  1. Donna,

Your appointment sounds fantastic. Could you pm me what he charges for the removal and placing crowns. I called my dentist and the gal there told me he usually shaves the tooth enough.

Get some rest and relaxation time. Hope you feel better in a bit. :)

Sure, I have all the charges with me...they gave me estimates for the whole mouth...be prepared, it's a shocker, lol. I'll PM you in a bit.

Donna, I am so happy you are starting to make some progress, esp in liking this office and feeling comfortable with them..that makes such a big difference! But I'm sorry you aren't feeling too well tonight. Hope you get a good nights sleep and wake up feeling more refreshed.

    xoxo

    Thanks Laura!

That was a driveby Donna?:lol::lol:

 Yah, a slow one, lol. I didn't really respond to anyone else's post...just a driveby.

I wouldn't be surprised if the anesthesia was the cause of you not feeling well, I never felt well when I got shot up in the dentist chair

One quadrant down, how many to go??

3 more to go...the second one starts on Nov. 8! I was trying to decided if I was reacting to the drugs or if it was something else...I decided to take my blood pressure right after I posted and got off the computer and before I layed down. It was 89/50!!! Yikes! I layed down for a while then retook it and it went up a bit to 93/50ish. I tried taking it twice standing up and it wouldn't get a reading. Anyway, I don't usually react to the dental stuff, but I'm wondering if he uses something different.

This was one of the worst episodes of lightheadedness...I was truly off balance the whole afternoon/evening. I don't remember it being that bad before...it's been bad, but not like that.

And, I woke up again this morning at 1:30, and I was lightheaded and dizzy IN BED!! That lasted until 3:15ish when I think I dozed off again for a bit. If I didn't have to get up at 4:00 I think I could have slept at least another hour.

Wow....a bunch of amalgam under your crowns!! :o

It really could be mercury toxicity for you...werent the crowns gold?? Oooooh...thats alot of mixed metals. <_<

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the answer and that you get better. :)

Yes, a whole bunch of amalgam under a gold crown, lol. I have 4 more gold crowns done by the same dentist, so I'm sure there is a lot of amalgam under those as well.

Ugh. stomach is rumbling and there may be some GBB (gas bomb bloat)...... Sometimes it really is good that I only live with dogs.:lol::lol:

You and me both then last night...the rumbling started BIG time after I layed down and well, gas bom bloat...didn't have time to bloat...gas bombs kept a coming.

Donna- Get that stuff outta your mouth! Ii am so happy for you that you are getting those fillings out. I know it's not fun, but in the long run :D

Thanks Bev...I'll be really interested to see if Lyme is a possibility for you!

Laura, I think "Rachelville Resident Happy Girl" would work. :)

Donna, so glad the appointment went well, I really hope this will result in better health for you.

Thanks Rinne...yes, excellent title for Laura!

    Rinne....

Would this be the same as me having balls of stress and anxiety in my stomach for no apparant reason but then *looking* for a reason and lashing out because I dont know what the heck is going on??

This seems to happen to me now and then.....when I get really toxic...like last week. It affects my behavior.....it brings the worst out of me but all I really wanna do is make the balls of stress disappear. Except instead I end up making people disappear and create even bigger balls of stress inside me. :(

I do this too from time to time...balls of stress and anxiety is a great to put it...I've been lashing out at work but the people won't disappear.:ph34r::o

  2. Oh Andrea, I woke up about the time you went to bed, lol. Had a "bad" dream that someone was taking my computer (at work) with the managing partner standing right there and I said something like why are you taking my computer, and they said "oh, do you need it?", LOL. Woke me up out of a dead sleep!!!! Holy cow, if they took my computer I couldn't talk to you all, lol. Anyway, couldn't get back to sleep.:blink:

Girls, I am not doing well right now. I am soo lightheaded and feeling a bit weak, but I don't think it has anything to do with the dentist appointment, which went fairly well. I WAS kind of nervous and anxious but now I'm thinking that had more to do with an energy bar I ate about an hour before I left work and I THINK is what is making me feel weird--I think it must have had some B or multivitamins in it or something--those always seem to bother me and always leave the telltale yellow pee that I had this afternoon, lol. (No Donna, TMI, TMI.)

