  1. Happy Birthday!!
  2. This is one of the best things about Australia (okay lots of things about it are great)...but it's sooo nice to know that gluten must be stated on a label.
  3. Mosquitos carry lyme?
  4. I really like Arrowhead Mills pancake mix. There are a lot of good gluten-free pancake mixes out there though. Pancakes are one thing we are not deprived of
  5. I gave you 5, Cathy

  6. I'm also wondering about this whole rating thing. Someone visited my profile and gave me four stars out of five. what does that mean? LOL this is all very complicated
  7. The other thing I found was so much of the gluten-free food over there was full of other junk I didn't want to eat. It is more mainstream, which is good, but if the label says "preservative, preservative, milk, preservative" I'm not going to eat it just b/c it's gluten-free. CC isn't much of a concern there either. Honestly though, I've never found a place...
  8. Here's a link with some places: Open Original Shared Link Scroll down to the "on the way to LA" section. I ate at Typhoon once with no problems. They were very friendly and accomodating, but if you order something with soy sauce, double verify that it's gluten-free soy sauce. I can't think of any mexican restaurants in that area off hand...
  9. OMG I'm so glad someone else feels this way
  10. I hear ya. I got so many different opinions on where I should go (but mostly, "it's too hot there, or it's too cold there..or you'll get eaten by a croc there." lol just go everywhere you can...It's all GREAT you can't lose (but do prepare for heat and intoxicated backpacker crowds in Queensland lol). Make sure you see Great Ocean Road if you haven...
  11. Yeah I caught that. Well it was summer two days ago for me so I'm just really confused
  12. Hi everyone. I'm back in the US. I was away from the board for a while and now suddenly everything's different I'm too tired and lazy to figure it all out right now but it kind of looks like myspace with friends and comments and what not lol how weird. I'll have to stop by again when I'm more awake to read and catch up with everyone. It's just too exciting...
  13. I do think it depends on the screener you get. It seems to be tougher going out of the country than coming in (which is strange), but I just flew from Australia. I had tuna, energy bars, raisins, corn thins, a can of Orgran spaghetti, almonds, apples, banannas LOL they were very strict about water but didn't care at all about my food. Who knows. I guess...
  14. Okay so I'm travelling around the country and I was literally in Melbourne for two days so I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to what's where in the city, but I was walking around and I stumbled upon a place called Sustenance on Brunswick St. Nearly all the food was labeled gluten-free and it was yummy (but not super cheap ). I also loved...
  15. Wow that was a really interesting post Rachel and I ditto Julie's optimistic thoughts. I am however laughing out loud at the thought of HOT ice cream That is some serious ice cream determination. Actually though, it's kind of a good idea. I bet if Starbucks sold hot coffee or peppermint ice cream in the winter people would buy it like crazy (or maybe...
  16. Here's one I found in the wild. You can't see him too well since the pic is so small. I have a close-up as well LOL but I haven't uploaded it yet. Thanks for all the friendly hellos everyone. I think I'm the most random person on this thread right now. You're all having these meaningful, scientific, life changing discussions and I'm like woohoo...
  17. Hi everyone...just popping in....and OMG I have a LOT of reading to do lol. I've seen quite a bit of really impressive Lyme scientificness around here lately. I popped in a couple weeks ago and I thought I needed some sort of Biology Phd or maybe a doctorate or something to understand what was going on You guys know your stuff. I have faith it will...
  18. Okay I know these aren't lollies exactly but I just have to say this country has the best gluten-free muffins (well they're more like cupcakes ) ever!!!! OMG I just ate one in Byron Bay called Holy Cake IT WAS SO GOOD and don't even get me started on the ones in Sydney from Robertos Cakes YUM
  19. If I remember correctly, I think I stole the recipe from Tarnalberry's recipe thread. It's basically water, raw cashews, lemon, italian herbs, dill, salt, garlic and onion powder in a blender. I can't remember the measurements at the moment but they don't really matter so much...you basically just mix and blend according to your taste. It's reallyyyyyyyyyy...
  20. I just skipped about 50 pages in order to get to the latest news and this is what I found: I haven't made it to the dingo island yet. I'm on some other really random remote island in the middle of nowhere...there's nothing here except some wild koalas, lots of mangos , and some really loud mysterious speakers blasting Michael Jackson...
  21. I hate having to pay $9 for leaves! (I've unfortunately done it often LOL). I'd call the restaurant to see if they can accomodate you (you might be able to get steak with a plain baked potato and salad). Speak to your coaches as well and see what your options are. Sometimes I'm surprised by people's positive responses when I simply speak up
  22. It could be soy, or it could be McDs yuckiness in general, or something else entirely. You might try an elimination diet. It's almost impossible to know what's going on if you only cut out gluten for a week. I'd give it 3-4 weeks at least. Also remember if you're feeling lethargic and constipated...you are reacting to something...or something...
  23. Congrats!
  24. The thing about Trader's is it's not really a health food store....more of a specialty store with some health food and gluten-free items...the prices are usually great though. During the holidays, they have REALLY good dark chocolate truffles mmmmmm gluten-free and dairy-free. They also sell pomegranate seeds this time of year. I really like...
