  1. Todays news from Laura is a wonderful example of why this thread is so precious to us.

As to the Mars/Venus thing, could be.

Essentially you walked into a room with a group of mostly women who have formed a close friendship, some of us have been talking to eachother for over a year and most of us have been through HELL. It has been not only our illness, which is devasting enough, but with doctors who have treated us without respect and family and friends who think we're crazy.

If we are protective it is only because this is one of the few places we come to and know we are safe.

    We are AMAZON.

Rinne can be our spokesperson anytime! I agree with all of this.

Donna- You have a beautiful smile (from your other avatar) so I crown thee Smiley Spice.

I like it!! :P although old avatar is more a guffaw than a smile...but I do smile too.

Tom (Murph)- yeah...you can go play that's great! And it could very well be the Mars/Venus thing. I think we also feel very protective of each other because we've been through so much in the 1171 pages of this thread! So, we are women hear us ROAR! Not at you, but at the thought of getting healthy!!!!

    Yep, agree with this too.

We have grown very close over the last year. I'm the healthiest as far as symptoms go but I'm not taking that for granted. I'm also not sure if I have a candida problem and I'm not going there until my little guy is weaned late next year. He had enough of a problem with the tiny bit of chlorella I was taking.

    ...

We welcome newcomers, this is not a clique, it's a growing family.

Yep, agree with this too.

Amazonian Lyme Ladies of the Rachelville Paradise Cult Farm in-the-Mountains-by-the-Sea.

Holy guacamole how can you remember all that. :P

Yup...this thread is near and dear to us....our home away from home...the one place where the light is always on and everyones always welcome.

Yep, including people from both venus and mars.

  2. I don't think that's anywhere near true, unless maybe the celiac was caught way b4 massive damage occurred.

That'd be like saying a horribly sick celiac who doesn't have candida would be fine the day after they go gluten-free!

I'm sorry, I should just stay out of it, but I think this may be what Rachel was responding to...

Sorry, I'll keep out of it, promise.

  3. Oh, and I have a question which I hope can be answered. After the endoscopy I was told that everything looked normal, but obviously the biopsy results are the key. How often will the intestine look normal on the endoscope but show signs of celiac under the microscope? I'm not sure if I should take those results as an early sign of my not having celiac or not.

I would think that there would have to be MASSIVE damage to be visible during the scope. I think, although can't state any studies, that quite often the damage is not seen until the biopsies are studied under a microscope.

  4. and continuing

Also...and this is another interesting thing that kind of led me to look more into chemicals and other things people can react to in foods. I have NO food allergies...no allergies to anything actually....been tested for lots of stuff and I'm totally negative with allergies.

I never felt like I have allergies anyway...my reactions seem to change in severity according to how toxic I am or how much candida I have.

Same here. I tested fine for food allergies...only reacted to oats. BioSET said something different of course and turned out to be very accurate.

And I feel the same about the environmental allergies...I tested and reacted to them, but I don't feel like I have them. Doesn't make sense, does it. But I told my doctor yesterday that I am almost positive they (the allergies) developed because of something else going on in my body.

Someone doesn't go from having NO allergies to being allergic to everything overnight, which is what seemingly happened to me. She just looked at me like  . :P And, my allergies, even to trees, etc. don't react like normal allergies. I don't sneeze, I don't have watery, itchy eyes, nothing. A lot of my symptoms were explained away as "allergy related" but weren't helped by allergy medicines, shots, etc. Only when I started figuring out all the other issues, did the symptoms improve.

And besides, we are all strange here.

Yes we are, and I love that about us.

Ooh--first some big news--Mark has accepted a position with a company in Upper Bucks County, PA! This means that we will eventually relocate there--he will commute for now. Lots to do to get the house ready to sell, etc--my anxiety is at an all time high

Congratulations!!! So THAT was the mystery a few dozen pages back. :P How exciting!!!