Anyway, the doctor and the girls in the office are REALLY nice and joked around with me so I felt more comfortable, lol. I go back on November 8 for the permanent crown and to start the process on the upper right side. Then I'm going to wait until after the first of the year to get the others done.

They used good safety protocol...they used a dam, good suction, kept it cool, and had a HUGE vacuum right at my nose/mouth, lol. That thing was big...and it was vented somewhere else...don't know where, but the air didn't stay in the room, lol. :o Plus I had a nice view...there is a window (skylight really I guess, but looks like a window with blinds on it and everything) right over the chair so I got to look at the pretty blue sky the whole time.

Sure enough under the crown was a TON of amalgam, so it's a good bet that the other 5 crowns have tons of amalgam under them too since the same dentist did all of them.

I asked his assistant what they use instead of amalgam and she said it's a composite that he put together after trying several different mixtures and that this was the one that had the best results as far as compatibility. She says they've not had any problems with compatibility yet.

Well, this was just a low speed driveby...going to brush my teeth, wash my face and lay on the couch until bedtime, lol.

  3. Why can't you eat beef? Did I miss that?

No, you didn't miss it, I didn't elaborate  ...they want me to go on a hypallergenic diet. So they want me to leave out stuff that is problematic for a lot of people like eggs, beef, pork, soy, etc.

Also have to leave out citrus, strawberries and dried fruit, margarine, peanuts.

No coffee, not even decaf, no soda

No corn, or or other grains...a little rice, millet, buckwheat would be okay...but just small amounts

Also can have a little potato, but very limited

Basically just meat, veggies, fat and a little fruit. This will only be for 10-days then I think I get to add stuff back in to see if it bothers me...this is exactly what I knew I needed to do months ago but just didn't do it.

I'm supposed to have a protein, fat and carb at every meal or snack. There's a ratio of protein to carb, but there are two different ratios in the handouts she gave me...one place says 4 parts carb/3 parts protein and the other place says 2 parts carb/3 part protein...haven't decided which one I'll do, lol.

WHAT, did I miss saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Rinne?

    Happy Birthday Rinne!!!

  4. ... from the worst pain I've ever felt since I started having symptoms.

I woke up this morning to the most intense "they're-ripping-my-intestines-out-of-my-body" pain that I've ever felt. I've had bad pain like this probably 5 times and 4 out of those 5 were before I went gluten-free. I now know it was my body trying to tell me that I needed to be gluten-free.

But why this morning? And why did it feel much better after I let out some gas ( :embarrased: ) - it wasn't gas pains. It was intestinal pain. I literally felt like someone was ripping my intestines out of my body. It didn't help that my lower back was hurting in the same way.

From what I understand, symptoms of a glutening can change after a certain amount of healing. Have I been glutened? Because I always have severe pain with glutenings, but not like THIS.

And I always get extremely bloated with a glutening, which is thankfully not happening this morning. The only thing that I've eaten different in the past several days was communion wine at church sunday, where I was one of the first to drink from that cup.

Any insight would be appreciated. :)

I get that from time to time as well. No doctor has ever been able (or actually made much of an attempt) to figure it out. IBS is what I've been told, but the pain is excruiating and when it hits, I can barely stand up. Mine isn't relieved by gas, but sometimes feels like it would if I had a bowel movement...only it doesn't really relieve it then either. I've had a colonoscopy which showed absolutely NOTHING wrong with my colon...squeaky clean, so, I really can't offer advice or thoughts...just comiserating! Sorry!

  5. So it's 210am, and I'm wide awake! I slept sound for four hours and here I am!! I, of course, am dying of thirst b/c I know I can't have anything to drink. My stomach is also churning which is probably the result of the Applebee's dinner I ate........I was going with the whole "last meal hoorah" angle. Applebee's is always good at the moment but makes me feel like s@%$ in the end. I can't wait for the bipsy to be done; I'm really nervous about it which is so out of character for me. My husband is even surprised by how "twitchy" I am over it.

