Oh Laura, I'm glad it's done with and she was fine afterwards! How hard it must have been to see her so scared and upset!
-
Donna's on pest control.....
I can branch out to assist in other areas, lol. "They" won't let me have a gun, but sure bet I could figure it out....
-
I feel kinda bad because I was one of the people who told you it was nothing to be afraid of--and then this happened.
Ditto!
-
Are you feeling better since after the removal?
Yes, the light-headedness is kind of back to normal, lol. Just comes up a little now and then throughout the day, but at least I'm not staggering around like I was after the appointment. I got a little more sleep last night which helped I think. Course, today, my stomach is a bit off cuz I have to spit in a vial and well, that just makes me sick, lol.
-
Donna, are you serious? Do they really care about ergonomics at your work? If so, that's great!!
Yep, they do, and especially if someone mentions a doctor wants it, lol. If I hadn't mentioned my doctor wanted me to be reevaluated, they would have just had one of the facilities people come over and look at it, but since the doctor suggested it, they are having a professional come in for insurance purposes.

two years gluten-free and you're still light-headed and dizzy?
Only one year, sorry, but yes, still light-headed and dizzy...but in my case I think it's related to something else...one of two things...I should know more about WHICH in a few weeks. Eating gluten definitely made it worse and it did get better after I stopped eating it regularly.

azmom3, that's a great poem!! Thanks!
Andrea - so sorry to hear about your dad. Oh, and I found on my calendar where I wrote the estimates they gave me for removal of the teeth...these were the general estimates they gave me during the consultation appointment: $1,350 for crowns, $250 for small fillings, $300 for larger fillings.
Rachel - I know the frustration of wanting to do something but not being able because of health...and the frustration of just wanting to be well. I have to admit, I'm a little afraid of what comes after the mercury removal. I don't know if or how much the HN doctors know about the chelation/detox stuff. I intend to ask Dr. Carrie today when I see her...I definitely don't want to do it wrong.
Hi everyone.
Holy spit batman...I just spent 20 minutes trying to get 3ml of spit into a tiny vial, lol.
That ain't easy!
I had my first full chiropractic and PT sessions yesterday. Wow, I really think they will be able to help me. The PT session alone is so wonderful. The guy spent probably a full five minutes just pressing on one spot in one muscle that is so tight...he pressed until it relaxed a bit, then he'd find a different spot and do the same thing. I have another session today after my visit with the internist. The chiropractor wants me to come 3 times a week for the chiro/PT combo...then they reevaluate each month to see how I'm doing. The PT gave me some neck range of motion exercises to do twice a day. I think on each visit they'll give me more exercises to address some of the different issues. The chiropractor also wants me to have my workstation reevaluated for ergonomicness, lol. The facilities person here said she'll call in the experts...they do that any time someone mentions that their doctor wants it.

I've been extremely dizzy and lightheaded lately
Me too! I've been feeling this for the last few years but not as bad as it is now. I've only knowingly eaten gluten twice in the last year, the lightheadedness was a bit worse on those two ocassions.

It surprises me I am even in this thread discussing theses things, I am such a big scardie cat
Me too!

Oooh reminds me, has anyone seen The Haunting series on the discovery network?? Big mistake for me, I saw the one where the family lived in a former funeral home, OMG, didn't sleep again for months.
Yep, that's about as scarey as I can take!

Hi, it's a little overwhelming at first but you'll get the hang of it very quickly. I can do the basics...
Gluten = the protein in wheat, oats, rye and barley and anything made with those products. Gluten also can be found in other grains but it is a different kind of gluten.
You'll unfortunately have to read labels because all of those things can be used in other things. Soy sauce comes to mind. Who'd a thunk that wheat would be in soy sauce, but it's there in some brands...but there are also some without.
Tinkyada makes a VERY good brown rice pasta and really, I like every bit as much as "regular" pasta, and I'm part Italian, lol. They sell this brands in some of the major supermarkets now too.
Rice and brown rice are naturally gluten free as are potatoes, fruits, veggies...
Be careful on some lunch meats...I don' t have a list offhand, but there can be some natural flavorings added which could contain gluten...gosh, why can't I remember the name of the brands that are okay, lol.
Basically you have to look at things like tomatoe sauce to be sure that the "flavorings" aren't wheat.
I don't like wine so can't help with that...
Okay, brain fog is setting in, hope that helped a little.

I wish I could! Honestly, my house smells so good now--I wish you could all come over for tea.
You mean there are REALLY brownies...I thought that was another phrase like "frisk the wookie" or something.

I've always suspected I had a thyroid problem, but could never get any doctor to run any of the tests other than TSH which always comes back normal. I have several of the "classic" symptoms (which can really apply to other things too though). I'm seeing a new group of doctors who suspect adrenal fatigue and I know they're sometimes linked. I bet they'd check for me. My last blood test was in February as part of my annual exam...iron came back normal then, but I'm even MORE fatigued than I was then, so maybe they should recheck that too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I know Vitamin C definitely give me D if I take too much, I seem to be okay in lower doses throughout the day rather than 1 big one, but that's one of the reasons I stopped taking it at the beginning of the year, so I could see if that was what was causing the D. It helped when I stopped but didn't stop the D altogether.
In your case Carla, I think it really may be the combination of things...
How much Vitamine C and glutathione are you taking...not questioning how much you take but wondering how much I should take, lol.
You're welcome Andrea!
Thanks Rachel! I'm feeling better than yesterday, but am still woozy...I wish I brought my blood pressure monitor to work with me...bet it's really low again.

