Andrea - WOW, I'm finding it hard to figure out what to eat just for myself...I can't imagine trying to figure it out for an entire family, especially when everyone is a bit different. No wonder you're tired!
Susan - yep, the place is on Mary in Sunnyvale.
Speaking of the place in Sunnyvale, lol...they gave me a 3-page BioHealth (I think that's what it was called) Questionnaire to fill out at home and bring to my appointment on Friday...had some really good questions, but the one that stunned me was...Does your tailbone hurt? OMGOSH!!!!!!! It has for a few months now...I thought maybe when I had my colonoscopy done in April that maybe they bruised it or something--I never really noticed it hurting until after that. Now it hurts all the time. It even hurts if I lay on my back too long. HOW WEIRD IS THAT?! And, why would they ask that question on a BioHealth questionnaire...what does it all mean, lol?

Oh Susan, our Susan..what are we gona do with ya
I'll share my poison ivy story.
was in college and went with friends to a old country church in the hills of Ohio w/o an outhouse.
Of course, long ride and hr in church soooooo you can guess the rest..
we all had to 'squat' in the bushes..and try explaining the 'poison ivy' down there..
to the family dr...I'll never get over that one. (AND NO DIDN'T USE LEAVES TO WIPE--WAS SMART ENOUGH NOT TO DO THAT..DID A FAST DRIP DRY BUT GUESS I DIDN'T TAKE TIME TO LOOK BEFORE I ..WELL YOU KNOW.

I must admit I have the what will happen if thing too...but it's selective I think for me, lol. For instance, I don't need to know what will happen if I jump off a bridge on a bungee cord...I'm pretty sure I know what will happen. But I've done really dumb thing even knowing...like eating a half a Krispie Kreme donut a few monthg ago...haven't done that since.
Poison oak story...priceless.

Hi to all! Laura, so glad your second day went so well!
My appointment went well. I really like this clinic so far...at the very least I feel like they will really try to find out why my body isn't functioning the way it should. They are a team (an MD, chiropractors, physical therapist and nutritionists) and treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. It was a fairly thorough consultation, and I will go back on Friday for my first official appointment which will be an exam by the medical doctor to rule out any medical issues and a visit with the chiropractor--mentioned my really sore neck, lol. He said something I suspected for a long time...that most doctors when they order tests only order tests which look for diseases and therefore they miss a lot of those of us who aren't to the disease stage yet, and yet something is causing our bodies to not work properly. I really feel like I need help figuring all this out and I think this is a really good step. I suspect I will be repeating some testing that I've already done, but I think the lab they use makes a difference and I'll bet the testing is more thorough. I have never been able to get a mainstream doctor to test thyroid thoroughly...they run a TSH, which even I know doesn't catch a lot of people.
I was just had a conversation with my mother on Saturday...and I have to say that my mother is very supportive and has been really great the past couple of years with all my crazy notions and ideas...it seems like every week I'm trying some new diet to see if it helps my health issues, but anyway, she said something on Saturday about when we get older we just start getting more health issues, to which I said, but I don't think it was supposed to be that way. Dr. today agreed. So there, lol.
Rachel, I saw Dr. Rick and I guess the girl I spoke to on the phone must have written Rachel and the Internet on the referral space...he didn't even need to hear the baseball cap thing, lol, said he knew who you were.
Tee hee! actually I want to rescue an adult dog for my first dog. Not a puppy just yet.I've done both. My first dog I got as a puppy and the second was a rescue. They both have great pros and both have some cons, lol. They were both West Highland White Terriors (aka TERRORS), so the puppy years were especially trying because that darned dog was hyper. Good thing I wasn't sick back then, lol. But, she was the cutest, best little friend with such a great personality. Had to put her down at a young 8 years old though...quite sad. The second one I rescued from a vet...her owners had turned her in to be put down--she was older (11 years I think) and had a LOT of health issues (gee, was that kismet or what, lol) and the owners were elderly and just couldn't care for her anymore. She had her share of quirks (old dog/new trick things), but I just loved her and she also had great personality. I only had her two years though before all the health things finally got too much for her.

3. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, GET A PUPPY!!! but then again NO NO NO.....all the training, the cleaning, and the loss of freedom, the ruining of the yard and/or house (shoes at least)....the crying at night for the first few weeks......I don't know. Your life is complicated enough....wait until things settle down a bit, maybe?
Don't forget the endless hours of staring they do...they just stare at you, lol.

Thanks everybody for all the input about Enterolab testing. I didn't realize they did it all through poop, er, stool sample
I was thinking it was blood draws for some reason.
I am thinking about doing the whole shebang option, but I am confused as to if it also includes soy and egg in it...
I got the egg test...did not show an intolerance in my case. The gene test is done through swabs of the inside of your cheek (on your face, lol).

Doesnt Donna have an appt. today? Who else?
Yep, me at HealthNow after work.

Susie, it's possible that the past few months while you've been gluten-free, your intestines have healed just enough to change your reactions. I think most of us have pretty leaky guts because we've been eating stuff we're intolerant to...when we stop, our guts have time to heal a bit...when that happens, I'm assuming (may incorrectly) that it might take longer to have a reaction...or maybe we won't have a reaction on the ocassional glutening... I don't know for sure...just my take on it.
-
I have other problems as well as Gluten related stuff. From another support group they recommended a compounding pharmacy with a phone # 1-800-728-0288. Pharmacist name is Pete. Sorry don't know what city they are in but maybe he can answer your questions re: thyroid meds.
Just wanted to say hi! You were really brave to go back to April, lol! Welcome to our little thread!
Rachel, looking forward to hearing about your appointment today!
Laura, great first day on the job!!! Hopefully it won't be so exhausting from now on...I think first days tend to be like that even in the best of health, lol.
Julie, I agree, accupuncture counts, lol. I was tested through Enterolabs too...definitely worth it in my case.
Susie, morning! Don't get too excited about the lack of reaction. Trying to remember back to my Krispie Creme fiasco a few months ago...I think it hit me almost two days later...course I only had half a donut.
For you the brain fog is probably a LOT worse because of it though.
Bev, yay on the testing.

Managed to get my blood work todya after THREE tries and let me tell you, that was like summitting Everest without supplemental oxygen. I cried each time upon discovering lab was closed or there were 15 people ahead of me. HOw crazy, to cry over that but I just had NO stamina and the world just looked hazy adn blury and my head felt full of cotton. So.....I looked at my lab slip. I"d asked the doctor to test ALL thyroid, T3, T4, everything, and she had not checked those boxes.
So I DID. Harumph.
Of course we feel sorry for you, or along with you anyway. I personally KNOW what it's like to KNOW you shouldn't do something, but are compelled by some inner thing to do it.
About this blood work thing...that really frosts me. I've had the same thing happen to me and have THOUGHT about checking the boxes myself but have never actually had the courage to do it. Good for you! I've never been tested for the full thyroid panel even though I have a lot of symptoms that COULD fit with thyroid issues. I just don't understand it. This is another thing I'm hoping the HN doctors will do...test for the FULL panel.
Donna, they are ripping you off. Check another place.... MAX you should pay is like $60-75 an hour for labor, and your strut job for BOTH should only take like 2-3 hours MAX. Total labor should be like $200-250. PM me if you need anymore info...Thanks! I can't remember what their hourly rate is, I'll have to look. On Saturday they probably worked on my car from 8:00 to 4:30...I had to have a door lock actuator replaced (well, didn't HAVE to, it worked manually, lol), and it was a major servicing (90,000 miles), plus the timing belt...I wish I could remember their hourly rates.
I'll call them to find out what the struts cost and then see how that works with the estimate they gave me.

I don't know all the words, but definitely G F will change as will C D...it changes to celiac disease.
I think Lame Advertisement is another...it changes to Lame Advertisement

About the ironing....am I the only one who does NOT iron?? I probably havent picked up an iron in a whole bunch of years. I just buy stuff that doesnt need ironing. If its got some wrinkles I throw it in the dryer. Works for me.
I DON'T iron...I am usually just wrinkled, lol. Once in a while...I will if I HAVE to wear something and look nice...but that doesn't happen more than 1 time a year...mostly I'm just wrinkled.