This is absolutely the worst part...I hate being hungry, lol. I think I did the same thing on my first scope...didn't sleep at all, but don't worry, they'll give you some nice drugs soon. I actually took a Cliff Nectar bar with me and on the ride home wolfed that sucker down, lol.

  6. :lol::lol:

    Donna,

Thats funny! I wonder if she really even knew me though. I never saw the nutritionist.

I only saw Dr. Rick, his wife (only twice) and Dr. Carrie. Other then those 3 I only know the 2 ladies at the front desk. I dont have any idea who the nutritionist lady is...

It sounds like your taking some of the same tests I took...it'll be interesting to see how they come back.

It was Dr. Vikki (Dr. Rick's wife)...she did my nutrition evaluation. I thought these sounded like some of the tests you mentioned way back at the beginning of all this, lol. I have to call them on the spit test though. The test has some VERY specific hours that you are supposed to spit in, lol. The 10:00p.m.-12:00a.m. one just won't work for me, lol...I'm usually WAY asleep by then.

    Donna-

with you on the emotional roller coaster. I just sent in a stool test today for yeast parasites and other buggers. Which one are you doing? I have done a spit test for adrenals - it was an all day thing very annoying is that what you have to do?

Yes, I think that's the stool test they are doing...it's the one with the six vials that you have to shake and stir, lol. And, yes, the spit test is for the adrenals...all day...spit between 6-8 am, spit between 12-2, spit between 5-6 or 7 (I think) and spit between 10:00-12:00... I have to call them though because my day starts WAY earlier than most of America's does...I get up at 4:00 a.m. and go to bed at 8:00 p.m., so I have to find out if that matters...they want me to do the test on a workday, but I can't do the 10-midnight thing on a worknight or I'll never make it to work the next day...guess I'll have to do it Friday, lol.

    Donna---thinking about you. xoxo

You too! Wow, I'm encouraged by your appointment though. What is it with us attracting the nurse cratchetts of the medical world?

Donna, glad your appt went well today. Tomorrow is the big day isn't it? You will definitely be in my thoughts :)

Thanks, yep, it's here, YIKES, lol. Anyway, I was just thinking yesterday that I am missing your posts...are you feeling any better?

WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO???

I've had it said to me too!!! So frustrating!

We are moving on Friday so I won't have access to my compter for a few days, but when I get settled, I will definitely check back into this great thread! Best of luck to everyone!

Good luck with the move and hurry back! There is always good scientificness here!

I had the weirdest dreams; my brain was flashing image very quickly and I couldn't do anything about it. Sugar sometimes gives me an evil temper, like last night. When will I ever learn  ?

Yep, this happens to me too when I eat sugar, and the sad part is when I eat sugar I CRAVE more and more. Right now I'm the evil sugar monster, lol.:ph34r:

I think that fear or panic is the body's way of attempting to communicate its' distress to us but because our attention is generally directed outward we attach that feeling of fear to events in our lives rather than looking inward. When we ignore the fear or medicate ourselves the next message we receive from our bodies is pain, exhaustion or neurological symptoms because the dis-ease has moved from the metabollic level to the immunological level. I knew something was going on with me three years ago but it has taken this long for the symptoms to manifest sufficiently that they can be identified.

    YES, EXACTLY, lol!!

I didn't know that the CT Scan was the equivalent of 100 chest x-rays. I cannot emphasize how strongly I feel that in having many of these tests we are putting ourselves in harm's way.

:o I have had 3 CT scans of my sinuses....didn't have to drink anything though...hope I didn't ZAP what was left of my brain.

  7. Your appointment sounds productive. Looking forward to hearing about your first session with amalgam removal also.

Have you got food to get you through this that you can eat? Stuff put away/locked up that you can't?

