  1. Donna, sometimes when I need salt I crave certain things ... usually it's plain potato chips. I think it's specific items for me because they're things that don't upset my stomach. I think I generally need the fat/calories as well, so it's always fatty/salty food. :)

Well, I can't imagine it's the fat or calories with me! I get plenty o'that, lol! I tend to eat between 1800 and 2000 calories a day and usually about 50% of that is fat. Also hard to imagine it's salt because I also eat TONS of salt...not just any kind of salt, but at work I use Celtic Sea Salt which has a bunch of minerals and stuff, at home I use sea salt on my food and also have been using the Himalayan Salt in my supplement shakes at night. I literally coat my food with salt. I am not joking either.

It can't be the potatoe or the corn cuz otherwise I would crave one more than the other I'd think. :P

  2. Hello and welcome!

Yes, it was a symptom for me anyway. That was one of the first things that cleared up when I went gluten and casein free. It was getting to the point where I was considering surgery to open up the passages and the post nasal drip was horrible. I was getting sinus infections in cycles of every 5-6 weeks or so for THREE years!

That all cleared up after I went gluten/casein free at the end of 2005. I have only had a couple of episodes since then, and neither turned into an infection and the post nasal drip is gone.

  3. Donna,

Do u know if music groups perform each Dec wkend or just Xmas? I would've guessed more than Xmas but I wouldn't want to set the over/under. (Ok who's gambling literate??

I think it's pretty much throughout December. I know we've performed there as early as the 14th or so of December...and I don't think that was the first day it was opened. We usually sing on weeknights as opposed to weekend nights, although I do think one time we sang on a Friday or Saturday night.

No one ever called me an amateur botanist but aren't some plants fine w/ taking a piece (aaaaargh I think I know what term I want to use, but it's stuck) that'll grow into a full, cleaner plant?

Not a graft is it? I was thinking something else.

That would feel like the same plant to me.

 Cutting... yes, I actually have done that, but put up the  face because, I never did plant it...it's just sitting in a glass of water getting all slimey. Probably full of mold.

I guess Donna would be one example. Her ART results clearly identified Lyme as a main factor in her illness....she wasnt convinced (cant blame her...I was pretty surprised with her results too  )

She got the Dr. to order the lab tests.....and sure enough she tested positive for Lyme.

Yep, this is exactly what happened. I started suspecting lyme early on in this thread when someone posted a link to 75 or so symptoms...I have or have had 47 of them!

I started going to the BioSET place for the electrodermal testing basically to see if I could have lyme before spending the money on bloodwork and expensive doctors, lol. They tested me on my first visit, but didn't find anything related to lyme. Bug bites and insects kept coming up in my testing, so they tested me a second time for lyme a couple of months later and still didn't find lyme.

So basically I gave up that idea, and went back to thinking metals and candida were my problems. I decided to try ART to see which one of them was causing the majority of my problems...I felt like I was going back and forth trying to self treat, and I needed to know which one to focus on.

In that first ART session, he said that Lyme was my main problem and it was affecting my thyroid. I was extremely skeptical! I mean, BioSET didn't find it and it had been so accurate in everything else. Still, the ART practitioner suggested I get blood work to confirm it. So I did, and indeed, the bloodwork came back positive for IgG exposure, and some INDs on the IgM.

Apparently BioSET didn't find it because I am not sensitized to it...maybe because the IgG is more of a "past" exposure or long term exposure...I don't know, but if I hadn't had ART done, I would have not known about the lyme and would still be no closer to knowing what was wrong with me.

A bonus to all that was that the doctor I saw for the lyme tested me for all kinds of things...not just lyme, and of course also found that I have mold toxicity.

So, I still don't understand HOW it works, and don't really care anymore, lol, but I just know it was enough to get me in to the doctor...maybe even to disprove it...

Wow, where did that post come from...me queen of two line posts.

The only water I've been drinking is Penta water (which is really expensive) or distilled water. I dont like Whole Foods brand distilled water cuz I can taste the chemicals from the plastic. I've been using Arrowhead and tastes pretty clean to me.

Must make mental note of this.

