  1. Two only children. Having an only child was fantastic. Not for everyone I suppose. My daughter is happy about it and so am I.
  2. I did not initially look into this, it just turned out that how I was eating was called Primal. The only difference between the two is that IF you are able to consume dairy products, primal is fine with it and some chocolate and/or wine here and there. They both eschew grains. The only grain I CAN eat seemingly safely (without getting very sick) seems to...
  3. My daughter was 6 weeks early. Only reason I was in the hospital the night she was born is because she did not pass a non stress test. That was almost 18 years ago. We are about to try for another baby here very shortly. I am worried about my age and being able to gain weight properly.. I really hope I do not hatch another too early one. There was no definitive...
  4. It is snowing in Texas but here in northern Washington, the cherry trees have blossomed and the daffodils have bloomed. I am kind of bummed at my first winter here. I WANTED SNOW! Trade you! No wait... I can't live in Texas again..sorry hahaha. I do not feel like cooking tonight. Leftover defrosted pork chops with oranges and parsley... mashed potatoes...
  5. You ladies really cheered me up. Thank you. My craigslist friend suddenly called and said let's go to the zoo yesterday.. so right after a surprise interview..we did. Another interested party called today and wants to interview me next Thursday. I think maybe just getting glutened suddenly made me extra sad and emotional? I do not know. I have never really...
  6. Paleo and primal are grain AND dairy free (primal only if you cannot eat dairy like 80% of the human population without the mutant gene for it.,)
  7. I think you should probably have all of your vitamin levels checked and compared to last years (if you had them but check them anyway), and check your blood in case you are accidentally contaminating yourself and do not even know it. The same blood panel as the first time. Thats just my opinion, and I am not a doctor, but I would want to check those things...
  8. Ah I am so sorry. I, too, have the evil NO CORN OR ELSE tummy. Corn is in EVERYTHING.... I cook from scratch pretty much 100%. I do not make my own cheese (the actual kind, not the sauce/whiz) or sour cream/butters, other than that? I also cannot do any grains... except white rice. You may want to have a go at paleo or primal as a good way to avoid corn...
  9. Awesome! You can sub the corn starch for tapioca starch. I do it all of the time to everything There you go Bartfull!
  10. I read the entirety of this as UW is just down the road. While it sounds like they are making great strides, I would rather just not EAT gluten than have to take a pill for it. I can see how it could be a safety help for kids though.
  11. From the US National Library of Medicine : Open Original Shared Link
  12. Oh my goodness!!! I am so sorry it went so badly for you. It does say if you feel that way to call right away etc. I am glad you knew what to do. Buproprion HCL (Wellbutrin) is in a class by itself on the depression drug chart. It works ina very different way from the other options. There is a lot of great literature on it if you want to look it...
  13. Youre very welcome. Yes the trouble sleeping will, indeed, pass. Unless you start taking that second dose too late in the afternoon. So just be very mindful of it. You will start feeling like you want to work hard and get things done with a great gusto of energy too. I use that to help me sleep at night. The libido thing though.. jeeezzzzz.. be careful...
  14. I just looked. I take 3 100mg tablets every day.. sometimes I do not take the last one because I forget until it is too late at night, but it does not seem to be a very big deal and my mood is up and I remain steady.
  15. The best thing you can do is see a doctor and get a diagnosis. You should mention your mom has IBS, that is what a lot of people get told when they cannot figure out what is wrong. Alas, you need to be eating gluten to have the tests done. If you do not, you will never get a positive or negative result you can rely upon. I wish wish wish wish I had a formal...
  16. I do not know about France and Spain but I know Italy is a million times more aware of and caters to people with Celiac than the USA. Yes, the nation of pasta!~ It may be worth it to do a little research. Those hosts families may be completely open and see it as normal to have some things gluten-free.
  17. Yeah, I am having both done. She also has severe exercise induced asthma, eczema, keratosis pilaris, and the sleep stuff is more of a CFS thing, tummy aches and terrible gas issues. All of these things I had at her age too... which got progressively worse...and worse... So we are checking EVERYTHING. Phew. I feel bad she is so miserable though.
  18. ok I tried those Cinnamon rolls this morning! FANTASTIC! Thank you LauraTX! I also soaked those beans and have it all in the crock pot for some "from scratch" baked beans. OOOoooo I can't wait! The man has requested Chili Bacon Burgers and avocado boats to go with. The teen will no doubt complain. I have to find something to gluten her with too...
  19. I would certainly ask him to do so. I believe kareng has the list of the runs that should be run. Also, you have to be eating gluten right up until the blood test.
  20. I can only say I take Wellbutrin for depression as well. Over a year now. Its really great. I cannot comment on the dairy thing as I am a mutant and can digest it with ease. The Wellbutrin will take about 2-3 WHOLE weeks before you really really begin to start feeling great. The first couple of weeks it makes you extra hyper and it may be hard to sleep....
  21. My boyfriend is really good about remembering to not kiss if he had gluten. I am so thank he pays good attention. I am glad your guy does too! I have used meetup while in Hawaii, but I do not have the energy to be the one running the group. I took a look and did not see anything so far, but I should perhaps look more closely. I really am an introvert...
  22. King Arthur for most things and Betty Crocker gluten-free for cookies and cakes. I have admittedly turned to Against the Grain for loaves of bread and pizza crusts. YUM!
  23. Yep, I try and keep the recipes I make on my blog so that anyone can do it. Tonight I will make Pork Chops with Oranges and Parsley, No Sugar added Applesauce, Green Beans and Butter, and mashed potatoes. I also have to get the carrot cake all mixed up later for breakfasting..and put the beans in to soak for some crock pot baked beans tomorrow night...
  24. I am just going to whine whine whine... There are not enough sad faces to print here! On Saturday, I went to a birthday party. It was my Boyfriends classmates son's 3rd bDay party. Anyway, we got there a little early and the mom was not yet ready and kind of losing it. She had never decorated a cake before and did not really know how to do it.. So...
  25. SCD worked for me. I was still so sick even after I erased gluten from my life. I was doing mostly whole foods too! I was still having pain and vomiting and it turns out that Besides gluten, I cannot tolerate corn.. nor ANY grains with the except of white rice (brown and black do not feel good either!). I have since then began eating int the "primal" style...