I'm a little nervous about the removal for some reason, lol, not sure why exactly, maybe the needles sticking me with mind numbing drugs or maybe the drilling... not sure :lol::lol:

Actually, no I don't have ANYTHING I need for the diet, lol. My freezer is full of BEEF, nothing but beef. I have a few veggies, and a little fruit, but not much else. I'm trying to decide if I just want to start the diet on Saturday after I've gone grocery shopping, or try to fit grocery shopping in after one of my appointments this week. Haven't decided for sure, but I'm feeling like I SHOULDN'T put this off...I have a strong feeling I need to start as soon as possible. Weird, lol.

  8. Ditto on the emotional rollercoaster and the drama, lol. I marched into my manager's office today and said basically that I don't know why she wanted my opinion because it didn't make a bit of difference. Got a little fed up, lol. She was looking at me like -->

Laura, glad you are home! Sounds like this appointment went much better than the last, so I'm anxious to hear when you are up to it!

My nutritionist appointment went well. She says "so it says you were referred by Rachel?", I say "yes", she says "do you have a last name?", I say "no, she's a friend on the Internet, but she said I could tell you she is the one with the baseball cap and is really messed up", she says "Okay, I know exactly who that is". LOL! (pssst, then she clarified by saying that it was the baseball cap that did it, lol).

Anyway, I'm going to do the spit test for adrenals...brought that home with me, a stool test for the parasites and other little buggers and a 10-day elimination diet...really basically will just be eating meats, complex carb, fats and veggies. The carb level will be low I think. No chocolate! None. No corn...none...okay here's where that corn list will come in handy, lol. No eggs, no soy...basically NOTHING that I've been eating, the last month! I haven't read the literatureage she sent home yet, but those are the things she went over with me, lol.

I also have to read all the instructions for the spit and stool tests... Oh, and she also gave me the script to have an EKG done...but I have to call me GP for that and that won't be until next week at least, cuz there's just no more place for an appointment this week, lol. It was very interesting talking to her and she really feels strongly she can help me. She even thinks the leg itching thing can be addressed!

  9. It is important that you get a minimum 4 hours of uniterrupted sleep before taking your temp as well.

Holy cow, then I'd be in trouble, lol. I don't ever get 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep and I don't even have kids, or a husband, or even a dog, lol. Okay, sorry, I'm just monitoring this thread because it may be applicable, but I just had to post on that. :P

  10. Donna, I think HN does intolerance testing with saliva. I was suppossed to take the test but I just never did it. I think it might be sitting in the back of my car somewhere.

Better than the stool test one doctor gave me which I just threw in the garbage, lol. This was from the same doctor that ONLY TOOK my pulse and said I seemed fine on the day I went to see her for extreme dizzyness, nausea, chest pain, racing heart and extremly low blood pressure and near fainting incident. Forget why she gave it to me, and I've certainly done other tests, but for some reason I decided it was worthless to go through it with her, lol.

  11. I am sorry, I bet this was answered somewhere, but my family is being insensitive to my going gluten free. If Enterolab test were pos., and I have gluten sensitive genes, but my blood is neg., then do I have Celiac? The blood tested antibodies for Celiac-none were found. I am confused. Maybe my family will accept it all more if I did say I have Celiac. I apologize if that sounds insensitive.

    Thanks,

Family can be tough! Mine were very supportive fortunately and didn't need much to support my gluten-freeness. I have a celiac gene and a gluten sensitivity gene, but because my biopsy/blood tests were negative, I do not have a diagnosis of celiac. Now, my blood test and biopsy was done SIX months AFTER I went gluten-free AND before that I had been on a low carb diet, so hadn't been eating large quantities of gluten...probably just enough to keep me feeling bad, but not enough to have widespread damage. (That's my theory anyway.) Had you been eating a regular gluten-filled diet before your testing was done (the blood and biopsy)? If not, that may have affected the results. I'm sorry because I don't think I actually answered your question.

