  1. Eh...I'd say...be a little bit careful. Like, if the guy has a mouthful of bread (or just ate something extremely gluteny), maybe, possibly consider refraining . I wouldn't worry about to the point where you entirely give up spontaneous kissing though
  2. It's only at the Clairmont location so far. Hopefully they'll have gluten-free pizza at more locations soon!
  3. Hmmm...there is soy in my hair products, and I do cheat sometimes with soy lechithin, and I live in a house that uses lots of Earth Balance and soy flour. I don't use flouride toothpaste but I think there's flouride in the tap water? And...even though I gave up on being grain-free after two days ...those two days showed me my diet isn't as balanced and...
  4. I'm so envious of people who have those results LOL. My diet is mostly plant based (I do eat occasional eggs and very occasional chicken or fish). I don't eat soy or dairy or gluten...and re-reading this thread, I'm making it sound like I stuff myself with processed foods, but I don't eat anything mainstream (and nothing ever with hydrogenated oils or high...
  5. I didn't see the show, but do you think he chose to do that for maybe the same reason some of us say "allergy" to servers at restaurants and even sometimes to friends?
  6. You can use balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar...really almost any kind of vinegar... 1 do one part vinegar to 3 or 4 parts oil. Wisk it together. That's all you have to do. If you mix together apple cider vinegar with olive oil, then add honey and mustard (just add small amounts and keep tasting it until you like it)...you...
  7. I've heard of people experiencing strange psychological symptoms from completely cutting out all carbs and all starch. Maybe that was inaccurate information that I read though. I do agree with that last sentence, but I think "amount" is the key word there. Are we really meant to cut it out completely? (I'm asking in the sense that I really don't know ...
  8. Yeah, I eat it. It's never given me problems. But....I was there for lunch a couple weeks ago, and an employee was taking the temperatures of all the items in the salad bar. She stuck the thermometer into brownies, wiped it off with a dirty paper towel, then stuck it into one of the wheat-free salads. I don't know if they do the same thing with the...
  9. Are you sure the blood test was accurate? Do you feel perfectly healthy when you cut out gluten and dairy, but not eggs?
  10. Actually, those are really good points. I could never stick with this as a lifestyle change either (I can barely do it for two days lol). I think in the end it will be a matter of majorly limiting corn (ie not eating entire bags of corn chips at a time ), majorly limiting pre-packaged, processed foods and keeping grains and starches to a minimum. ...
  11. So I finally managed a grain-free day . I don't know how realistic this is going to be since I really despise eating meat. Maybe I'll try to add more fish? Is it a bad idea to add in more potatoes?....I've heard of scary things happening to people who completely cut out starch. I also eat mass quantities of garbanzo beans, but...I dont' think that...
  12. Okay, let's start simple. Do you have gluten-free flour handy (a mix, such as Bob's Red Mill, or rice flour, or even potato starch)? If so, make your steak just as you normally would, but use that instead. Corn starch would probably work too. What kind of spices do you have, and what kind of side dishes do you want to make? Oh, and I'd suggest...
  13. I was actually thinking that too, but I didn't want to say it
  14. Yes, I would, but that's okay. I'm willing to commute for my gluten-free pizza
  15. I threw this stuff in a blender this morning, and couldn't believe how good it was: 1 apple 1 banana 2 spoonfuls of almond butter cinnamon hemp milk (Living Harvest Vanilla) ice Just thought I'd share
  16. Yay! I'm near the dentist and you're near the pizza place (I'll trade you LOL) I think this particular Mtn Mikes is serving as sort of a test site, and if the gluten-free pizza works out for them, they'll expand it to more locations. I hope they sell lots and lots of gluten-free pizzas! I had cheeseless pizza with tomatoes and pineapple, and...
  17. www.mtnmikes.com The crust is casein-free and soy-free too. They are really aware of cc and are even trying to come up with a casein-free cheese Oh, and they also have gluten-free beer.
  18. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert or a nutritionist Corn chips aren't particularly healthy, but they are okay to eat in moderation. Not all corn chips are created equally either...some are organic, some aren't, some are baked, some are fried, some use healthier oils than others...try to find organic corn chips with minimal ingredients if possible. ...
  19. Good points. I think that kind of summarizes the jist of it. Well, I was excited to experience my first grain-free day today. I ate an apple and some raw walnuts for breakfast, and I packed broccoli slaw (raw broccoli and carrots) with avocado and pistachios for lunch, and some veggie soup. Well...it turns out the veggie soup had corn in it (I'm...
  20. I think the scd is a good idea. I'll consider it, thanks. Thanks for the info! Yeah, I've been strictly dairy-free for about 12 years. I'm soy-free as well. Soy triggers my acne (really severely), but I've never found anything that completely clears it up. I'll check out that book and the newsletter.
  21. Hi Julie That's interesting about the fruit. Is it like a sugar/insulin thing maybe? I think I definitely need to experiment with some different options. I guess this is bad timing with the holidays coming up . Maybe I'll try to be an extremist about it for a short time...sort of a detox type thing...then I'll slowly add stuff back in.
  22. Thanks for the response. I think I'll give it a try, with the goal of keeping it up for a couple weeks, just to see how it goes. I do really like almond meal as flour. What kind of almond meal do you use, or do you make it yourself?
  23. Corn gluten is the protein in corn. It occurs naturally in all corn. Have you gone to the Whole Foods website to pull up their list of gluten-free products? I just googled the product...here are the ingredients in each flavor: Open Original Shared Link All appear to be safe except the creamy french onion, which lists wheat flour. It also...
  24. I'm considering trying a grain-free diet, mostly with the hopes that it will help my cystic acne. I'm pretty certain that corn triggers acne for me (which probably means it triggers inflammation in my body, which is probably bad ...regardless of the acne)... so....first I thought of going corn-free, but I kind of feel like being extreme for at least...
  25. I can't find it on the webpage and I don't have a bag of flax at the moment. I think you have to do the creepy thing LOL
