  1. So I'm really dumb. I've always spelled out the word "quote" and added all the little symbols and such. Okay so anyway...we have pigs now. Candida detecting pigs. Or anti-candida pigs of some sort. Wow I'm really procrastinating today In OZ there's this pasta sauce they sell in the "health food" section called Fungi Sauce. Eww...
  2. It was quite the dilemma. I did want to save them. Unfortunately, I was going to be stuck on a really small sailboat with the 16 other gluten-eaters for three more days , so I was forced to stand there helplessly and watch the poor fish eat bread OMG I just noticed we have a "wrap in quote tags" button now. How fun. Has that always been there...
  3. haha thanks...the gluteny batfish were just causing too much confusion Yay someone gets it haha. Yeah everyone started throwing bread in the water to attract more fish. I found myself feeling sorry for the fish
  4. (they're two dupes of my posts so I'm deleting them)
  5. It's okay I sent you a pm (trying to add as many smilies as I can to the board today...here are some more )
  6. LOL I think we should all be required to put that at the beginning of all of our posts from now on
  7. OMG Fiddle Faddle go to Australia . They have sooo many different brands of gluten-free muesli there it's crazy. Here are the ingredients in the Orgran brand: Ingredients: Rice cereal flakes (rice flour, fructose, salt, emulsifier: vegetable derived monoglycerides), dried fruit mixed (20%), (sultanas, paw paw, apricot, apple, peach), sunflower seed...
  8. Yay I'm so glad the Rachelville thread resurfaced. It's such a happy place ...and I miss the auxigro detecting geese lol. Now we need some sort of new creature that protects against candida...or something...i dunno lol.
  9. Cool, thanks for the info. about Orgran.
  10. I was making fun of myself. I really genuinely thought it was funny that I was reading about modified food starch last night. I guess I have an odd sense of humor and I thought I'd try to bring some lightheartedness to the conversation. I guess it didn't work. I really didn't mean to offend you. Sorry.
  11. Thank you! Everyone who feels so offended by Srokie's posts should really go back and reread them. But this time change the tone in your head. You'll see it's possible that she doesn't have "attitude" at all. This whole thing is just ridiculous....
  12. Wow it's a Saturday evening and I'm sitting here reading an online argument about modified food starch. Next time that "you know you're a celiac when" thread pops up I'm so adding this experience
  13. Is Orgran not produced on a dedicated line? I thought they were an entirely gluten-free company.
  14. Welcome back Patti
  15. They don't add wheat, they take a protein, whether it's soy, wheat, corn etc., and break it down somehow using enzymes or acids.
  16. BHT is a food additive. It's used in cosmetics as well. Many countries have banned it's use in foods, but our country seems to like such things LOL.
  17. I think you were right to post the information. I just think some of it got lost in translation so to speak. I have a feeling that if we had all read something that your doctor wrote herself, reactions here would be quite different. If she's written any articles or anything I'd sure be interested in reading them. It's funny because there are some...
  18. We are all just so nerdily interested in scientificness (yay...my word made it into the Rachelville dictionary )
  19. Yikes! That sounds cold! I've come across a lot of professors who just aren't understanding about students needing time off, no matter how valid the reason. It's just a class though. You're right that your health is more important. Hope you feel better soon!
  20. In the US, any packaged food item that contains wheat must clearly include the word "wheat" on the label. Here's some further information on the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act: Open Original Shared Link The law does not cover rye and barley. I tend to avoid hydrolyzed things in general so I could be wrong, but I've never...
  21. wooohoooooo!...gosh that book you read must have been really persuassive I do hope you will soon be able to drink some veggies and eat a yam without...getting all crazy but that is just the funniest sentence ever....
  22. Well let me tell you what I think... just kidding. Speaking of pasteurization though...I read a fun fact about that not too long ago. Apparantly Pasteur himself determined just before he died that pasteurization was an unnecessary process. As I'm typing this I'm thinking how dorky it is that I find random facts about pasteurization interesting...
  23. The only kind of butter that does not contain casein is ghee. Whole cream and butter are extremely dangerous foods to those with a casein intolerance.
  24. If you want to use a mix, Cause Your Special, Namaste and Kinnickinnick make good ones.