  12. I'll try to put this in perspective. It is just that this place seemed to be the one place I could speak without criticism. Seems like whenever I seek help, the responses are negative." You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Everyone deals with that problem. Buck up and cope. Stop exaggerating. If you really are following the diet you wouldn't have any problems, other people get well. You must be making yourself sick. You just need to be gluten free."

This just broke my heart! I am so sorry! I don't offer a lot of advice because frankly, I can't remember half of what I've learned here, so from time to time I just reply to post with the hug offering thing...this is one of those times. I don't have an explanation as to why this happens, but just offering you compassion because I've been in your situation! I can't tell you how many times I've heard the "well, you ARE getting older now" thing in response to some of my issues...I've never heard that here fortunately. Please continue to post!

  13. This is one of the tests I had done, has anyone else had it?

    No, but sounds interesting!!

    Just a drive by....

    xoxo

Good luck at the appointment, can't wait to hear about it!

Anybody have any opinions as to if getting allergy testing is a good idea for me or a waste? I'm not sure finding out will be beneficial because I can't change how I eat. Some of the things I show up allergic to don't make me sick, while some of the things I'm suppose to be able to eat do in fact make me sick  I am torn what to do......

I don't know. I've been tested two times for food allergies, the first time about 3 years ago (by skin scratch) and only showed slight reactions to 4 foods: Barley, canteloupe, white grapes and yellow squash. Out of those 4 I hardly ever ate barley or yellow squash and only ate canteloupe once in a while and white grapes only if they were an ingredient in something else. None of those foods would cause a big reaction in me (okay the Barley NOW might, lol). I was tested again a few weeks ago (again by skin scratch) and only showed a reaction to oats--something I hadn't eaten in almost a year.

This new clinic does food allergy testing too, by different methods, so I'm going to ask them if any of them deals more with intolerance and see what they say. I don't believe I have a true allergy to any food...I think mine are all intolerances of some sort.

I don't know if I'd spend a lot of money on the "allergy" testing if you can't change what you eat though...if it's something you can do for relatively little cost maybe...unless maybe just for peace of mind...knowing sometime WHAT is making you feel bad is good even if you can't change it.

Okay, I didn't help much. Sorry.

  14. Donna, you'll really be pleased with how much chiropractic helps. I've gone for years ... used to be regularly, now that I've had my TMJ fixed, it's only a few times per year as I don't need it as often. Once you get all fixed up, you'll only need it occassionally.

This is what I'm hoping and why I'm so excited I think. I've lived with the neck pain (and other pains that I think they'll address once the neck thing is done) for several years now, so I'm just excited it might actually get fixed!

You're challenging me aren't you. It's easy to remember that you have an appointment everyday......not so easy to remember who you see. :P

Not easy for me either...I had to pull out my calendar to type that list, lol.

  15. I just got back from SF today, they flew me up for 5 hours for the last portion of my flurry of interviews. I haven't been around cause I've been insanely busy dealing with the OMG New Job thing, and working my extra job to try to make moving money, so have been rediculously exhausted and antisocial for the last month.

This job is frakking AMAZING. Its about 1/3 of the work of my current job, for alot more money, with really cool people, in downtown San Francisco. My new office has a gigantic window. So I have two and a half weeks to pack and arrange all my stuff and move up. Luckily, I'm going to be temporarily staying with my new BF who lives in San Jose who has a gigantic garage to store my stuff in while apartment hunting on the West Peninsula.

    OMG!!!!!! EEEEEKKKK!!!!! WHEEEEE!!!!!

Hi to all the SF people. I look forward to picking your brains for places to eat. I also look forward to hunting down Crave to buy a birthday cake, since my birthday is on the 17th, and I'll be celebrating it up there!!

    Whoooohooooo!!!

I get to give notice to my old stinky job tomorrow. I can't wait.

    Elonwy

CONGRATULATIONS!!! How exciting! We'll be neighbors, lol...I live about 50 miles south of SF. Don't get up there very often though so can't help with the eating thing, but just wanted to say congratulations and welcome up north, lol.
