    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Wow Rachel, I'm so jealous that you've found this doc! You've hit the jackpot with this dr. You are very lucky. Your story seems similar to mine. I still have sensitivities to certain foods, even foods that never really bothered me before going gluten-free. What he said made so much sense. Keep us posted on your treatment regarding tests he does for...
  2. Hi Gina, I'm glad you got the courage to join! This a great place to share experiences...good and bad.To get advice or discuss whatever. Have you tried the Kinnikinnick brand of cookies? I love the double chocolate almond. Even friends and family pig out on them. YUMMY There's alot of great gluten-free alternatives for treats. You'll eventually find more...
  3. Hi Kelly, No, I haven't but please post after you get them and try them. That's one thing I truly miss....graham crackers. I haven't found a tasty substitute. Charlene
  4. My mom has been pretty understanding. The only thing she has a hard time getting is, how gluten is in other things other than the obvious! (bread, pasta, etc.) I'm constantly telling her, and my brother how gluten is used in many products. They always are amazed when I tell them, " there's gluten in that soy sauce, " or whatever. Sigh.....eventually they...
  5. Are you kidding??? How insensitive, immature and rude! I just can't believe the mentality of some people. You'd think coworkers would be a little more sensitive. Would they treat someone with diabetes, or a severe allergy to peanuts that way? They were acting very ignorant! Don't let it get to you! We all have to deal with insensitive jerks at one...
  6. I'm always leary of fruit, and veggies that are out in the open. Not just for cross contamination, but for the fact they could have other bacteria on them. You never know how hygenic the person cutting and handling the fruit or veggies were! Sorry, you had an attack. It could have been cross contamination or something else completely. Hope you feel...
  7. I'm female, age 35 and my son is 16. We are both gluten intolerant. Diagnosed at the same time, 10 months ago!!

    ARCHIVED I Did It!

Beverly, Congrats!!! Even though I'm fairly new to this forum, I've learned how supportive and caring everyone is here!! You've been through a lot, and accomplished so much!! You must be proud!! Charlene
  9. Hello Laura and welcome to this great forum! First, everyone heals at different rates, but it sounds like you're on the right track! For myself, my toilet troubles stopped within days of going gluten free. But, I did notice other foods would cause tummy problems. I became sensitive to cheese and yogurt,(the only dairy I ate) corn, and a few others....
  10. 1.vanilla soy ice cream 2. lundbergs barbecue rice chips 3.organic red kidney beans 4.cashews 5.all veggies
  11. Whenever I see twinkies or little debbies at the store...I want them so bad, but I never ate them before! Wierd! It's the old...we want what we can't have, hitting us hard! Charlene
  12. Thanks for the info! It answers a lot of questions about soy. I think I'll stay away from soy for a while, and see what happens when I re- introduce it! Charlene
  13. Hi Rae, I tested negative to intestinal damage as well, but tested positive for gluten intolerance. Since going gluten free a lot of my health issues have disappeared. So, it's obvious my body does not tolerate gluten. I have become sensitive to other foods, but I believe I can reintroduce these foods with time, and healing! I don't want to risk causing...
  14. Jen-great advice! You gave me a boost as well!! Thanks! Charlene
  15. Hi Celiacruz, I know how you feel, I'm experiencing the exact same thing. I noticed you mentioned thai kitchen soup bowl. I ate that for lunch as well. I immediately reacted to it. Itchy rash... bad diarrhea. I don't get it either. I think I'm probably sensitive to an ingredient in it, and will no longer eat it.(for awhile anyways) It's very frusterating...
  16. Cute!! Made me smile!
  17. Oh great!! Now I have even less food options!! lol I have the same reaction from corn, that I have from gluten. I break out in a itchy rash, my ears go red and I have to get to a washroom, quick!! I probably do have an allergy to corn. One more added to the list of many! Jeez!!! Thanks for the input. Charlene
  18. H Jessica, If I were you, I wouldn't eat anything that morning. I personally have not had a endoscope done, but from what I've read, you can be given something to relax you. I know people who've had it done. and they tell me, it's the anticipation of the unknown that's the worst. The procedure itself isn't s bad! Try to relax, and before you know...
  19. I've noticed that I can no longer tolerate corn. Anyone else notice this? Today I had a reaction to corn flour in a product(only thing it could be) and if I eat fresh corn, I get quite sick from it, as well. Let me know what you think! Charlene
  20. I hear you, Chad. Today I'm having a bad day! I ate no gluten or dairy, and I'm still having diarrhea. I went over the ingredients of what I ate, and wonder what crap my body reacted to this time. I feel like selling everything, buying some land, and growing my own foods. It's just disgusting what's in our food now a days. I do feel like we need to be...
  21. Yeah!!! It's so wierd wierd how we get excited about poop! Keep on with the diet, it seems to be the answer!! Charlene
  22. Since going gluten free, I've become a more creative/adventurous cook! Breakfast: 2 slices Glutino Flax seed bread with almond butter Lunch: leftover veggie stirfry from last night Dinner: romaine lettuce, kale, spinach sauteed in olive oil, salt/pepper with thai noodles Snack: tea and 2 Kinnikinnick double chocolate almond cookies...YUMMY!!!...
  23. Hello, I use my slow cooker alot, making veggie stews and chili. We also eat Thai rice noodle stirfries, yum!! We eat potatoes, rice and sweet potatoes. I like to fry them all together, my kids love it! We eat alot of meals with kidney beans(edta free, of course) On occasion, I do eat wild salmon, as my hubby is not a vegetarian and he cooks up seafood...
  24. Hi Bambam, I do believe mood swings. brain fog , and deression are a symptom of celiac/gluten intolerance. I know my son and I are not as moody, and b%$@#y with everyonce since going gluten-free. I've read alot on the subject, and there are even links to serious mental health issues. Read "Dangerous grains," it has a lot of info on the subject. Charlene
  25. Hello pink...I'll give the recipe a try. Have to get some canned peaches or pears, though. Are you a vegetarian, as well? I find it very challenging to make gluten-free, veg. meals. I feel like we eat the same meals over and over!! Welcome to the forum! Charlene
