Restless leg syndrome has been linked to mineral deficiencies like iron (ferretin), magnesium and calcium, and also to certain B vitamin deficiencies like B12, folate, Thiamine, and Vitamin D. The B vitamins all work together and should be supplemented all together. Taking just one of the eight B vitamins can cause the others to get out of balance and...

Covid virus/vaccine triggering celiac
knitty kitty replied to Tintern21's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Check out Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs' site.... https://www.hormonesmatter.com/tag/thiamine-deficiency-vaccine/ There's lots of research by the good doctors about vaccines, vaccination, and thiamine deficiency. Thiamine deficiency turns off thiamine transporter genes and autoimmune disease genes start turning on. Read more...- 30 replies

So tired of being scared. Please help:((
knitty kitty replied to Sabaarya's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Please reconsider taking the SSRI. Serotonin (and other neurotransmitters) are made in the gut. Tryptophan is needed to make serotonin. Taking 1000 mg of Tryptophan with meals can improve your anxiety. -
Celiac and Mental Health Issues?
knitty kitty replied to AlwaysLearning's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Russ314, No, the memory goes in Wernicke's. Earlier memory may persist, but later and current memory are affected. Concurrent vitamin deficiencies contribute to further mental illness secondary to Celiac Disease and gluten ataxia. Like @cristiana said, Vitamin B12 deficiency causes anxiety. Vitamin C, B12, Niacin, Thiamine, Vitamin D... -
Yes, I agree, losing tea for a while was hard to do. Good thing is, once you get your vitamin (thiamine) levels up, you can indulge sometimes. I like Oolong tea. It's a semifermented green tea that contains the amino acid L-Theanine which is calming and healing to your intestinal tract. L-tryptophan (another form of Niacin) is another amino acid that...

DH reaction to rice or rice flour?

@Sahamies, Would you tell us more about your gluten intolerance and pernicious anemia? -
I take Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that gets into cells easily, made by Life Extension. And their B Complex. I've tried Country Life B Complex and don't care for them. They made me ill, too. I prefer to take smaller doses throughout the day than one tablet with high doses of B vitamins. Your body can't absorb that much of those vitamins all...

@Mboehme, Since you have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease for ten years, having a Ttg reading as normal is great! You've done well to avoid gluten! During that time on the gluten free diet, you may have developed vitamin and mineral insufficiencies, or, possibly, another autoimmune disease associated with Celiac Disease. I have Celiac and Type...

Thiamine Thiamine Thiamine
knitty kitty replied to knitty kitty's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have Celiac and Type Two Diabetes. And I've had vitamin and mineral deficiencies. I was very deficient in Thiamine (Vitamin B1). Having high blood sugar made me feel dizzy and brain-foggy. Diabetics have a higher metabolic need for thiamine. Thiamine is needed to make insulin. I had Gastroparesis, where food doesn't move along the gastrointestinal... -
DH reaction to rice or rice flour?
knitty kitty replied to Maureen Haley's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
@Sahamies, Welcome to the forum! We like to get our terminology correct here, so let's explore this further. Rice DOES NOT contain GLUTEN. The protein in rice, Orzenin, resembles the gluten molecule. In some people, their antibodies identify that section of Orzenin that resembles the gluten molecule, thereby further stimulating... -
How to Succeed At Reducing Oxalate on a Gluten-free Diet
knitty kitty commented on Monique Attinger's article in Summer 2015 Issue
Sweet potatoes also contain thiaminase, a chemical that renders Vitamin B 1 Thiamine ineffective. Correcting a Thiamine insufficiency may be more important than dietary changes in treating high oxalates and kidney stones. Thiamine Thiamine Thiamine

Proteinuria can be caused by dehydration and diabetes. Bilirubin is an indication of inflammation. Type Two Diabetes is frequently found in Celiac Disease. There is a connection between Diabetes and Thiamine deficiency. The pancreas produces insulin and needs lots of thiamine to do so. Thiamine is usually reabsorbed in the kidneys,... -

You need All Eight B vitamins!!! The B vitamins all work together. Thiamine insufficiency will cause weight loss. Try a B Complex vitamin and extra thiamine (benfotiamine) to correct your weight loss. When deficient in thiamine, the body switches from burning carbohydrates consumed in the diet to burning fat. You are burning off...

Celiac and Mental Health Issues?

Here's some material to help answer your questions. I grew up in a household where both parents were in denial about Celiac and ensuing mental health problems, so I understand how you feel. I don't know if you understand what I was trying to say. MCV is Mean Corpuscular Volume. It's a measure of red blood cell size. In anemia, the MCV increases. The cells become large and are called macrocytic because of a deficiency in B12. If one is supplementing with folate while one has a deficiency in B12, the change in red blood... -

@Natalie youds, "Blister rash hands and feet" Could you describe your rash a little more? Have you compared your rash to pictures of DH? Is the rash on the top of your hands and feet or on your plans and soles of your feet? Does the rash get worse when exposed to the sun? -
Terrible Neurological Symptoms
knitty kitty replied to HectorConvector's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Get some magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate to go with your extra thiamine and B Complex. Magnesium helps relax muscles, so those nerve twitches should go away. And magnesium works with thiamine. Athletic people need more thiamine. Like @Blue_Sky said, Theanine in green, oolong and black tea can help relax nerves. I like oolong tea when I... -

@HectorConvector, Have you heard of the Low Histamine Diet? https://theceliacmd.com/the-low-histamine-diet-what-is-it-and-does-it-work/ I went on the Autoimmune Paleo diet and removed high histamine foods. I have had bad neuropathy when my thiamine and niacin were low. Vitamin C deficiency can cause neuropathy, too. Have you thought about supplementing with a B Complex? Hard to believe hashimoto-diagnosis :(
knitty kitty replied to chocoholic's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@chocoholic, Have you had any investigation into pernicious anemia? Folic acid supplementation prevents one sign of B12 deficiency, extremely large red blood cells (megaloblasts). Pernicious anemia occurs when the intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12 is not being produced by parietal cells in the stomach because they are being attacked by... -
