayed away from anything acidic, peels on anything, I quit eating green peas for that reason, no pepper.... and that seemed to help too.Yes, this is a great idea. Dr. S really wants me to chew my food a long time and eat slowly...I joked with my mom today that I'm just going to start grinding it all up in a blender.
That or eat baby food...
I'm here! Reading along, catching up with everyone. Can I just say that I love this avatar of yours...which one is you? I was thinking the one on the right looks a bit like me when I was that age, lol.
That is great, glad you had fun at the movies though I can't imagine why anyone volunteers to be frightened....
I'm wondering how Laura is doing.
Ditto on both!

Does it matter if you take chlorella with or without food?
The bottle I have says to take it before meals...doesn't say how long before, just before, so I take it right before I eat when I take it. I need to try it again one of these days.

I have been looking for Himalayan salt but can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions? Love and happy saturday to all!
Happy Saturday to you too. I found my Himalayan salt at Whole Foods, so maybe Wild Oats or other health food store would have it.
This emoticon rule is HEINOUS!I think we should petition Scott. What do you think? Maybe there is a technical element here I am missing, but isn't that limiting our expressiveness?
In Rachelville, this is very important to our individuality.
I need to be more expressive...I need a headbanging smilie!
-
oh and my god how can you live without salt- ok I am a saltaholic.
You and me both!!!! I have extremely low blood pressure and I joke with my mom that if I didn't have as much salt as I do, my blood pressure would be zero!
I PULLED A GIANT TICK OUT OF ANNIE TODAY, perfectly executed, with tweezers, fully alive and with blood on its evil little mouth, I flushed the bugger down the toilet, cursing him for all of YOU, and my audience (niece and her boyfriend) were SPINACHED at the perfectly-executed job, no strangers to wilderness travel and ticks themselves.......YIKES!!! Be careful dear friend...if you pulled one out of Annie, they are around you too!
Heiniosity describes the emoticon rule!!!!!
I have a lovely antique green glass salt shaker I keep by the T.V..I have a salt shaker by the TV, four in the kitchen, two at work and I'd carry one around with me but can't figure out how to keep it from "leaking".
I am scared, because the past couple days, I have been feeling weirder than normal. (That is sad when weird is normal!) My heart palpitations have gotten worse, and I feel like I am going to passout all the time, and very weak and tired. It is scaring me! Does Lyme do this? It started after a really bad migraine yesterday. Could my Thyroid being hyper make me feel this bad?I don't know if it's the lyme specifically, although I think lyme can cause those things too....but I was sure having these symptoms last year at this time...that's what brought me to this thread in the first place.
Ok So the cranio sacral therapy was interesting. When I went in I was really freading the whole going over my whole health history thing becasue I have told the story so many times. She could tell I really was overwhelmed by it so she had me explain how it started and where I was at now and felt that was enough. This was a relief to me. The whole spirtual side to it is a little far fetched to me but I do think that part of what draws me to it is the mental component associated twith it because my body is in pain so much of the time I feel like I have to teach it to let go of some of it and while its not in my head as many "respected doctors" had told me part of me knows that our guts are are considered to be are second brains and therefore there is some degree of mental work that needs to be done( I am not sure if I explained this right) . It is basically this really gentle massage technique it reminded me in a sense of acupuncture except as opposed to using needles at key points touching and massage is used. Like I said it is very gentl so when she applied any pressure it felt so good and effective. It was actually a pretty long session and I felt my bod begin to relax which it rarely does. I actually fell asleep for part of it- I never sleep during the day - it was really nice ! She tries to locate areas of tension and blockages and as can be expected I had many of these. I am not 100% sure how I feel about it yet but I think it is definilty worth me trying again. It is expensive which is a definite draw back but it is the first time I have felt relaxed in a long time and I know I need my body to be more relaxed if it is ever gonna heal. Ok well that is a quick synopsis theres probably more to say but it escapes me now.Wow, this sounds fantastic!!! Wednesday when the physical therapist was massaging my arm and rest of my neck, shoulders, etc., he kept saying relax. I said, I am...this is it.
I think I am relaxed but my body almost never relaxes completely, so this sounds really wonderful!