I think you're misinterpreting. I think that what she means is that it can be treated and since the cause of it is no longer there, it will go away. It won't be something that's an ongoing, forever problem because the initial cause is gone.

Whereas, if you didn't know the intitial cause, it wouldn't matter how long you treated because it would keep coming back.

Yeah, this was how I understood it too.

I return to that moment where I understood that with each breath I have a choice.

I can lean toward illness or I can lean toward wellness and the leaning itself has power, if the leaning is supported with nutrition, detoxification and treatment then wellness may be realized. Conversely, if I lean toward ill health even with nutrition, detoxification and treatment I may not ever get well. What is that?

I see a lot of people get tangled up in their sickness, their sickness becomes a belief system they imbed their lives in. I am not interested in that.

What can be poison for you may be cure for me, what cures me may harm you, the road to wellness is as unique as the person walking it.

Wow, very profound and very true...I really LOVE the way you put things.

  5. Almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, filberts/hazelnuts and pecans.

Yeah, I'm eating almonds cashews and walnuts, but rotating them so I don't eat the same ones all the time. These tested okay for me in all my testing...both traditional and alternative.

Ya the candida die-off is more like the flu. A little nausea thrown in but nothing like the all-encompassing 2ton nausea gotten while eating the wrong things.

My die-off was 2.5-3 days. And wasn't until the ND's pills. On the diet I was just feeing better every day for a week.

I can't remember if I had the nausea too, but probably did. The headaches started right away...either same day or next day of starting the diet, the aches came on either the second or third day and lasted the entire 2 weeks. :( Didn't even start taking Nystatin for quite a few months after that.

When you start back after the two weeks wouldn't you start at the dose you previously left off at?

Probably, lol. I don't know though, we'll see. I don't think I'll try to increase the amount (other than from yesterday to today with the second dose) more than every couple of days though.

    Donna...good luck with the cumanda!!

    Was this from Dr. S.??

    ...

I did not rachel that sunflower butter if that tells you anything.

Dr. Scott  suggested the cumanda and banderol (on a rotation)...I haven't run it by Dr. S yet. :P He'll probably just roll his eyes and say okay. :P

Glad I didn't try the sunflower butter then! ;)

Do you all ever feel like screaming, like a three year old, "it's not fair?!?!?" I'm actually envious of people who just go gluten free and they're good to go; gluten-free is a breeze compared to all this other stuff!

Actually, I haven't felt that way yet. I try not to think about the fairness of it...it is what it is and I'm doing everything I can to fix it. It IS frustrating though...most definitely...and I DO feel like screaming sometimes. :P It really would be great to NOT have to think about something before I ate it. All I really want to do is sit down with a big ole baked potato with sour cream and have a jar of peanut butter with chocolate chips for dessert.

    A water what from who?

    LOL just kiddin'

I don't remember if I've told you I like your new one you had up earlier today.....I think it's still the same this evening.

Let's see- Donna, I LOVE your new avatar!!!!!!!!What is it a painting of???

Thank you! It's not of anything that's real, lol. One day I wanted to paint mountains, so just made it up. There's a little eagle soaring in the lower left corner, but it's hard to see.

Donna is a nut - - how about Nutty Spice?

this just doesn't sound like something that should go up the scat hole - - A FIRE HOSE????

    lunatic

Hum, thought nutty spice was taken, but it fits in more ways than one. :P

Oh, I totally agree about that fire hose heiniosity being so wrong on so many levels.

Heinous about the Sips Wine with Dingos incident. :P

  6. What type of allergies do you get shots for? I wish I could get some...

Check out sunbutter.com for Sunflower seed butter. Looks pretty allergy friendly... I saw that they used soynuts in their trail mixes though for those who can't have that (cc issues maybe).

    ------------

I haven't had one single Banana today and my stomach hasn't been half as bloated/swollen. So far anyways. :) I actually read that Banana turns into this foam in the intestines..

I'm getting them for environmental allergies like Trees, mold (yes, there's mold again :( ), and a few other things...sage I think...I've had them for the last 4.5 almost 5 years and I'm sick of them.

