  1. Today's experiment...mixing my concealor with a moisturizer for under my eye area. I'm noticing that that area tends to look pretty wrinkly by the end of the day, so I'm hoping mixing the concealor with the moisturizer will lessen that a bit.

I'm also wearing silver spoon, and am trying smokey pink again, with To Do List as a base. I'm determined to like Smokey Pink, lol. I used Smokey eyeliner today, but put it on with the Premium Lip Brush. I was using the lip brush for putting concealor on my small spots but have decided it works much better as a liner brush. :P

    Colleen,

Was it Cherry Fizz??? My Cherry Fizz doesn't roll up either...I never had it replaced cuz I'm not sure I love the lip glosses anyway, so I just use a lip brush to get it out.

Aw, Mango, that sample is very cute, lol. I purposely bought a few that are that size so I could carry them in my pocket when I don't want to carry a purse, but I think I paid $3 for 3 of them, lol.

Here's another serious question . . . are your symptoms for consuming dairy the same as gluten? how 'bout trace amounts?

Mine are different. It affects my head mostly, I get very congested, sinus infections, head spacyness, and vertigo. I get some "gluten" symptoms too which are usually gastrointestinal, but not as much and not as severe. Trace amounts aren't bad as long as I don't do the trace amounts every day. I think that's why I can do small amounts of sheeps milk once a week. The two times I have knowingly had gluten, I got bad stabbing pains in my abdomin...didn't get that with dairy.

Here's an off-topic question (yes, I consider it off-topic since it is a serious question):

To those who are or have ever been dairy free . . . Is goat chees OK or not?

I can't do goat... My issue is with the casein and apparently it isn't different enough for me. I LOVE goat cheese...makes me spit nails that I can't have it. :P Like Patti, I can tolerate a tiny bit of sheep milk yogurt (only once per week though).

Guess what, cult members? I got a raise today! Not a huge one (unexpected, though), but enough to give me a reason to celebrate. I wonder what i should buy to commemorate the occasion.......

WOOHOO!!!!!! Now THAT's exciting!!!!!! Too bad they don't have a color called "in the money" :P

Is everyone taking a multi vitamin? I just took one after not having taken one in months and months and WOW! BAD idea! I am in SO much pain, it's not even funny. :( They're even kids vitamins! Ahhhhh!

I am supposed to be taking one...but I'm lazy and I'm tired of spending so much money on supplements, lol, so I stopped.

See, this is why I am not allowed to have expanded cable......I would have watched this ALL DAY.....into the night.........and every day thereafter. *sigh* The Food Channel.......HGTV....... not allowed.

Ah yes, but not expanded cable...this came as part of my "basic broadcast channel" cheapie only $14 a month cable. :P

That and the Travel Channel, which oddly has some interesting tribal shows :P and lots of shows about, well, travel

Oh, and Sci-Fi channel which oddly fascinates me. :P

  7. Welcome Scotty...I hope you find some answers soon!

I had TONS of allergies when I was tested in 2002...just about everything they tested me for. I "knew" even back then that that wasn't normal...you don't go from having zero allergies to being allergic to everything overnight, lol. I also "knew" that the allergy shots weren't going to do a lot of good in the end because I had a feeling that "something" was causing it. It just took me 4 years to find out what. :P My allergies have greatly improved and am no longer getting the shots, and I believe that's because we finally started addressing the causes. Cutting out gluten and casein took a huge burden off my body, and finding out about lyme, metals and mold were also major pieces of the puzzle.

Foodwise, I'm not quite as limited as you, but my list got pretty small there for a while. I'm finally able to add a few things in as long as I don't eat them all the time.

Just wanted to give you a little hope...lyme may not may not be your answer, but don't give up trying to find it. You could also have secondary issues which cause some of your symptoms (like I do with mold toxicity and metals).

Just saw Tom Petty--his hair looks just like it did 20 years go when he was on the Gary Shandling Show :D

He looks good, though for his age. We enjoyed it.

Yes, and I thought he actually sounded better than when he was younger...really enjoyed his performance last night.

Yes, last two minutes VERY exciting, lol. Must admit I didn't watch much of the middle of the game (except for halftime)...it was so boring mostly that I was watching the Wedding Cake competition on the Food Network until the last two minutes of the game. :P

I tried a little trick for the eyeshadows - I put matte foundation on under it instead of the original glo or semi-matte I usually use and it really did make it last a lot longer. I still did have oily looking lids after 7 hours, though. I need a tried and true method for fixing this problem.

    ...

Donna your new avatar is really nice!

    ...

Did anyone order anything from any other mineral makeup companies recently?

I'm finding that dusting my eyelids with finishing powder is working to cut down the oil there...working really well for me.

    Thanks!

Nope, haven't actually ordered anything from any other companies YET, lol.

Do you guys think I should wait until the new site comes out? What if it's amazing!? I hope they don't add new make-up yet, I'm already spending too much money! LOL!

The cultess in me says order now and order later, lol, but understanding completely the spending too much money thing...well, I say order now and order later. :P

Donna, How often do you give yourself B12 shots? Is it still 1x week? That's interesting you have a bruise, I haven't bruised from them.

Yeah, I don't miss that every-two-hour taking care of feminine stuff, lol! HATED that, and for me it was more like every hour. but no more

I was giving myself the shots twice a week, I'm back to once per week for a couple of weeks, then I'll go back to two times a week. I don't know why it bruised so badly...it bruised almost immediately, but I guess it could have been because I rubbed it pretty hard with the cotton afterwards. Today I just swiped it a little bit, and it was bleeding a bit so I put a bandaid on it. So far, there's some discoloration, but not nearly as bad as last week, and it's in a line...not round! The bad one on my other leg is round. I don't know...I'm thinking being such a danger to myself, I should probably go to the doctor's office for these, lol.