Actually BioSET isnt muscle testing....its energetic testing using computerized equipment.....(electromagnetic testing with an EAV device).

ART is a form of muscle testing.

Egads, of course it is. I actually knew that, but must have had a mental fart or something.

    What about fresh flowers?

Well, I don't think mold is necessarily a huge problem there, but I have problems with them in general...my eyes burn when someone has them too close to my desk. I'll have to ask my allergist for sure, but I thought the mold was mainly in the soil...could be wrong though.

I wonder if sugar makes taste buds stupid. Well, incapable of discerning whether or not something is good for you.

This theory works for me and I'm going to run with it!

  4. Okay, is anyone having trouble getting onto to LN? I've tried all day long, both at work and at home to get to the message boards over there and can't connect. From home I'm getting the gateway timeout message and from work was getting a server message. I thought it was just work, but can't get on from here either. :( Did I get banned. Sheesh, I haven't even participated in any of the controversy over there. :P

  5. Plants have mold?

Well according to my two allergists they do, lol. This was one of the first things my allergist told me 5 years ago when he first tested me and I tested positive for mold allergy. Then when he retired and the new allergist took over, I was retested and still tested reactive to mold, they told me to get rid of the plants too. I had already done that mostly, but I did something nice for a secretary in one of our other offices and she sent me a really nice plant...then my co-workers got me one too. Then of course, there's the one my dad had for 20 years or so in his house...when he died I wanted the plant, and I've had it for 11 years now...it's just GOT to be full of mold...in fact I swear I can see a little. I just have to decide if I can part with the plant. I haven't been able to get rid of it yet...just can't.

Do you know if you guys are going to be singing this year at the park? It would be so neat to see you there! Of course, we all have to get out to California first! I have always wanted to go there! You said your group is actually quite small. Usually, only large groups perform at things like that.

Pretty sure...the only thing that might change that is if they don't have a night available that works for us as a group, although I think they invite us back each year, and I think last year they gave us lots of choices. Our small group has 6 (including me)...we are probably going to be adding at least a couple more people in September though...our church is merging with another church and we thought it would be nice to have some people from there join us.

Our choir has also sung the National Anthem at the SF Giants game...I think we did that two or three times...I've done it twice with them, but I think they did it another time when I couldn't go.

Can I buy shares of the Rinne bars?

Yeah, are you taking investors? Or at least selling cases to friends?

    Yes, great idea!

  6. Have you or anyone else found a way to test a way for corn intolerance other than trial and error. Please let me know, as I think we may be in the same boat. I hope you're feeling better though

Hello and welcome! I had two skin scratch allergy tests for foods...the only food that showed up was oats, but yet I react to lots of foods. I even did an elimination diet, or tried to, but couldn't really do it right because I never got to a point where I wasn't reacting to something. Turns out the base "safe" diet, included lots of things I am reacting to. I found that out by doing a form of muscle testing called BioSET. I used that list to form my base diet and now I'm trying to add foods back in.

Had our phone consult ... Chloe has a slightly elevated lead level, we'll start chelating next month. She has a clinical diagnosis of Lyme. We will be observing her reaction to antibiotics (see if she improves or herxes).

If you want to know what he's giving her, PM me.

I'll tell you about mine later, gotta go.

    I'll be PMing you!

Of course, being here, Lyme will be the 1st thing I want to check if I start going downhill again.

I've considered getting pre-emptive tests. Maybe I should just go ahead and do it.

Or would not feeling the effects yet make it not show even if it is hiding, waiting to strike? Hmmmmmm

I didn't think I was having a lot of symptoms of lyme and yet my test came back positive. Course, now I know that many of them are indeed symptoms of lyme.

    Donna!

    I wonder if I saw u sing!

I'd always stop to listen, but only went once in the last few yrs.

Well, I think we've sung there the last 4 or 5 years. I didn't sing with the choir this last Christmas though cuz I was in Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama Canal...

She mentioned that it sounded like a herx ... this is GREAT! A herx and I'm not flat on my back!!! I think she's right because little things have been bothering me that normally don't. I actually cried last night that I couldn't sleep  , crying is ALWAYS a sign of a herx ... I don't really cry otherwise.