For any of you wanting to lose weight, get these demon, I mean damon braces ... I've lost three pounds I've worked very hard to gain!! If I lose one more pound my scale will start blinking at me that I'm too skinny
. I had lost 5 pounds before that due to my fatiguing adrenals (it can cause both gain and loss -- loss is usually a later stage). Now, my body is detoxing due to diet, supplements and sauna ... so the IBS symptoms are back. I've read that can be due to heavy metal detoxing ... so I think this is a good thing. It's not gluten, because I actually feel fine and have more energy than before ... not as much energy as what I'd consider "normal" but more than I had when I couldnt' get out of bed!
I am SOOO hoping these new doctors will test for adrenal fatigue...its listed on their website as conditions treated.

LMAO
YIKES!
DON'T DO IT!
That's what they feed the Auxigro geese!
It's true, the chemical formula for Krispy Kremes is as follows gLUteN + sUGar + faT^2 = POOP^10!
I wouldn't even toss them to the dingos. I'd just flush them down the toilet and eliminate the middle man. (make sure to wash your hands!)
Come back to us, don't cross over to the dark side
Please reconsider, we really don't want to call in your Stepford Neighbor for an intervention!
LOL! Yes, I agree, with the whole thing!
-
and they said that every day for three months they prayed that they would love themselves enough not to hurt themselves anymore
OMGosh, I LOVE this!!!!! I am going to steal it, lol.
It is very frustrating!!!Indeed!!!
Yet another thing we have in commonI gained back 10 of the 15 I lost while sick in 2 months post gluten-free!
I've managed to put on another 10 or so--it varies--that I definately don't need
Okay, I know Cecile is your twin, but I must be the long lost cousin or something, lol! We do have a lot in common!
-
I think though that something very special is happening here, I trust that we have been drawn together somehow across the world, Mango I am thinking of you
, and I know that life and light are a powerful force that we can trust.
I've been thinking the same thing about each one of you!
Donna,Ouch! I hate those kind of car repairs. Never ending bills.....I know how you feel. I put all our stuff on credit card so I get to stress about making payments until who knows when. I still have to have 4 crowns done, probably next fall after I pay off most of the cc debt we currently have. Nothing like paying down and charging right back up. Hope our car doesn't cause us any problems. We have the 45k service we need to get done.
...
Patti, Donna, Susan.....whoever talked about muir glen,
I don't have problems with them, but I don't have multiple sensitivities, hopefully I won't develop them. Have developed enough intolerances.
Hope I didn't miss anyone.
Yah, unfortunately I put a lot of stuff on credit card too.
I did pay cash for this one, but had to take a huge chunk out of my shakey savings account.
That is WAY cool Donna!!How exciting....OMG...I'll have to go down there and buy one!!
I'll be like...."No...I dont need a haircut...could you please direct to Donna's bracelets though!!" Yeah...I'll have 20...gonna mail them to all my R-Ville buddies!
About the car stuff....THAT SUCKS!!
When it rains it pours...thats how it always happens for me too. Still looking forward to hearing about your appt.'s though.
I'm pretty excited about the bracelet thing too. Then my friend at church says I should give her a bunch of them and she'll take them to her "club" meetings. She has a large group of friends that meet regularly, almost like a club, and they like to buy stuff, lol. THEN, my other friend (the one that I travel with all the time and the one I'm going on the cruise with) said that she and a couple of people she works with are going to start selling stuff on eBay, and would I like to put some of my bracelets on their online store. I think SOMEONE is trying to give me a message, lol.
About the appointments...I'm excited to. I spent some time this weekend digging up old blood tests, all the path reports from the ampulla thing, etc. I plan to give the HR doctors as much info as I can possibly find, lol. Also very excited to see the mercury dentist...I'm so convinced that the mercury is a large contributor to my health issues.
Donna,That does suck about your car, sorry to hear! $400 is the price of a really nice set of shocks/struts for most cars. Obviously most the money you will spend is on labor of getting everything off to get to the struts, so while it's off you might want to replace both of them at the same time. Might be a tiny bit more but it will save $$ in the long run.
Thanks Dave!!!! I hadn't thought about that, but that's a great idea! I'm sure it wouldn't be long before the other one went too. The parts for Saturday's service were only $380-ish...the labor was $909!!!!! Unbelievable to me, lol.
I looked at the questionaire I must fill out, it is insanely detailed and of course I have left it to the lastI do the same thing, lol.
PLEASE tell me why I was a size 2 or 4 most of my life....and now.....can't lose weight to save my life....it may seem minor, but hell, when my figure goes......what will I do? removing gluten made me GAIN so much weight (15 - 20 pounds) and I DID need it, but don't want any more.....it's making me crazy...should I just start eating gluten like crazy to get my weight off?????????Meeeee tooooo!!! I have gained 10 pounds since going gluten free and can't seem to take it off, and I DIDN'T need it, lol. I only have 5 outfits that fit comfortably now. The only way I can take weight off is by cutting out most of the carbs--something I'm having a really hard time with lately. I am really having a hard time giving up the gluten-free goodies. If I just stick to meat, veggies and a little fruit I could drop the weight quickly.