I'll check out the website! Love to have one more nut butter to rotate with my almond, cashew and walnuts.

I'm so glad you have less bloating today...you were eating a LOT of bananas. :P

  7. Oh Rachel...just finished watching a swimming with dolphins in Cozumel segment on the travel channel.

and right after that was a tequilla tasting segment.

I got more mercury poison today because of the dentist and they fixed 2 fillings. Lots and lots of exposure now I feel real sick, depressed, lost, gurgly guts. Did this happen to you

Yep, I got sick after each removal too. Almost like the flu...which kind of lasted a while now that I think about it.

so do I get a spice name?

Mia, I don't have a spice name yet either... :P

I agree with what everyone has said- you and i may have different beliefs but I completly respect yours. No matter what religion, or what things you choose to practice are YOU are a beautiful giving person and that is the most important thing there is.

    Ditto!!! Same goes for me!

  8. Started cumanda today...that's specifically for lyme. Started slowly though...only two drops in a glass of water, and only this evening. Tomorrow I'll take two drops twice a day...eventually I'm supposed to work up to 6-10 drops twice a day...don't know how I'll be able to do that though since I only stay on this two weeks, then switch to another. :P

Well phooey! Still have to get allergy shots for a while. The doctor is going to reduce the amount they give me and will keep me at that level. The risk, according to her, is that I will have less allergy protection. She is afraid to let me stop them alltogether because if my allergies kicked up again I'd have to start all over again with the desensitization process. Don't think I want to do that so I'll give her suggestion a try first. I'm still quite sure that the allergies are caused by one of my myriad of toxicities. :P

    I hope I don't get worse.

Luckily my nausea has been better lately. Last year I was nauseas every stinking day.

I definitely felt worse for the first two weeks on the candida diet, but once the healing crisis was done I had more energy than you can possibly imagine. It was tough getting through that first two weeks though. I felt like I was getting the flu all the time...achy muscles, digestive issues, headaches...etc.

Nothing like that happened this time though unless the bad D I'm having now is related to that...can't figure it out, so can't say for sure.

We don't have any of those but we have Gottschalk's and they have a kitchen area too, so I could look there. Maybe Sears would have some too...

I got a really nice stainless steel pan at Sears.

I think someone else will have to give me my Spice name. Any takers?

    Professor Spice?

Someone needs to be Babesia spice....

I see Carla responded to this...I was going to say she should be since she has had the most obvious symtoms. I supposedly have it, but I don't have most of the major symptoms associated with it.

Now Bartonella Spice or Erli Spice I could be. :P

I caved in on the bars here. I had one. I had to get some carbs. No banana yet though.

How do you all get carbs on the Candida diet?

Another completely different thing is that my husband just got a letter today telling him he got accepted to the Industrial Electrician/Wireman union apprentice program!! Yaay! Means better insurance and more money, besides the fact that it is fun work and he (we) has waited for this to happen for 3 years!!

Yay, congratulations to your husband!!! How exciting.

I eat LOTS of veggies for carbs. I also get a little from some of my vitamins/supplement and I eat a little bit of low sugar fruit...but not a lot and not a lot at one time. I do cheat with a banana once in a while, but eat it with lunch or dinner.

Of course I won't mention my chip rachelling of the last month. Bad, bad thing. :(

Donna.....I think Carla's trying to suck you into the coffee enema craze.

Can you handle the peer pressure??

I dunno Donna....you're words are kinda small and meek. I think you're starting to cave.

    :P

Heck Andrea....I think me and you are about as opposite as two people can get....yet we get along perfectly.

I accept you just the way you are....I understand your beliefs and certainly your mom (being your mon and all) should be understanding as well.

Yep, I have never understood why people have to let differences affect relationships.

Did you know there is Sunflower Seed butter? I guess it tastes almost like peanut butter. I am tempted..if that company will finally answer my e-mail.

