ARCHIVED Carnation Instant Breakfast
tiffjake replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
From their website: 7.Do NESTLÉ CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST products contain gluten? The flavorings used in NESTLÉ CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST Ready-To-Drink contain barley extracts, which contribute less than 1 part per million of barley gluten in the final product. We have recently added a statement to the label indicating the existence of barley i... -
ARCHIVED Can You Get Accurate Blood Tests 3 Weeks Off Of Gluten?
tiffjake replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know that for ME, mine were really "off" after 4 weeks gluten-free. Doc was suprised, but hey, guess my body was sick and tired of it! -
ARCHIVED Looking For Some Direction On Advocacy
tiffjake replied to Robina's topic in Publications & Publicity
There are also events that you could promote or do one of your own. Our local support group is putting together a 5k for Celiac Awareness (www.gotguts5k.com). You could do something like that! I am really excited about this one! -
ARCHIVED Instant Breakfast
tiffjake replied to gointribal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The Rich Milk Chocolate is gluten-free. Infact, there is ONLY ONE that is not, according to their website. (The MALT Chocolate). I have the Rich Milk Chocolate all the time. Walmart's version is also gluten-free. (I am also talking about the powder) From their website: 7.Do NESTL -
ARCHIVED Lindt Chocolate
tiffjake replied to georgie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had a lindt truffle (or, rather, started to have one) and then read the label on the plastic baggie, and it said wheat starch....I can't remember the flavor, but I remember thinking "Ok, no lindt for me". So.....just wanted to let you know, incase it WAS in your Chocolate..... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stuffing Or Dressing
tiffjake replied to tiffjake's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Did you toast the gluten-free bread? I did last year, and that made it "stonger" for the baking part. When it is hard like a crouton, then I let it cool, and later added the chicken broth and put it in the oven for 20 min or so (like CarrieFaiths Recipe) and it came out great. It was just like stove top. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stuffing Or Dressing
tiffjake replied to tiffjake's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yeah, I am fine with white potatoes, but sweet potatoes make me feel bloated and give me really bad headaches. It was weird, cause it happened one night, and I thought "no way" so I tried another one a coupld of nights later, and got the same reaction. I miss them too! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Nuts
tiffjake replied to BabySnooks's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I get planters. They have those snack sleeves that fit in my purse. Even the Honey Roasted are gluten-free, their ingredient list says corn starch. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stuffing Or Dressing
tiffjake replied to tiffjake's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks CarrieFaith! (And I noticed in your siggy that you are sweet potato and strawberry free, me too! Those two came up on my Lame Advertisement test and I avoided them like they suggested, and now when I have them I get terrible headaches.....weird.) -
ARCHIVED Prescription Iron?
tiffjake replied to munchkinette's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hm, I know there is one, and it is an "easy Iron" that is meant to be easier on the stomach, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is called, but it is pretty much like the OTC stuff, maybe just a little better on your stomach (or stronger doses if you need it REALLY badly). -
ARCHIVED Reese's Cups Or M&m's
tiffjake replied to brizzo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ditto. -
The gluten-free menu at Ouback is not going anywhere. And the Bleau Cheese Dressing is not gluten-free. There are two dressing that are not gluten-free at Outback, the Mustard Vin and the Bleau Cheese. It says it on the gluten-free menu, but perhaps you missed it (it IS in smaller print, off to the side). Just FYI.

What a nice note! Thanks man!

ARCHIVED I'm A Celiac For Attention
tiffjake replied to IntensePort's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Its so funny that this thread was pinned today, b/c I recently found out that a (now ex-) friend has been talking about me behind my back and saying that I "diagnosed myself" and "googeled" everything and "made it all up with no proof" and I just can't believe it! Yes, after my Lame Advertisement, EnteroLab, Celiac Panel, googeling, and arguing with my... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stuffing Or Dressing
tiffjake replied to tiffjake's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks all! I think Carrie Faith's was the one I made last year. I served it to family and they didn't know it was gluten-free (I made it for myself at my grandfathers, and everyone wanted to know if it was really that good) so I was looking for something that was more traditional (meaning, like stove top, LOL) and I think I modified Carriefaith's to make... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stuffing Or Dressing
tiffjake posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I got a great recipe from someone last year and I can't remember for the life of me who I got it from! And I can't find it! Can someone throw out some ideas? I would really appreciate it! Thanks, Tiffany -
I just watched it for free from www.abc.com

ARCHIVED Lame Advertisement Tests?
tiffjake replied to Shalia's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey, I got an Lame Advertisement test in sept of 2005 because I was having REALLY bad GERD and no doc could tell me why, just put me on three different meds. The Lame Advertisement test was the first thing that showed me gluten, and I then found this board, then EnteroLab, then my doc's celiac panel, and the rest is history. I have see someone spam this board... -
ARCHIVED Contamination = Weird Vision?
tiffjake replied to num1habsfan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I get blury vision too, and I think it has to do with blood pressure. When I get bad D my blood pressure bottoms out, and then I get up to fast or something, and my vision with go wacky for a minute. The last time (over a year ago) that I had pasta (a month into a gluten-free trial) my intestines shut down, and I passed out. The ER Doc said my intestines... -
Yes, there is Bacterial Vaginosis, a bacterial infection. It is actually "common"-meaning not something doctors don't see every day. Sensitive people can delevope them from changing their fabric softener, underwear (cotton to lycra blend), or swimming. Anything that can effect the pH balance "down there" can cause one bacteria (that is ok to have) to overgrow...

Thanks Richard and Broncobux! I had no idea that anchovies were the "it" in Ceaser. Yuck! I would have never eaten it in the first place! But I also didn't know that it was the ceaser that was making me sick until I kept going back and ordering the same salad with Ranch instead of Ceaser. In my opinion, it pays to work through these things, instead of just...

ARCHIVED Vitamins
tiffjake replied to Anteau25's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome! Well, I know you said you have been here for a while, but welcome from me! I take GNC's Prenatals. And their sublingual B12. Both are gluten-free, and work for me! -
I know, for me, that my secondary intolerances (second to celiac disease) are not nearly as severe as gluten. So, sweet potoato, for example, will give me a bloated feeling, and a headache, but I might put up with that to enjoy one. But gluten? No way! It is not worth it. I rarely have those "other" things, mostly because they are things that are easy for...

You know, there are different kinds of malt, including rice malt. Just as there are different types of gluten, like corn gluten, or rice gluten. Depending on where you live you might want to call your local L&P office and ask them what kind of Malt is in their sauce. My L&P does not say Malt in the ingredient list. I noticed that someone mentioned...
