    ARCHIVED I'm New

Some people here definitely react to Kettle Chips.
  2. I think everyone will agree that is totally reasonable
  3. There is a law that applies to packaged food (certain major allergens must be clearly listed) but I don't believe the law has any impact on supplements. Your best bet with supplements is to call the company that makes them. I wish the laws were better too. It's frustrating
  4. Your best bet might be something pure and natural, such as coconut oil or olive oil. Natural oils sink into the skin and are surprisingly not greasy at all. Sometimes I put coconut oil on my (very acne prone, oily) face and it works very well. California Baby is good too.
  5. Whenever Blockbuster calls to tell me my movies are overdue, the number on my phone is 999-999-9999, so it's probably just something like that....
  6. This is random but did anyone see "Planet Earth" last night? There was this scene showing really fierce protective geese trying to scare away a fox. I was thinking those are the exact geese Rachelville needs
  7. Coconut oil with a bit of sea salt is just as good as butter on anything
  8. I'm extremely casein intolerant but pharmaceutical grade lactose does not bother me either. I do wish they would make lactose free bc pills though
  9. You might want to look into asafoetida. I have read that it may not be safe, but I don't understand why. Here's one blurb about it:
  10. I don't know but kinnickinnick makes me so sick! If people who feel great all the time eat it and still feel great, well that's awesome I know there are a lot of people here though trying to determine the cause of severe, mysterious reactions and some of those people eat kinnikinnik daily. I think there's something in it that's not good for some people...
  11. Sorghum is gluten-free. Many gluten-free beers are made with sorghum.
  12. Red lentils do have a peppery spicy smell and they turn mushy. Red lentil soup is good though, or you can make Indian dishes with it by adding ginger and curry spices and then mixing with rice. I think they're safe to eat
  13. Thanks NGG! The chocolate cake didn't have icing b/c we couldn't figure out how to make an icing that would be free of all the things I needed it to be free of . My mom made a raspberry sauce instead. It was really good. A family friend also sent me a gift card to Whole Foods. I'm lucky to have lots of people who are supportive of my food weirdnesses...
  14. It's important on an elliptical machine to keep your feet flat, if possible. A lot of people stay on their toes and lean forward too much, which isn't quite the same workout. If you're on an elliptical that doesn't have the arm movement things, make sure you keep your weight centered rather than leaning entirely forward into the handrails. That's how I...
  15. I unfortunately only caught the last fifteeen minutes of Oprah yesterday. I had been wanting to see that episode but I forgot...darn. I saw the part when the woman stated her opinion on vaccines. I thought she stated her case very well in the couple sentences they let her say. It looked like the pediatrician lady was not happy that that was brought up...
  16. Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! I spent my whole day in job interviews. It was not the best . I did have a tasty dinner though and (lots of) really awesome chocolate cake , so I guess I can't complain.
  17. Okay so I did this once a while back and I just did it again. Both times I could not help but say "purple hammer" immediately after I was done calculating. I really want to know how that works
  18. I almost want to cheat on my soy-free diet just to try that! Glad dairy-free is working well for you
  19. Yeah one of the main purposes of the site is to promote the 130 foods that they feel are "the world's healthiest." I like the list of foods they provide, because a person with celiac disease (and no other intolerances) can eat almost everything on it. It shows that there are plenty of natural, whole, healthy foods that a celiac can eat. I was thinking...
  20. I was kind of thinking the same thing. Highly processed milk proteins combined with artificial colors, flavors and msg cannot be good for anyone's digestive system, regardless of milk or gluten intolerances. Most people probably feel horrible after eating Cheetos, but would never think of attributing their symptoms to food. As celiacs we become more aware...
  21. Are you still having digestive problems and do you think the cause is too much meat? I would think the best thing for your gut would be to rotate your protein sources, and to make sure you're properly balancing your proteins with the correct amounts of fats and carbs. Maybe you can look at all of your protein sources: chicken, beef, pork, fish (can you...
  22. Well I apparantly need to eat more fish and more calf's liver Interesting...but I think I'll continue avoiding liver and all things that come from a cow
  23. Hi - There are quite a few threads here about Austrailia and you'll find many Aussies on the board. I recently spent 21 weeks there and I was perfectly fine (I avoid gluten, dairy and soy). It was easy. Do some searches in the "gluten-free travel" and "outside of the usa" forums for "Australia." You'll find plenty of info. on restaurants, grocery stores...