anyone know of a good laxative. I have parylysis of my colon I think to the mercury or candida. i take mom's milk of magnesia but I want to wean myself off of it. stimulants cause to much pain.
You can also try massaging the intestinal area...I do that sometimes.
Ok, so the next question. The anti-candida diet. Isn't that meats, veggies, very little fruit, very little grains. What in the world do you eat!!!!!As if I don't have a problem figuring out what to eat now.
We have lots of rice products between the pasta, wraps, bread and rice itself.
Also, should I take chlorella and see if I can get used to it before I try the candida diet in case I notice any die off? I certainly don't want any mercury running around if candida is grabbing it. I had just told Mitch last night that I thought the mercury was behind my ezcema, my ears being the worst. I still have a patch on my eyelid and others pop up on my legs once in awhile. Then I have that itchy spot on my back that never goes away.
I think candida can live anywhere.
I eat basically just meat and veggies, with a little bit of low sugar fruit here and there and nuts. I tested okay for almonds, cashews and walnuts at BioSET so I'm rotating those now. I had ezcema when I was young...my mom said wheat gave it to me, and there was some reason why I couldn't have regular formula so she gave me soy milk.
The dentist gave me vitamin c pack. lypo spheric vitaimin c. It says 12% alchohal by weight.I deem this evil, lol!!! I bought the lypospheric C after the ART session I had...Scott said it tested well, so I tried it. OMGosh!!! Major bubble gut, terrible gas, noisy bowels...and that was just after 1 pack. I've been looking for something that I can take a lot of, but so far I can't find anything that tests well for me.
So is it possible to do a candida/elimination diet? I also have Seth to think about and I wonder if it would be wise to do anything before amalgam removal if the mercury is behind the ezcema to begin with.Yep, it's possible...not easy but possible. This is exactly what I was doing after I tested at BioSET and found out all the "safe" foods on the elimination diet were causing me grief. I used what I found out at BioSET to start my base diet, and basically what is safe are meats and veggies...or, in other words, the candida diet.
I've been trying to add in one at a time the other things that I tested okay for and mostly those are going okay.
The sign in the Xray room said "Do not dump barium down the sink as it will clog the pipes"Oh great- feed it to humans!
Yikes!

Wow!!! Very nice! Rivals most professional photos I've seen!

When you go to the doctor because you are extremely dizzy, nauseated, bad diarrhea, extremely low blood pressure and heart palpitations and she takes your pulse and says it seems fine...take some dramamine for the nausea and don't move suddenly. Huh?

Okay, I'll have to get in on a thread that just lasts and lasts for hundreds of pages...I don't think I've ever actually posted on the OMG thread. I first noticed it when it was already twenty pages long (last summer was a hectic one for me...life kept getting in the way of me sitting at the computer!), and I just kept thinking, "gee, those guys seem like quite an exclusive club in Rachelville..." You know how it can be tough to just butt into something that has lots of regulars? However, I see that it is still going strong. Perhaps I should lurk again...
Or, we could start another "ville" here...hmmmmm, don't know if I'm talented enough to orchestrate it!
Nah, Rachelville is not an exclusive club...we just happen to have the same regulars for a long time, but new people come in and out all the time, lol! We're mostly just discussing why we didn't get better going gluten free and the reasons why...along the way we have breaks of insanity, then get back to the scientificness of it all. Anyway, you are most welcome to come over and join in!

Will Windex kill the mold?
Hum, maybe I should buy a bottle of it and try it out!

. thats why i'm on the z. ill post more later about the next steps.
Wow!!! Bad news on the biopsy? Hope your finger is better soon so you can elaborate!

