I thought it was just me. I've always been a blusher. I think it might be a little bit better since going fanatically gluten-free, but I still definitely blush. Cheeks, ears and neck.

ARCHIVED Enterolab?
lonewolf replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Try looking at their website: www.enterolab.com Enterolab is an independent laboratory started by Dr. Kenneth Fine. He believes that he has discovered a way to test for gluten sensitivity rather than just Celiac Disease. His lab also tests for other food sensitivities. They do stool tests instead of blood tests. His methods are somewhat controversial... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice About Going Back To Work As A Teacher...
lonewolf replied to Walter S's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What does your doctor have to say about this? Are you improving enough to see that you're heading in the right direction? I'm a teacher too and I don't see how you could do it. When I was pregnant the first time I missed a lot of work because of morning sickness. Even when I was there I would have to leave my classes to run to the bathroom to throw... -
ARCHIVED Soy Flour, Garbanzo & Fava Flour
lonewolf replied to RiceGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This reminds me that several years ago my sister gave me a bag of Bob's biscuit mix. It smelled horrible dry, while being mixed, while being baked and was un-eatable. We tried giving one to the dog and he actually threw it up! I didn't try anything from Bob's or anything with bean flour in it for several years. I think now it was rancid. Hopefully, you... -

What? Blake's family has been there a lot. Especially early on. His dad looks just like him - just heavier and without earrings. They were just on local TV last night (I grew up in Blake's home town) thanking people for all their support. It's a special "Blake Lewis Day" in Bothell today. -

Hello everyone! Cathy - Glad you're having a good time with your mum. I know what you mean about emotionally being okay with not eating at a gathering. I've been there for quite some time now. Good to see that you're getting back on track with eating. I'm sure that kilo will come off soon. I've gained about 2 kilos in the past few days - I'm hoping... -
ARCHIVED Non-celiac Gluten Sensitivity/intolerance
lonewolf replied to Chrisser's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I actually met Dr. Fine on Saturday and asked him about this. He said that if you don't have the Celiac genes you pretty much can't get the total villous atrophy that truly defines Celiac. (There are always exceptions.) BUT, he said that it didn't matter - because if you are gluten sensitive you are doing damage to your body and you might be damaging a... -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Chip Cookies....
lonewolf replied to kbabe1968's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Have you tried adding a bit more flour? Like about 1/4 cup? I add about 1/3 Cup almond butter to mine and love the texture it gives them. What type of fat are you using? Butter or shortening (I use Spectrum) work the best for me. Finally, what gluten-free flour mix are you using? I've used Bob's Red Mill (worked great, but the dough tasted yucky... -
I just saw this - said a prayer for Sande right away. Hope you get better quickly and they figure out how to help you. I hope you get to make it to Disney.

Hi everyone! Where are you all hiding? We had a great Easter here. Definitely a "free day" for me. I ate whatever I wanted and enjoyed every bite. I made a big gluten-free/dairy-free dinner for my family and 7 guests, so everyone could eat everything. Today I was planning to get back on track, but my SIL made gluten-free sugar cookies and I succumbed... -
Good for your daughter! My 15 yo discovered the same thing and is very dedicated to the diet now. So much better to avoid problems than to try to fix them when you're older.

ARCHIVED Successful gluten-free Baking
lonewolf replied to mlkramer2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yay for you and your wife to jump right in! I've discovered that it's easier to use "regular" recipes and just substitute gluten-free flour than to try some of the crazy recipes. Chocolate chip cookies are one of our favorites and we've had good success too. My youngest son is adopted from Russia and we make Pelmini - which is like Pierogi - and it turns... -

It's going to be Latin type music. I read it somewhere. People were speculating on how well Melinda and Lakisha would do with something so far from their "normal" type of music. -

I only got to go to half of it, but was really happy to get to see Dr. Fine in person. After hearing him speak and seeing his presentation, which included research done by many others, I believe he is on the "up and up". I was a bit skeptical after reading everything here. A friend went with me and was very interested. She is a dental hygienist and actually...

We're having the sausage roll that Nikki UK posted for Christmas. Rich and delicious! That will tide us over until our big dinner in the mid-afternoon. -
ARCHIVED Ever Been Glutened By Someone Who Was Trying To Prove You Would Not Be?
lonewolf replied to angel42's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My brother in law went out of his way to tell me that he had made some special meat patties for me without breadcrumbs. I was pretty sick within an hour and had the big D for 3 days and had to miss a day of work. I found out later that he did put breadcrumbs in them, but thought it was all in my head. He's a pharmaceutical buyer for a large HMO and doesn... -

ARCHIVED Treadmill Vs Elliptical Machines
lonewolf replied to VydorScope's topic in Sports and Fitness
I work out on an elliptical machine 5 times a week and love it. It's smooth and easier on the knees than a treadmill. I take my heart rate regularly, to make sure I'm not pushing myself too much. I probably spend 1/3 of the time NOT using the moving handle thingys (not sure what they're called). I love to see the calories going up fast. At my weight... -

Fajitas - good to see you here again. I'm home with a sick child again. Last week my older son was home all week and I stayed with him as much as I could while coaching. Then Monday morning my 13 yo daughter woke up sick and I stayed home with her Mon. and Tues. Wednesday we all went to school (I teach at the same school my younger 3 go to). Last... -

My kids didn't even want to watch last night. They looked online to find out who got cut before it even came on here. Gina wasn't my favorite, but she's WAY better than Haley, Phil, Sanjaya or Chris. My kids don't even bother to vote anymore because they think it's rigged too. -

Welcome pemmy! We're happy to have you join us. Lots of us are struggling with weight issues. For me, I lost weight when I first found out I couldn't eat wheat, dairy, eggs, soy and a few other things. Then I learned how to cook and bake with all the stuff that was left and gained all that weight back. My suggestion for you would be to up the protein... -

How fun to hear about Sundance! How exciting that he's signing a recording contract! And how funny that C D automatically turns to celiac disease. We all know what you mean. Thanks for the update.