I've seen some at Trader Joe's but it had other ingredients in it....forget what now, but it was something I couldn't have.

  9. As only you all can understand this, I'm very excited: I just got off the phone with my naturopath, and he can get me in on Monday.

Now, it's a two-hour drive, but I'm amazed I could get in this soon. It's sad when I get excited over a doctor's appointment that I'm going to have to shell out $200 for! But, if he has answers, I'm all for it.

He also gave me his home #, too--I love doctor-types who are caring, and I have a good "gut" feeling on him.

I'll definitely let ya'll know what he says.

Wow, that's great!!! And, very exciting!

Can I be freddy mercury spice?

  10. Okay, yesterday I did the coffee enema for the first time ... today I was more normal for the first time. Coincidence?

LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

    I am not convinced

    -_-

So, I'm on the anti-candida diet to prevent getting candida from the abx. I'm getting off the abx for 5 days starting tomorrow. It doesn't appear that I have candida. So, does this mean it's a good time for a splurge??? :P I may have to go to Graeters and Rachel some ice cream.

No don't do it.... :P Some antibiotics stay in the system for a few days... :P

  11. Uggg, bad D is back... Could be a number of things I guess...ate some stupid stuff yesterday, am also not ruling out the possibility that this could be a release of toxins... Toxic waste to be sure.

Oh, it is tricky to be away from this thread: it grows sooo fast.

    ...

I doubt I have Lyme disease (would that give heart burn and stomach ache? I don't seem to have the symptoms that I have read it should have online...but who knows.) or Candida. I eat like no sugar, so I dunno how the candida would have grown..

    ...

Sorry about my angry thread. I am just having one of those days when things feel really hard dealing with this.

Yes, I have a lot of stomach trouble including heartburn, from the Lyme Disease. That's why I ended up searching for answers on celiac.com.

Most of the time I've had flare ups, it's been primarily GI issues along with fatigue. More recently I did develop more Lyme-like symptoms ... but for 30 years it was fatigue and GI issues during a flare.

I don't know that you have it, but don't dismiss it. You need a thorough doctor who will test you for everything.

So just because the digestive issues aren't talked about as much re: lyme, they are definitely there. Many of the patients I know (from my dr's office) have multiple food issues as well.

YES, this thread grows VERY fast at times, lol. Most of my symptoms are digestive in nature and the rest are in my head. :P

    Vent any time you like!

Anyone besides me scared of trying new foods? I hate getting sick, so I dread trying new stuff because of it.

Yes and no. Scared but try anyway sometimes. :( I'm down to about 10 safe foods that I'm eating. The BioSET treatments I'm doing have helped to identify stuff that is safe and slowly but surely I am able to eat a few more things than I was a few months ago.

People I am so depressed and stressed. Sorry I need to vent today. They don't really help much or research. They just watch me get sicker and I am tired of it. Somedays it's just to much.

It is so very hard when you don't have the support. I am so very fortunate to have supportive family and friends PLUS this thread. It's been hard enough to have to deal with all this without having their support too. I am just so sorry for you and everyone else who doesn't have that support.

I don't get financial support though...I'm in debt up to my eyeballs, but at least I'm finding answers and have people cheering me on as I get deeper into debt. :P

I feel like I am digesting glass all the time all the time. But I think maybe it is the whole flaxseed I have been drinking. NO more for me. My intestines may be to inflammed for that right now

Flaxseeds are SOOOO very hard on the digestive tract...espectially whole seeds. You might do better with ground seeds when you're ready to start them up again.

So is Garlic good against Candida too?

    YEP, absolutely!

  12. Today I had an appt at my health center. I am feeling really worn out. I have been trying to get in touch with my docotr but I missed his call and than when i called back he was gone. I canceled my abdominal massage appt. for tomorrow becasue I feel really exhausted and the idea of anyone even touching my stomach sounds more like torture than a treat. I am just feeling really down and frustrated. I think I need to just get into bed with a castor oil pack and my hot water bottle. I hate going to bed so depressed but It hink its the best thing.