    ...

She said that my herxes could be lightening up and might be more mild now. Maybe this is because the babesia has lightened up so much. Everyone on LN seems to think the babs herxes are the worst.

Wow, this is great!!!! Yay! Something for me to look forward to though...I supposedly also have Babs, Bart and Erl-a-whatever...guess I really should learn how to spell that if I've got it. :P

Cool!! I cant remember if I ever watched a choir sing there or not. I'm usually going later in the evening when the crowd dies down some. One year I went for all the festivities of "tree lighting ceremony"....I'm sure there must have been a choir that night. I dingo'd it though.

We usually sing at 7 or 8 at night...not a lot of people around then, lol. The last couple of years they've had the kids' choir go first then we sing at 8. Our small group sang two Christmases ago...I was terrified because we had actually just formed as a group and that was our first performance. :o Yikes.

Anyway, I can't afford to go on vacation this year, so I'll probably be there with the choir unless I'm too sick. ;)

Hey Donna....I just recently noticed that the Dr. who put this list of foods together is Dr. Vincent Marinkovich.

He's actually the mold Dr. that Scott wanted me to go see after I had my first ART session. Dont know if you recall that I was planning on seeing this mold Dr. in Redwood City?? There was also another guy....about an hour away....but I was gonna see Dr. Marinkovich first.

I got all the paperwork from his office but never made the appt. I dont know how helpful it could be to me right now....seems like nothing can be as beneficial as getting the metals detoxed.

Now that Scott is more familiar with me and my issues...I think I'll ask him what this guy can do....if anything...to improve my situation with molds. I could see if the molds were an issue on their own...but since the metals are behind it...holding the molds in place...it seems like it might be fruitless.....cant hurt to find out more though.

Hum, must have dingo'd everything about this, lol. I wonder if he could help me. Dr. S wasn't very reassuring in the mold department. I keep remembering what he said on my first appointment (BEFORE he saw the actual results of my mold toxicity test), that in his experience it will be really tough for me to get better as long as I'm exposed to mold.

Now that I KNOW I have mold toxicity, well... :P

Scott never says much about mold during my sessions...maybe next time I'll ask him specifically about this.

Just today, I DID move the two plants I had sitting two feet away from my head at work. I put them further away as a little test.

  7. Aw, I'm so sorry!

Enterolab is only able to tell you if you have a sensitivity to gluten, etc. They can't diagnose Celiac. You may still have gluten intolerance (and thus a problem with gluten) and not have Celiac, which is what the blood testing and biopsies are looking for.

Were you gluten free before your blood test and biopsy? If so, that may be why they didn't find anything, especially if you'd been gluten free for a while.

I did the Enterolab testing and about 5-6 months later had the biopsies and blood testing. Neither the blood test nor the biopsy showed any damage, but both my doctor and I agreed that it probably wouldn't after nearly 6 months gluten free.

Still, he wasn't a big fan of the stool type testing for antibodies, but he did agree that diet response alone was a good indicator.

  8. I'm very interested whether anyone has any experience/insight into what I call the "Algernon Effect".

So, is Charly the mouse or the human?

Seriously though...I think I know what you mean. I think many of us have had our hopes up only to be let down...doesn't necessarily only apply to health, but that's certainly what we're all dealing with the most here lately.

I'm taking it one day at a time...I'm currently celebrating that I have a bunch more energy today than I had even a few weeks ago!

Any and all replies are appreciated.

It's gotta be 80-90% SJ but so far the guys I'd get a house w/ can't until maybe late Aug. So I'd prob then want a few weeks in Portland (w/ sister) instead of Phx in Aug.

I've been to Portland enough to know the gloom. Summer has many good days tho.

Of course, it's all dependent on keeping algernon away. <shudder>

And what pray tell does the algernon effect have to do with it? Because you wouldn't be well enough? I'm so sad for all of us who have had to put off doing what we want because of our health!

