ARCHIVED Lays Stax
Mango04 replied to Lizzz88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If soy upsets your stomach it might be more of a sensitivity or an intolerance, rather than an actual food allergy. If that's the case, it might be hard to test in a doctor's office. Also, if a highly processed food such as Cheddar Lays Stax makes you sick, it doesn't necessarily mean you're allergic to a specific ingredient. It might have more to... -
ARCHIVED Ugh! Glutened Or Legumed..or Something.
Mango04 replied to Yenni's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Kinnickinnick bread makes me so sick. I ate some last week and had an instantaneous reaction. My whole body got really itchy and I had stomach pains then my lips got really itchy and I was bloated and my throat got tight. I don't think it's a cc issue with them. I think their products contain too many scary sounding artificial ingreidients. It's not... -
ARCHIVED Please Read - No Celiacs Can Have Soy!
Mango04 replied to srokie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I definitely agree. Weston A. Price does not support conventional farming or processed dairy, so I don't understand how that makes sense. Of course some vegans and vegetarians will go out of their way to disprove the Weston A. Price findings. That's hardly surprising. For the record, I eat vegan a large majority of the time, yet I still find... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Achne Problems?
Mango04 replied to Electra's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Oh gosh Susan don't do Acutane. I did two rounds of it when I was in high school and it was the worst experience ever. It causes depression and horrible muscle pain and it messes with your white blood cells and it basically like...dries out your brain Oh and it didn't make my acne go away -
ARCHIVED Best Place In The World For A Celiac To Travel To?
Mango04 replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
It is realistic, and as long as you're feeling healthy, you can travel anywhere you want. You just have to know how to: 1. Seek out safe food in grocery stores 2. Not eat anything unless you're 100% sure it's safe 3. Refrain from relying on restaurant food 4. Carry around food with you everywhere you go 5. Accept the fact that your... -

Mango04 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel - If you don't want to stress about oats you should look for the ones with the gluten-free guarantee. They sell them in my health food store now, so there's no need to even order them online. Maybe you'd be able to find them somewhere (sorry if that was mentioned already - I'm skimming threads today ) -

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!
Mango04 replied to TBOX's topic in Publications & Publicity
The media misrepresents nearly all things it deals with, at least to some extent. There's no reason why celiac disease would be an exception. Getting celiac mentioned on a tv show is great for exposure, but I don't think a tv show like this will ever be the ideal messenger of absolutely accurate and informative facts. That's (unfortunately) just not... -
I don't *think* Henry's has it, but I dunno. Most Henry's have really nice gluten-free sections these days. I've found Tinkyada at Jimbos and Whole Foods. Trader Joe's has a rice pasta that's very similiar to Tinkyada. Another great place to shop in SD is the Ranchos market in North Park. It's all vegan, but they have some really tasty gluten-free...

ARCHIVED Starving All The Time
Mango04 replied to emcmaster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That is interesting. In fact, that's very similiar to the research Weston A. Price did. It looks as though they likely had similiar findings. I think we might all be agreeing with each other more than we realize. Look, we've all posted some research, viewpoints etc. ect. that we believe in. (I am glad others here find Weston A. Price interesting... -

Here are some interesting articles on fats: Open Original Shared Link -
Hi, welcome. I'd also recommend trying many different brands, as we all seem to have very different preferences (and yeah - make sure you toast all gluten-free bread!) You could also make sandwiches in corn tortillas (heat up the tortillas first), or if you can find Corn Thins...sandwiches are really good on those. Good luck

ARCHIVED Blood Type Diet Could Improve Health
Mango04 replied to Candy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
ditto! There should really be more gluten, dairy and soy-free chocolate in this world! ditto again! Except I'm a mixed type. I think the book "The Metabolic Typing Diet" is well worth a read. I actually wish it had a different title, because it kind of sounds like a fad diet or something, which it really absolutely is not. -
ARCHIVED Just About Out Of My Noodle.. Help?
Mango04 replied to MissBlueJ05's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's the key right there. She can still eat almost all of the things you listed. You'll just need to make those things a little bit differently. I know it's a learning process but...you really don't need to spend more money on food. You just need to think differently about the way you cook. It doesn't have to be expensive or time consuming. It's actually... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance....but Not In Argentina
Mango04 replied to mastevano's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm just speculating here, but I believe it's possible that wheat has a much lower gluten content in some foreign countries. Add on the fact that the gluten content of a bagel is particularly high, and your reactions might make sense. I don't have research or links to back this weird theory up, but maybe some people who have read "Dangerous Grains" or other... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free, Oil-free, Butter-free, Dairy-free, Low Sugar?
Mango04 replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You should pick up a raw cookbook. Raw vegans make some amazing desserts that are free of all the ingredients you mention. -
ARCHIVED Mission Work In New Orleans Next Week
Mango04 replied to olalisa's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
It's really amazing (and not insane ) that you're doing that. Just to give you peace of mind... I recently survived multiple long bus rides (some up to 14 hours), three days on a really nasty boat in the middle of no where, three more days camping on a remote island, a week in the wilderness of Tasmania and in between all that I was staying in places with... -

Most corn tortillas are simpy corn, water, salt and sometimes lime. Are there any other ingredients listed? -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Mango04 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi Patti! I'm thinking along the lines of copying and pasting the useful posts into another document, leaving out the chit chat about geese and stuff. Then re-organizing it a bit so all the posts about corn intolerance are together...same with msg, bioset, water filters, dairy, cysts, histamine etc. etc. etc. Could take years though. Who knows... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Mango04 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have this weird inkling of an idea that involves us going back (I know - crazy) and editing out all the nonsense and chit chat, and putting all of the incredibly useful information from this thread into one word document (or something) so it can be available to people who might want it. The information can be grouped into topics so it's readable and easy... -