and she always talks over her guests and panel of experts that she has onYep, this particularly bothers me...she asks an important question and her guest is answering, then she talks over and doesn't let them finish. This is one reason why I stopped watching most OTHER talk shows...hers seemed different, but not so much any more.
-
Quick hello to all...it's been an expensive day for me.
I took my car in for servicing. I knew this was a major service, so was expecting it to be around $400, plus one of the automatic locks wasn't working, so thought it would be more like $500 or maybe a little more...but holy moly...didn't realize it was time for a timing belt. YIKES! Ending up spending $1,200!!!! AND, one of my rear struts has a small leak, which isn't urgent so I can do it at my next service, but that's going to cost around $400! My car is just 7 years old, lol.
So, I'm keeping my appointments next week cuz they're consultations, but not sure how much I'll be able to do of what they tell me I need until after the first of the year, lol. Good gravy...root canal, crown, car, vacation, possible mercury overload. Talk about stressed adrenals, lol.
However, I had my hair done yesterday and my hairdresser said I could maybe sell a few of my bracelets there!
-
Patti,
The only thing that comes to mind about the tomatoes is when I was researching all the MSG stuff it always said no canned tomatoes. This was for someone highly sensitive though. Tomatoes are super high in glutamate and then when heated and processed the natural glutamates turn into the bad MSG. When I was learning that diet it said to avoid canned or cooked tomatoes. One symptom is burning sensations. The only other thing I can think of is that you might be sensitive to tomatoes??
Holy cow, lol...I was just coming on to complain about burning sensations on my arms...like a bad sunburn, but there is no redness or rash or any indication on the skin that anything is wrong. Yet, when my clothing brushes against my arms, its torture...guess what I ate this week that I haven't had in a couple of months...tomatoes...canned, crushed tomatoes! Muir Glen!!!!!!!!
I had to laugh about you "overkilling" all the insects.Sounds alot like Donna.
Yep, my house is bug free, naturally, lol.
-
Donna, I always bring a queen size air mattress....I'm telling you my camping trips are quite luxurious. Got a huge tent too....you can stand up in it...even walk around.
I'm not sure if they do any of that type of testing....I kind of doubt it though. I think they specialize in certain areas...digestion, allergies, adrenal, gluten sensitivity. Lyme and mercury was out of their territory so I was dismissed. They really did dismiss me but I wasnt at all upset about it since they told me which Dr. could help me better. They told me if I still didnt get anywhere with the new Dr.....I could come back and they'd try again. Obviously my new doc is figuring stuff out so I probably wont need to go back to HN.
If you end up seeing Dr. Rick and he asks how you found out about HN....tell him from Rachel....the really messed up girl who wears a baseball hat and cant handle chemicals. He used to say I was "special" but what he wanted to say was that I was really messed up. You can tell him I found out its Lyme Disease.
You're my kind of camper, lol. If I see Dr. Rick I'll tell him exactly that, lol. Not sure who I'll see...I was emailing back and forth a little with his wife, but don't know if I'll be seeing her.
Hey, I wonder if lyme is successfully treated if the food intolerances go away? Any thoughts my learned friends?Don't know but I sure hope so!!!
-
Sorry, I feel like I'm bursting in uninvited, but all this talk of mangy deer reminded me of a book I just read.
Everybody is welcome here!
-
So Rachel, was it the lyme/mercury specialist who sent you for the electronic testing...wonder if the HN doctors ever do that and what criteria need to be present for them to want to send someone. Hum, I'll ask on Tuesday.
-
Donna, the electronic testing is based on acupuncture principles, and the points on the body that connect to energy flow and all of the different body systems, organs, etc. When they test supplements against your body, they might look at the stomach point for digestability and the allergy point for allergy, for starters.
Okay, I guess, lol.
Nothing computes in my head these days--still think I'm not sure how the supplements get tested, lol.
PS...I'm not sure anyone could explain it to me in my present state...your words were plain enough to understand, lol.
Laura,That's great news. Now we have 4 appointments next week to look forward to.....five if you include the allergy/intolerance test for my kids and husband.
Rachel....Tuesday
Donna.....Wednesday
Laura......Wednesday
Rinne.......? What day is yours Rinne?
My family..Tuesday
Judy....let us know when your appointment is.
Six if you count the appointment I have on Tuesday with the HealthNow doctors.
Tuesday with HN, Wednesday with the mercury dentist--I'm so looking forward to them both.
Susan's right don't give it up!Tick pickin' parties can be fun - in the right company
Careful now, this is exactly how we got in trouble, um, oh, about 200 pages ago, lol.
Yeah....I suppose I am.Even though I love camping and outdoor activities....I gotta say...I wont camp anywhere that doesnt have all the amenities. I'm talking clean restrooms, showers, general store, boat ramp, picnic tables...etc....and you should see all the stuff I bring with me!
Ha, last time I went camping I took an air mattress! Little battery lamp...