Well, it ain't no 115 here, but it's been dang hot here the last few days. :P

  9. There were months and months where nothing I did seemed to make much difference and that made it difficult to have confidence in what I was doing but now I realize that when you get really ill it takes time to recover.

Yes, this is hard to remember but key I think!

Now I feel like I just better try it before I move. I belong in San Jose. Well, maybe Portland.

Either way I need out before the stretches of 115 degrees begin.

    (What's a word beyond heinous?)

    uberheinous? megaheinous? Death?!

P.S. Reminded of some lyrics hehe

    "I was a poor magician

    I could never understand

    You can't make tears

    disappear through sleight of hand"

    timbuk3

Ah yes, but a chocolate bumble bar with peanut butter can sure help. :P

  10. MUIR GLEN = heinosity!!! Icky stuff which I do react to. I DO buy the 365 organic canned tomatoes and seem to do okay with them though. I think they also have citric acid, but that's about the only source I get of it.

Holy cow, I'm half hispanic too, but don't know any of that stuff. I may have had a chorizo or two, but don't know much about the other stuff (wasn't raised any hispanic influence obviously, lol).

    Wow, excellent scientificness by Lisa!!

Carla - Amazing about that doctor! What's most aggrevating is that he has KNOWN you for so many years!!! It's bad enough with a new doctor, but to have someone you've had a history with for so long say stupid things is just weird. :P Besides, most lyme doctors don't just look for lyme and don't just treat for lyme...and at least with my doctor, they don't RUSH to any kind of treatment. I think most want to actually TREAT the right thing.

    (Kids of old girlfriend)

    Ah! Cute girls. :)

Oh and Chapter 3 is Titled: Mr. Mosquito Hates Mercury!

Supposed don't-miss PBS series starts tonight!

    Oooops, missed it.

Anna had me tested for antibodies to aspergillus because the problem with aspergillus kept showing up so prominently. I was negative on all the aspergillus tests so I dont have an infection....just really sensitive to it. I used to smoke...Anna said cigs are loaded with aspergillus mold.

I've got it all. :( All three of the biggies. :(

Best thing is that now I'm not the ONLY one here doing it!

:P Still no convert here though...

Heck.....all along its just cuz you're not hungry!

This never stops me from eating. Ever... Never...

Today was a really good day ( though I am awake in the middle of the night that is in part because I fell asleep at nine) I cleaned thoroughly, put away a ton of stuff, rehung pictures and generally made our little house into a pleasant space to be in. I've been laying on the couch looking at a disaster zone for the past week.

We moved everything out of the closet, small second bedroom, and turned it into my office and as a result half the closet has been sitting in the living room.

It's sooooo very good to see you feeling so good!!!

Hi, sorry I can't really keep up reading the posts on this thread...but wanted to let you know that my lyme has recurred.

    Gosh, I'm so sorry!!!

P.S. Mornin' Donna! I got up @donnatime today!

Didn't want to. Thought getting to sleep earlier would make for extra sleeping time.

But noooooooooo, instead I wake @4:30am.

Tried getting back to sleep, but how long can ya try before giving up? (Me=not very long. Too much exp over many yrs lying in bed wishing I were asleep & so have avoided that situation for >10yrs)

Morning, lol! Yes, it's 6:38 here and I've been at work for at least 50 minutes or so, maybe an hour. For once I actually SLEPT til my alarm went off at 4:20!

  11. Oh Lisa....I am soooooo happy for you!!!! Yay! I was truly getting worried about you and this NP sounds very, very good! And yes, perhaps only a teaspoon or less rather than a tablespoon.

Silly Rhonda...indeed, where do you think you are.

GRUMP!!! That is a great story...it sounds like you had a great time! Phew, so glad the car was still there...was the camera?

one was - fresh garden salad......and the other was, garden tomatoes....... the other two food choices were equally bizarre

That is just so wrong!

When in Willow Glen which coffee place do u 2 walk to? I'd guess it's her "usual" and that it's almost certainly Peet's or Starbucks (either in that order or depending on which is slightly closer) but I swear the WGCRC (CoffeeRoastingCo) is far superior in all ways.