So I was taking a bath and sweating profusely and then My heart beat was getting stronger and stronger. It felt like it was going to come out of my chest. Does this happen to anybody else, anyone, Rachel?

I get that heart thing, but not from the baths. I used to get it when I would lay down to sleep...and sometimes if I woke up in the middle of the night. I get it sometimes now, at all different times--can't find a pattern to it.

  11. Okay, today's experiment...also put my concealor on with a damp sponge. First I put on the finishing powder with the sponge, then the concealor on my spots and dark circles, then a light dusting of the finishing powder, then foundation. (Okay, so ignore my comment below about LAYERS, lol...I was talking ONLY foundation) :P

I'm loving Oasis...didn't think I would like that at first but wore it today even though I was wearing RED and it still looked good. I'm wondering now how it'd look at a light layer over one of my blush colors... my next experiment.

Also, I read in one of my books last night a tip about curling eyelashes...I usually just put the curler right at the lash line, count to 20 then put my mascara on. The book said to do the first curl close to the lashes, but to curl again a littler farther up the lashes, and even further up again if you can. I only did it twice, but it did seem to make my lashes a bit more visable.

Terri, yes, they have a great explanation on the EM website. Basically you tap a little of the minerals out into the cap (but since the samples are so small, I use a margerine lid), swirl your brush around in them, tap the excess minerals off the brush, then buff the brush onto your face in little circular motions. It's usually best to start with just a little bit of the minerals and keep adding layers until you achieve the coverage you want. I tend to not put a lot of layers on, but instead use a little bit of the foundation or a concealer and dab it on any of my bad spots, then just put a couple of light layers of the foundation on. The thing you DON'T want to forget is to tap off the excess on your brush before putting the brush on your face...if you don't it'll look like you got hit with a powder puff on that spot, lol...you can still blend that out, but it takes a little work, lol.

There are some real make-up queens on here that are much more knowledgeable than me.

 I have to laugh at this...I've definitely become a queen since starting to use this makeup, lol. Before that, not so much. :P

Thanks for the link Cheri...I'll go vote tomorrow from work...I have a slow dial-up connection at home, but have a fast T1 connection at work, so it'll be MUCH easier tomorrow, lol.

  12. Sorry folks...I keep getting debug errors every time I press a key here (like about 20 messages for every time I try to hit "quote", lol), so I'll have to catch up tomorrow.

I had another "best" massage today, lol. This girl is just really good. She worked extra long on my neck and shoulders and also did my stomach again. This time when she did my stomach, everything was VERY tender. I guess maybe I am having some sort of flare. I had the skin burning again today (and a little bit yesterday evening).

Good news...got an email from the mortgage company and my refinance was approved!

  13. Okay, so I haven't logged on here since YESTERDAY, so I didn't know the latest talk, but I also wanted to test out a couple of things...

Before I jumped into the shower I saw my little mix of New Car Smell and whatevertheheck I mixed it with sitting there. I tapped a little bit out and stuck my finger in a little water then used it to swirl around in the lid...then onto my checks. Looked VERY NICE!!!!

So after my shower, I decided I want to try the "primer" wet...so I took my finishing powder and a little sponge that I bought from True Minerals, and applied it wet. LOOKED GREAT. I dusted a little bit more all over then put on my foundation (dry). It looked SOOOO good--all day--even through a massage, lol.

I also tried spring pink again...I am determined to like EVERYTHING I buy at EM, lol. I put on the spring pink and some silver lip gloss over that, then a very sheer-almost-clear pink gloss over that. Looked very nice. I think next time I'll start with the silver, then the spring pink, then a clear gloss.

    Kassandra,

Funny about the EVOO...I've used it on my legs before (coconut oil too), but never thought about my face. It can't take very much... I like the idea of natural stuff--I currently use ProActive, and that stuff HAS to have industrial strength chemicals in it, lol.

    Em,

Ooooh, your order is really fun!!

    I haven't QUITE purchased EVERYTHING....YET. :P

Soft Touch is in the order that's on it's way...I'm excited to try it.

I just don't seem to get the coverage that the rest of you do. Do you mix the powders and how do you tap them out?

Hi Sarah...well, yeah, it can take some practice. You might want to try some different brushes...which ones do you have? You can also put on several thin layers.

I don't mix my foundation powders...I use a margarine lid and I tap a little out onto the lid, then swirl my brush around in it...since I don't have a hard sided container I just sort of tap the brush handle with my other hand, so any loose minerals fall back onto the margarine lid. I start with the area of my face that needs the most coverage, and I swirl and swirl it into my skin in little circular movements. I repeat that process 2 or 3 more times if necessary. It also helps to use a concealor for the bad spots...if you don't want to buy a concealor, I've just used my foundation before and that works too...I use a small brush and just dab some foundation on the spots.

I forgot...I also got the angled brow brush. Anyone have any tips for using it? Thanks!

Well, up to now I've been using it for purposes other than as a brow brush. I tried putting eye liner on with it. I have mixed feelings about how well THAT worked, lol. I've used similar brushes to do that before, also with mixed feelings, lol.

I've used it to sort of "smudge" my eyeliner lines a little bit more...works pretty well for that.

I tried using it to apply eye shadow, but didn't particularly care for that use. But today...today I used it as a brow brush and it worked quite well. I used a little bit (emphasizing LITTLE bit, lol) of medium brown brow color and just sort of lightly brushed it on with the angled brush. Looked very nice and the brush worked well.