x!
x, THAT IS REALLY EXCITING!!!!! I am so excited to hear this!

MommaGoose, our good friend and respected veteran member of the board, has informed me that she is going to eat worms. So i am starting this thread specifically for those of us who know and love her to cheer her up cuz she needs it. She's gonna kill me, but it'll take her awhile to get here so I've got time.
Goosey- You were one of my biggest supporters when I first joined this board. You were the one who encouraged me to take control of Celiac's and not let it control me when I was afraid to go horse back riding because of gluten.. If not for you, I wouldn't have spent last October riding till mu butt was sore. You rock..... there's no two ways about it and I think it's time for a love fest.
Worms are much to icky to eat!!! Time for a really big group hug!!! Try hard not to be discouraged, hope you are feeling better soon Momma!
Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Well, I looked up pilonidal cysts and some of what I read doesn't sound exactly like what I have and some does...the sorest spot is right where that bone ends, and I've never associated the pain with skin...more like muscle, but the way things are going for me lately, I not sure I can really tell anymore WHAT is bothering me, lol.
I had another ephiphany whilst sitting here this morning...I am seeing the mercury dentist today so decided I'd go look to see how many fillings I still have. I was thinking I had a ton of them, but in actuality, I only have 4 left...two very small ones in two of my front teeth, and two large ones in two molars. I have 5 gold crowns and the new procelain crown. I DID have fillings in all those teeth, all put in originally around the same time when I was around 12-14 or so (so 1967-to 1970ish). All the crowns have been put in in the last 10-12 or so years by the regular dentist I've been seeing...so, in other words, no precautions when removing the old amalgams...just the normal drill till it's gone, try to suck up the particles and put in a new filling or crown. Before the crowns almost all of those teeth had the fillings replaced at least once (by my current dentist)...in fact I'm certain I had to have crowns because of the refillings because shortly after they were refilled the tooth cracked in almost all of them (I think). I'm also certain that both of the root canals I've had done were a result of the redrillings.
So, the last 10-12 years is when my health started steadily decreasing...not bad at first, but having bronchitis, tonsilitis, etc. Things got really bad after my hysterectomy in 2001 with almost chronic infections and fatigue.
Sorry, I'm just rambling and putting my thoughts down...not sure why, lol, but I MUST remember to tell them all this both today and on Friday with the other doctors.
