  1. We went recently but didn't do Disney. There are several chains (PF Changs, Caraba's, Outback) you can search on. We did do Sea Word - and it ws *awesome*, they were totally accomodating and even cooked my meal in seperate area!! (And the Shamu show was great too!)
  2. It's human nature to persuade yourself to "wait and see"... otherwise they wouldn't come up with all those cliches like "it's always darkest before te dawn". I don't know anything about Zoloft so I can't answer that one for you. But I wanted to remind you that everyone is different and we all have different reactions to things. Look at all of our food...
  3. I am definitely an introvert; I need to have some alone time to recharge my batteries. But I have noticed that since I've been feeling so much better lately, I am being much more social and very much enjoying myself. That being said I just told my friend I was NOT doing anything this weekend as I've been social almost every day the past two weeks or...
  4. My daughter will be 9 next month. While I'm the one who's gluten-free, she's still a 9 year old - they sound similar We often go through food favorites and then wham the next day she sticks her nose up at it. I buy foods I know she'll like (applesauce, fruits for eating and smoothies, etc.). While I've noticed she'll whine if we're out of something...
  5. You could actually go to Celiac Specialites bakery... I've never been but I hear it's the proverbial "kid in a gluten-free candy store" I have also ate at Giulios, it was very very good - almost any item on their menu can be made gluten-free and they have breadsticks www.giulios.us
  6. I have learned so much from this great group of people!! I would have been so lost without this site. THANK YOU SCOTT!
  7. My dr. suggested food intolerences after I went in to complain about chronic D and how I always felt so "off". No energy, achey... always feeling like I was coming down with the flu. I went gluten-free and dairy free in August and felt amazing... until the holidays. I had a bunch of stresses (big project at work, daughter was ill, the holidays, etc.) and...
  8. I've been drinking the pre-made Cuervo margaritas this summer - yum But when I saw this I was a bit worried, so I went to the their website and hooray... Q: Which Jose Cuervo products are gluten-free? A: All Jose Cuervo tequilas, Authentic Cuervo Margaritas, Margarita Minis, and Golden Margaritas are gluten-free.
  9. I've had them and they are GREAT! I can't keep my daughter away from them, and I'm the one who's gluten-free!!
  10. I did that once with Superman ice cream in my aun'ts car!!
  11. I would make sure you're taking a high-grade (live) acidilopholus (sp!!) and as often as you can. Be kind to your GI tract with well-tolerated, gentle, foods. Bananas, rice, etc. Rest, relax - enjoy the long weekend!
  12. I met a woman once who had a wheat allergy/intolerence. She could have other gluten things, but not wheat products.
  13. I just got a bag with my last Knicknkick (sp) order. And I also did find the Crispy Rice at Whole Foods that I made "sushi" with (rolled up around gummy worms and wrapped in green Fruit Roll-ups)... it was too fun!
  14. Whenever I take a band-aid off you can see the exact layout on my arm for a day or so. I'm always asked if I have a latex allergy (which it's not) but the adhesive clearly bothers me.
  15. You may want to pick up a couple cans of Progresso Chicken and Wild Rice soup. It's gluten-free, and if there is ever a time she just wants something light it's a great thing to have on hand.
  16. Ha! Understatement!! No, no barly, no malt or malt flavoring, but ketchup and vinegar should be fine. I use Kitchen Basics broth, La-Choy or San-J wheat free soy sauce. Watch out for other marinades containing soy sauce - it's probably got the wheat kind.
  17. Hello and welcome! This group is the best, glad you found us!! That's so nice that you are taking care of your family... it really makes a huge difference. Ask any questions you want! I'd suggest to carefully research cross-contamination, and keep your meals simple. Look for local stores that carry gluten-free projects (breads, etc.) or see if she...
  18. I make a chicken and wild rice salad that's a hearty meal but great on a hot day.
  19. I'm also not a teen - in fact, I'm in my late 30's but I am back in the dating world now. I was hesitant how to bring this up, I wasn't hiding it but didn't want to make a big deal out of it. It came up naturally in a conversation and surprise - he has a nut allergy What a fun couple we'd make if this is a "match"?!?
  20. I also get D when stressed and if I know I have something stressful coming up, I try to plan my diet accordingly. I won't eat "questionable" foods (foods that somestimes seem to give me problems) and will eat rice, bananas, etc. beforehand to help keep my G I tract stable. I think sometimes just telling myself I'm in control of it seems to help.
  21. Cocoa butter is what happens after they grind the cocoa beans, it is not dairy!!
  22. I've lost 54 pounds in the past year! While some of that is that I'm gluten-free/DF, I've also learned about eating healthier... no more processed foods or ice cream, fast food, etc. I eat lots of protein now, potatoes/rice and veggies. There are a lot of good gluten-free products on the market, you can still gain weight by indulging in those donuts...
  23. I like banana and strawberry. I've also done banana, honey and vanilla - it was pretty tasty! I just put the fruit in with some ice and a little liquid, I use almond milk but you could do any milk-type or just juice. My daughter (who obviously was a mad scientist in a previous lifetime) concocts almost anything, last night it was watermelon and kiwi...