Just saying Hi and welcome to Raymond!

Well, I just googled amalgam removal ... I had mine done over 15 years ago, so I'm sure that the supplement protocol has changed since then, but all the sites I saw still recommended vitamin C and glutathione. I'd definately look into it, and I'd take vitamin C, too, if you can tolerate it. I know the supplements helped me tremendously, otherwise I felt like I had the flu.
Thanks Carla...I DO have some Vit C supplements at home, maybe I should take those...if I have glutathione it's as old as the hills, but I can pick some up.

Yep, I have lots of vertical ridges on my fingernails...with some of the white "clouds". They are brittle and chip and flake very easy. I can only see the moons on my thumbs and the pointer (index??) finder of my left hand.
My toenails have both vertical and horizontal ridges.

Can you maybe work just part time? I'm so sorry...I have been struggling to work this entire last year and I'm just so exhausted, so sort of know what you mean! Just really sending hugs since I haven't figured out yet how to make it all work...I don't have kids or hubby so fortunately if I don't feel like doing anything when I get home, I don't have to...also only have to worry about feeding myself. I am just in awe of any of you who can do it for even a little while!
-
Donna, even with all the right precautions, I still felt very sick when I was having my amalgams removed. Do they have you taking supplements to aide in the detoxing of the mercury? I remember that as long as I took my glutathione regularly -- something like 6 times a day -- I felt good.
He didn't say anything about supplements...I'll ask him next time, and I'll also ask the internist when I see her tomorrow, and the nutritionist when I see her again.

It's Rachelville SOUTH - eat whatever you want!
YAy, heck with the Bumble Bars give me chocolate peanut butter ice cream then!

Forgive my grogginess, but what are the names of some good books that you all have read as adults dealing with gluten issues? I know I've read some titles on here in the past. I just don't have the mental energy (or ability) to do that kind of a search right now! Thanks!
Dangerous Grains was a good one. Hum, what others did I read...the brain fog hasn't completely left me yet, lol.
One of my doctors just recommded "Going Against the Grain", but I haven't read it to comment.

I just returned from a Royal Caribbean Cruise to the Greek Isles. It started in Venice, Italy. In Italy I used my laminated dinning cards. There were some nice Italians who were willing to help and some rude ones who physically escorted me to the door! Guess they didn't want to deal with someone who could not eat pasta.
Once on the cruise my life was GREAT!!! They bent over backwards to accomodate me! If you choose to do any vacationing outside of your homeland, I HIGHLY reccomend Royal Caribbean. Every night they would sit down with me and show me the menue all of the guests would receive. They told me to pick ANYTHING on the menu and they would make it gluten free. (except the pasta dishes) They even made sure every night I had a gluten free dessert! They made me Gluten free bread everyday. I usually skip the rubbery bread at home, but I ate it on the cruise. If they went to the trouble to make it I went to the trouble to enjoy every bite.
When I was in port, Rhodes to be exact, everyone wanted authentic greek food. I tried my dinning cards. I still ended up with a Greek Salad. I was dissappointed. I thought I could have had something else but the waitress said no. I didn't feel as though she was really trying to help. But I have learned when in doubt. Stick with a simple salad.
All in all, cruising may be the best way to travel gluten free.
Sounds great!!! I'm leaving in a few weeks on Princess to the Panama Canal, so I'm happy to hear it can be done. I've sailed with Princess before, but not since being diagnosed, but in my previous sailings they've been very good about trying to accomodate dietary requirements. Great, I'm getting really excited again, lol!

I can never seem to catch up here, but just a quick note to Susan
Susan, one of the ways the food intolerances affect me is mentally. The other day when I had the cookies, it went right to my head, just like alcohol. I then became irrational, irritable, and emotional. My brain was so whacked out by the sugar and whatever else I reacted to. My thoughts were going a mile a minute. I had bizzare dreams. I'm better now. I have learned by watching carefully what food does to my brain. There is a lot about the gut-brain connection in the Autism world, and that is why parents of autistic kids try to heal the gut to heal the brain. We have a lot of nerves in our digestive system.
Also, the food intolerances manifest for me in depression. The only reason I truly believe this is that I see the difference after cutting these things out for a year. I'll provide a link here about my story on this that I posted on another board:

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has had these experiences.
take care, Claire
Nope, you're not the only one! What I eat directly affects all parts of my body including mental function and emotions, so I'd tend to agree with you!!!! Sugar really does affect me negatively...I get mood swings, etc.
Omg...i Might Be On To Something

LOVE Soduku...I have it in a handheld electronic game version...very cool.
Shoot, it was busy at work today, so I'm sort of drive-bying...someone has probably already answered this, but just in case...
I made up the word...kind of like scientificness...ergonomic is what it's called when something is designed to work with your body in a "natural" less-chance-of-injury way. A chair can be ergonomic because it has a nice padding where the small of your back is...a keyboard is ergonomic if it is shaped so that your hands face in a natural way. okay...gotta leave for my HN appointments...3 today.