Hum, wonder if the WGCRC is related to the Campbel CRC? Have one just down the street from me. :P Too bad I can't drink it right now... Hum, maybe I can just have one ONCE in a while.

Jin, if you are not dairy-intolerant, try taking some shredded sharp cheddar cheese and frying little mounds of it in a little butter (flip with a spatula to fry both sides). Yum Yum Yum!!!!

I uesd to do this too...yummy. I didn't do it with the butter, but hey, if you can do dairy, do the butter, cuz everything is better with butter. :P

So, the pipes needed to be cleaned. waiting for mag citrate to take effect

It's been 2 hours and so far nada. Gosh I hope it's outta me soon. YUCK a DOOKIE

Oh, hope that goes okay for ya!

Oh and grrrrrrr - turns out my newly REdiscovered REinfatuation w/ music has a downside. W/ the Stones' "Sticky Fingers" blarin' (best rock'n'roll album EVER btw), I was rockin' at a stoplight hard enough I hurt my neck!!! LOL and boohoo

To paraphrase a wise man... well dahyum, that ain't no fun!

  12. Does anyone have trouble with ground meats like turykey or beef or chicken. I notice I was eating my ground turkey meat that I cooked in a frying pan, no oil just water. Then My guts started to pop and bubble. Is that an intolerance? Is this why I am still losing weight?

Not with ground beef or turkey, but I have a problem with chicken in any form. :(

Here we go - some late nights I've read back for grins. And it ranges from amusing to insightful [edit: to heart-wrenching ups & downs and] back to hilarious etc. (Hehe as if I have to tell YOU all)

But the thing is it feels like someone who didn't start watching Seinfeld until, say, season 7, grew to know and like the characters etc, then started catching the reruns.

Just reading old pages w/out knowing most of the cast would definitely be a lot different and not near as worthwhile.

Bumped into the birth of the attack geese today!

 This has been a fun, magical place. :P I had fun last week going back too.

We had a lot of fun last summer. :D The "cast" is mostly the same, with some additions and subtractions. Floridian cleared all her posts so you miss the fun with her unless it was quoted by someone.

It's too bad cuz her posts were some of the funniest you can imagine!

I'll assume there are no plans for a bball court or roller-hockey rink.

I am a huge fan of almond butter!! I love it but i have to say i still love Peanut butter too. My favorite almond butter is this brand KEttle (Ithink thats the name) for some reason i think it tastes better than the other brands.

Yes, I buy this brand of hazelnut butter. I've also tried the cashew butter from them, but not sure I've tried almond butter...it's not cheap in my WF.

This doesnt seem to work too well for me.

All of the things which really make my taste buds happy are the things that I shouldnt be eating and end up causing reactions.....basically everything that tastes good is off limits.

Oh....theres also plenty of stuff that doesnt taste good thats off limits as well...one that comes to mind is quinoa. GROSS.

Ditto!!! I definitely go soley by what I think tastes good. :P Although, I am finding that my tastes have changed a bit here and there.

I thought of one more thing that may or may not be helpful to you. For a long time now I've taken ALL my supplements out of their capsules and have only taken the powder in water.

I'm really sensitive and can even react to the capsules themselves...whatever they're made from...vegetable sources, gelatin, etc.

Yep, the geletin showed up for me in my BioSET testing so I've been taking stuff out of the capsule for a few weeks now...I do think it's making a difference for me.

    hope this helps

    Barb

    Hello Barb.

  13. Oh daa-yum, that's no fun at all.

    Story of my life!

Okay, I've actually had a whole lot of fun in my life, but apparently not so much with food anymore.

    Showoff! Posting from the market!

So I wonder if I should stop any detox thing right now? I don't want to mobilize the mercury from the almagams. I wonder if this is making me sicker. And with the constipation and leaky gut. I just don't know what to do.

Well, it could make you sicker if you are doing to much too quickly that's for sure. I wish I could give you an answer on what to do, you are just so sensitive to everything it seems.

  14. Well, I for one would LOVE to rachel a jar of PB right now, lol. Like my almond and cashew butters, but oh man, I really want me some PB.