Lisa - sending my hugs as well. Another thing you shouldn't do is start a whole bunch of things at once. My doctor wants me to start on seven new supplements, BUT he doesn't want me to start them all on the same day. He wants me to add them one at a time, every three days...partly so as not to overwhelm my body and partly so that I can see which one of them might be a problem if I have a reaction. So, over the next 6 weeks, I am to start gradually on all of them.
I started with one that helps detox the liver and is supposed to also help with sleep. That was three days ago, today I started on glutathione...in three days I'll start another one.
It is really easy to overwhelm an already toxic body.
So about a half an hour ago we had our little greys anatomy party! What a finale! You won't believe what happened! You won't believe who stayed, who left, or anything!Haha, Mom went to bed a little while ago and told me that I should come on here and tease all you who haven't been able to watch it yet
HA!!!! I have recorded it, but haven't watched it yet...good thing for that you didn't say much kiddo!!!
I can feel the stress on me real bad. I want to call my family and diieee.I just feel so bad for you! I can just feel your pain and I'm so sorry!
There are other options for omega fats....maybe others can chime in on this cuz I'm not sure what all has omega fats.I'm going to be starting one in a few days...essential fatty oils. It's important to find one that is free of mercury. I got mine from my LLMD, but I'm sure there are brands that are free of mercury at health food stores. Flax seeds have omega oils, but flax can be hard on even a healthy digestive tract. Meats have Omega 6, but those are the ones that we get plenty of and probably don't need to supplement. I can't remember all the omega foods now...it was easier for me to get the pills.
OMG.....was just posting a LONG reply, and enjoying all of your musings, and then spilled an ENTIRE glass of freshly-poured red onto my FRESHLY-SHAMPOOED carpets and then also in that instant my nieces called, and are coming by any second to watch season finale of Gray's with me, and so I MUST GO!!!OMG....sounds like my day...only my liquid was water and it went all over my keyboard as I was picking paper up off the printer and the stupid phone rang and as I was answering the water went all over my desk and keyboard. Stupid keyboard doesn't work now...I'm using one I stole of another desk until they can get me a microsoft natural one...still your story is much funnier!
Thanks for the support, I am going to write a letter. And just remember, we can refuse to allow them to ruin our lives, we can pick up our lives now and find our way back to wellness.I agreed with what Rachel said, so didn't comment. I DO think it was weird that he called you...very odd.

Happy Birthday!!!

Thanks for that info Rinne!
Donna....they know alot about certain things...but Lyme is NOT one of those things. Neither is mercury. They're probably only a tiny bit more knowledgeable than the mainstream docs as far as that goes. Its just not what they specialize in and they dont use the proper tests to rule these things in or out.The lab they use isnt nearly as qualified for testing as Igenix and they arent doing Western Blots. Since their lab doesnt do Western Blots...I'm pretty sure Dr. Carrie might not have ever even seen a Western Blot before....let alone know how to interpret it.
I could be wrong but thats my guess based on the testing I had done there.
I don't think you're wrong. I still love them there, but they are focused too much on my neck pain and my adrenals and stopped trying to find the cause of it all...I'm really glad I took it upon myself to go to Dr. S. I don't think HN would have referred me there. I really believe they think they can still help me.
I think I may want to get tested for hypercoagulation at some point....just to know if its an issue or not. Its one of those things that can stand in the way of recovery. Some people cant get better if they have hypercoagulated blood. If anyone doesnt know what that is I've got a couple links.
Open Original Shared Link
Open Original Shared Link
Jins post about dark blood made me think about this again.
Hypercoagulation causes thickened and dark blood.
Lots of people on the Lyme board have hypercoagulated blood....it makes it harder to fight the bacteria.
Hum, I'll read the links. My blood was a bit darker during my fibroid phase, but has seemed pretty normal lately...course I'm not menstruating either, so it may not be noticable. When they draw blood, I always think it looks dark but no one has ever said anything about it...if I cut my finger, that is bright red.
OKay, Bev, I know your problem now .... it's something else, other than a hat, that has to drop to get pregnant!(Morgan, read the next line at your own risk)
Adam calls me Myrtle sometimes ... I can't even LOOK at him during the fertile time of the month ... He usually travels then! LOL
So, what's the deal? I had a herx last week and today I am very weak ... Morgan tried to take me to work out, but I couldn't and had to come home. I sauna-ed, showered, now I'm lying in bed again ... usually on non-herx days I at least feel well enough to lie on the couch!Could this have to do with my temperature being slightly elevated the past couple days? It's been a low-grade fever ... the early morning temp has been almost 99, and I know temps normally go up from there.
Maybe it's just because I started new meds a few weeks ago ...
Maybe your temp is elevated because you're herxing....I'll be it is the new meds...I don't always have reactions right away to things and sometimes with meds or supplements, it's almost like it builds up in me for a while before I react.

It would be great if that were the case for both of you!!!!

Yeah, now it pretty doesn't matter WHO wins...I like both.