Aw Mia, I'm so sorry! However, getting in bed with a hot water bottle doesn't sound half bad. I'm so sorry you had to cancel that appointment!

  13. Ok, here's the updated list with Bev added.

I need to figure out a way to make this more readable......

So these are just the IgG results right...I'm trying to make a spreadsheet too. :P

  14. Hi back at you Laura.

I had a nutrition appointment today...it was a good appointment, but Dr. Rick looked like this :( through most of it. We meet regularly to discuss ongoing symptoms and trends. After discussing my insomnia and other lingering things, he asked what Dr. S is working with me on, so I told him. It was the mold toxicity that made him go :( .

He said the exact same thing that Dr. S did and that we all have discussed here before...I will not get better if I am exposed to mold. He wasn't saying it to discourage me, but wanted to make sure I knew how hard it would be to get well while continuing to be exposed. He also doesn't want me to be taking a bunch of supplements (like most people take prescriptions) to cover up stuff, but supports supporting my immune system and such.

He DID say it WAS possible that it was a large one time exposure and that the IgG might take a while to disappear... small hope. :P

I DO think he wants me to do something SOONER rather than later though. Like immediately. :(

That leads me to ask you all, what are your thoughts on IBS? My GI thinks I have it and celiac, but then again I was diagnosed with IBS about 7 years ago, well before my celiac diagnosis, which I now think was undiagnosed celiac. Do you all put any faith in a IBS diagnosis (because I kind of don't....)?

Yep, I tend to agree with everyone...as a diagnosis and off you go...not! But my bowel is also quite irritable. :P As long as they continue to try to find out WHY it's irritable, they can label me with anything they want. :P

Morgan told me today that when she saunas this gunk comes out of the pores on her chest. If she scratches it off, it's a greyish color. It only happens if she hasn't saunaed for a while ... after a couple days it goes away.

    Any ideas?

I told her that it would be good for her to sauna every day as her body is trying to eliminate something through her skin.

Definitely sound like toxins of some sort wanting out.

  15. Did Dr. S suggest you take alpha lipoic acid? There has definately been no list of supplements that he's wanting me to take...just the whey protein and cats claw.

He's gonna be really impressed with all I'm taking now...in the past I havent been able to stay on anything...Its only been a few weeks now that I've been on the whey....( he gave it to me in October )

I bought the ALA on my own.....but then I read this...

I need to see what Dr. Amy says about it...I'll also ask Dr. S. in a few weeks.

Yes Dr. S suggested it...he was rattling off a bunch of supplements and I made him write it down. Anna has been out of it, and since I had so many other things to start I've just not worried about it. I'll need to pick some up soon. I'm still wondering about the whey. I used to use whey protein powder, but I do not think it was denatured or undenatured (whichever it's supposed to be, lol). Anyway, there were 7 things on his list...I've now started 5 of them I think, plus a couple that Anna wanted me to take after seeing his list. :P Wish I could find his original list though...

We'll see how long you last......I think you'll get sucked in ....I agree with Carla....you know you wanna try it!!

I dunnooooo  Maybe not (she says as she wonders if Walgreens carries all the stuff)

Yeah....I ate 3 quarts ice cream.

Sheesh, and I felt guilty eating a WHOLE banana today. :P:lol:

Hey everybody!! This is Murph after finding old acct name. Woohoo I used to party like member 1999!

    I heard that.

    Hi murptom!

Anyway, grandma got mad and hung up on Talitha. Talitha was in tears. :( She thinks she said something wrong. I told her that she's right in being concerned about getting sick and bringing up that she has gotten sick before wasn't necessarily wrong.

    That is so sad!!!!

Yeah, Morgan is already wanting to try it.

This wrong on so many levels.

I have no idea, but I have an idea for the name ... The Nothing Bar!

Or "Much Ado about Nothing Bar"