Oh, I used to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE PB on toast, with just a little bit of all fruit jam on it. YUM!!!! Miss that for breakfast actually. :(

I'm still having some issues--the nausea and diarrhea came back on Thursday, but I was okay yesterday. I got set off after eating peanut butter, which I've never reacted to before. Who knows? Maybe it's a legume thing?...Isn't it frustrating when a "safe" food sets you off?!?!?

I USED to be able to eat PB without issue, but suddenly in the last few months I just can't do it. Really makes me sad...love my PB on Choc Bumble Bars.

I've got to add that I'm excited about seeing Dr. Elizabeth. You know she and Amy are both good just for the fact that they've trained so much with Klinghardt.

I am very excited FOR you!!! Can't wait to hear all about this!

YAY! I've been having real days lately, too ... which is why I haven't had time to be on here.

I knew it...was just thinking this yesterday!!! You said once a few months ago that when you feel good you're out and about and don't post as much.

She'd put them in their high chairs, put maple syrup on their hands, then give them feathers to play with!!!

    I LOVE it!

Actually it involves my ex....the one that causes me stress (and not always intentionally). The one that I cant completely move on from cuz of this heinous illness holding me back.

AW, HUGGGSSSS, Rachel! I don't know why we set ourselves up sometimes, but sometimes we just do. You are strong and you'll figure out what to do and what to do about the consequences if you make the wrong choice.

Because, I totally have a CARB hangover today - - you would NOT believe the amount of snacks I consumed yesterday......it was just a giant carb binge, something I hardly EVER do, and today......UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feel SICK!!!!!!!!!!! Pizza, cereal, tort. chips, yummy bread from Wh. Foods - - what was I thinking???????????????????

    ...

these cocktails have magical restorative qualities (Donna!) and do no harm at all. Bev would be jumping on trampolines in NO time!!!

Hey, I jumped on a trampoline today.

So, should I not share that I can now eat peanut butter, and made Eric a frozen peanut butter cheesecake for his bday in April?

I'm so happy you can eat again that you could tell me you ate a whole case of chocolate bumble bars with a case of PB and I'd be thrilled for you!!!

I'm sure it can be true in many cases and it makes perfect sense but going by the 'family' used in biological classification, wheat is in the same family as corn, rice, millet, sorghum, wild rice etc.

Yep, have trouble with all of those things. :(

I still feel that way about some of the stuff that I have no experience with...but some stuff does interest me alot....like the LED.

Same here, and if I hadn't talked to you on this thread for so long I doubt I would have been interested in any of it.

That was last summer....I ate massive amounts of sweet potatoes (I think about 8 a day?? ).

I think I got really brainfogged and just plain out of my mind....spilled out all kinds of mushiness to my ex. You'd think I had been out partying and had a few too many drinks.

LOL....yeah....you think I would learn by now!!!

I remember telling you all this last year.....as if I were handling things soooo much better.

    Hello....obviously I'm regressing here.

I'm blaming it on the yams! :P

  15. I haven't been able to understand one thing related to this - ppl sometimes say the symptom can be due to food consumed up to 3 days before!

This certainly seems true in my case. I can have a reaction anywhere from a few hours after eating something to a couple of days after...it depends on what it is in the food that made me react I think. Anyway, I've had two allergists tell me that if I did a rotation diet, to eat a food no more often than every fourth day, so a three day window in between, because it can take as long as 3 days for a reaction to crop up. I don't know, I often WISH I would react right away so I could definitely tell what caused what! It would also keep me from eating stuff I know I shouldn't because the reaction would be swift. :P

  16. I also thought of something in common all 4 days I felt horrible.. work. That's it I'm allergic to work. Can I get a doctor's excuse for that?

Came to that same conclusion myself a few months ago...didn't work...well, maybe it might now since I've been diagnosed with a few new things. :P

But seriously, a food diary is a really, really good way to see what's going on, and to notice trends over time. Be sure to right down your symptoms everyday too, that way you can see when you feel really good and when you feel really bad, and you can go back over the few days before each symptom came up to see what you may have eaten that could have affected it. I also write down new medications/supplements, or if I increase or decrease medications/supplements.
