  1. What about doing a party themed like a Hollywood after party? Fancy drinks with flashing ice cubes. Do neon wigs and cool sunglasses for the party favors. Have loud music and karaoke. You can serve faux sushi made with fruit leathers and marshmallows, popcorn (colored popcorn would be great), glutino pretzels, a cake iced like a directors board, an ice cream...
  2. Outback makes butter balls to season their veggies. These butter balls include spices that contain gluten. Perhaps your Outback was using those to saute the mushrooms?
  3. Be forewarned that if you go completely gluten free and then later on decide to get an official diagnosis you will have to do a gluten challenge. This means that you'll have to eat a fair amount of gluten daily for months (I think the recommended length of time is four months, but I'm not sure on this). Can you imagine how sick that could make you? My advice...
  4. http://www.barthsburgery.com/ycdtotv/worst89/Pdvd_5507.webp It should work now. The reason it didn't work before is because there was a colon after the link, but part of the link.
  5. Your health is more important than their level of comfort. So long as you don't offer them a host of substitution foods, they likely won't even notice that they're eating gluten free. Keep snacks around like Utz potato chips, Bakery on Main granola, etc... You will likely even be able to serve them Tinkyada pasta and not have them notice that it's different...
  6. Elye, I used to watch that show as a kid. I didn't quite understand what was going on, but I watched it semi-regularly. I think I was a little young to get it. I vaguely remember the one boy sitting or standing next to a bunch of cubes or boxes or shapes of some sort. That's about all I remember. And maybe something about a spider or slime or something??...
  7. We don't have any skin contact reactions, but I don't allow any gluten into the house. I get sick really easily and having doll food around w/ gluten in it would definitely get me sick. The baby isn't big at all. She's supposedly right on track to be a 7.5 lb. baby. My other daughter was 6 lbs. 7 oz. and she measured right on too. She was two weeks late...
  8. August 31st. I look like a blimp though, so maybe I'll go a little sooner. Throughout the pregnancy there has been question as to whether or not I'm further along than originally thought, but the ultrsounds and measurements all show me to be right on time with 8/31. Who knows. The baby dropped quite a bit the other day, so maybe I'm only a few weeks off...
  9. They werent' around for a while. They just brought them back i think a few years ago. I want to get Tori her own baby when we have the baby. We're going to throw a big sister party for her and the (real) baby is going to give Tori two gifts... One will be her very own baby (so maybe i can get away with changing the real baby without her hovering over me)...
  10. I want to get my daughter a Baby Alive doll. Does anyone know if the doll's food and drink mix is gluten free? Hasbro is horrible about answering e-mails and I'm never available to call them during their business hours.
  11. I get achy joints when I'm glutened sometimes, depending on the severity. I also get extremely fatigued. It's very possible it's due to gluten, especially if you're having other symptoms.
  12. Here you can order it one box at a time for $3.29 a box. They also have lots of other yummy treats. Open Original Shared Link
  13. DH picked up two cans of Eden Organic rice & beans at the grocery store the other day. Does anyone know if they're gluten free? I can't find anything on their website. One is Cajun Small Red Beans Rice and Beans w/ Lundberg Brown Rice. The other is Caribbean Black Beans Rice and Beans with Lundberg Brown Rice. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Yoplait Key Lime yogurt - ? Rice Krispies - NO, but Kinnikinnick makes gluten free rice krispies and they taste like the real thing Corn chips - Fritos original flavor Soft tortilla shells - Mission 100% corn tortillas Chicken nuggets - Wellshire Kids And what are the best store bought cookies? - Kinnikinnick K-Too's, just like Oreos but gluten free...
  15. This probably isn't an issue, but I thought I should mention it just in case. I know some sanitary napkins are NOT gluten free. Could this be true of disposable breast pads too since they also have to be extremely absorbent? Could this be a hidden source of gluten? I know I'm really reaching out on a limb here, but it seems like it could be possible. Also...
  16. Don't forget that with any sweet item, pureed strawberries would make it pink.
  17. You won't have any problems finding gluten free food at the counter service places in WDW. You'll be able to get a hamburger (on a bun) and fries at some of the places. If you can't find a counter service place to eat lunch, the turkey legs in the parks are gluten free and filling. We never had a problem finding quick lunches though. You may want to center...
  18. Kinnikinnick.com has all of the individual flours for purchase. Shipping is a flat rate of $10 no matter how much you buy. Their bagels, cinnamon rolls, cookies, donuts, and bread are all fabulous too. I always place a huge order when I order flour. All of the pre-baked goods need to be frozen when you recieve them.
  19. ditto on Kinnikinnick's K-too's. They are AWESOME!!! We all think they taste just like Oreos. They even react the same way in milk as an Oreo. I've tried a couple other brands of Oreo knock offs and none were right.
  20. I have gone to the Dixie Stampede twice now successfully. They don't have any gluten free substitutions, there are only three things though that you can't have. You still get a full, satisfying meal. Make sure they list gluten free on your reservation though or it will be a big to-do. I don't know why, but it is.
  21. Just a suggestion on making the "cake". You may want to use smaller pans, like muffin top pans and make a bunch of mini cakes. It will be much more work, but most gluten free recipes turn out better in smaller portions. I have to admit though that I've never attempted a whole cake gluten free. Anyway, you could ice them in the middle, just like a regular...
  22. Open Original Shared Link This is the best gluten free cake I've had to date. There are some pretty good mixes out there, but nothing beats the satisfaction of making your own.
  23. YOU GUYS HAVE TO TRY THIS!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!! 1-1/2 cups Nature's Path honey'd corn flakes (or similar cereal) 1/3 to 1/2 cups quinoa flakes 2 tablespoons milled flax seed 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar 3 tablespoons salted sunflower seeds 3 tablespoons chopped pecans 1/4 cup craisins 3 tablespoons raisins 1/4 cup pine nuts 1/2 teaspoon...
  24. I have a batch of homemade "granola" in the oven right now. Has anyone had any success making granola themselves? I have half an hour left on the timer and it's not starting to toast yet. I'm getting a little nervous.
  25. Sorry, Lame Advertising should have read as A R B O N N E. Mucousy stools can indicate Celiac as well as a horde of other things. I think it's even possible for that to be normal, but I'm not sure. Since Celiac runs through your family (proven by your little girl's positive bloodwork) I would definitely have him tested since that could be a symptom. ...
