  1. Wow - I'm glad you figured it out.
  2. I've traveled long distances with just bags of frozen veggies in a cooler in place of ice packs and everything stayed cold just fine. I also have a cooler called a Fridge to Go - you put the whole thing in the freezer and it stays cold for 8 hours. It does have built-in ice packs so I don't know if it would be allowed, but maybe. Other than that you can...
  3. Almond Breeze is gluten-free, but contains carageenan, which can cause digestive troubles: more here: Open Original Shared Link google carrageenan for more info
  4. I don't know much about birch-related foods...sorry if any of these are off-limits: Coconut Oil Extra virgin cold pressed organic is the best kind and you can use it as a sub for butter on/in everything. Hemp milk and hemp tortillas (the tortillas are higher in fat than the milk - but vanilla hemp milk (Open Original Shared Link is creamy and really...
  5. I react to soy but not to peanuts (it wouldn't let me vote unless I answered the second question too, but I didn't really have an answer for that question...) I don't eat peanut butter very often though and I don't know if my reaction to soy is an allergy or an intolerance (I actually suspect both but I can't say for sure...)
  6. I'm pretty sure lactose intolerance won't cause sinus congestion. If that is your symptom you are likely reacting to a protein in milk. It is definitely worth giving up dairy completely if it causes sinus congestion for you (it did for me as well). Lactaid might help with the D caused by lactose but it won't help your sinuses.
  7. Am I too late to get to post on the 1000th page? Yay - I just barely made it - how cool!
  8. Unless you have actual problems with chocolate, I would recommend trying a Nana's Temptations chocolate mint confection bar. They are gluten and dairy-free and will definitely satisfy your chocolatey candy bar cravings
  9. Chebe makes a really good cinnamon roll mix...on the back of the package there's a recipe for fruit tarts, or something like that, which I assume are similair to pop tarts. I made the mix into chocolate cinnamon rolls the other day but I bet it would be really good as pop tarts too. (I'd post the recipe but I threw out the bag and you need the mix for it...
  10. If you're to the point where eating six croutons is a majorly big deal that makes you feel guilty and horrbily sick...well...it sounds like you've made a whole heck of a lot of progress!
  11. Thanks NGG but I'm very sensitive and I've never had even a little bit of a reaction to Bob's. Their products are actually tested for gluten so I've always wondered why so many ppl have problems with them. It's a mystery...
  12. Are you exploring possibilities of other intolerances or are you pretty sure your only problem is gluten? I only ask because gluten-free pretzels usually contain high concentrations of soy flour (which can be really hard on the digestive system). The other thing I wonder about is the risotto. Did your risotto contain dairy? Even if it didn't, I've had...
  13. Has anyone tried Bob's Red Mill Cinnamon Raisin bread mix? Is it worth buying? A store near me carries it, but I was hoping to hear some product reviews first...
  14. It contains chemical perservatives and artificial flavors. Stuff like that gives me symptoms...maybe that's something to consider if you're eating quite a bit of it ps - I have friends who are literally addicted to their "spray butter"...I don't know what's so great about the stuff but you are not the only person who goes through a bottle a week
  15. Sorry if I came across like I was accusing you of being paranoid. What I was trying to say was I became paranoid about lots of things after I first started reading this board, and I realized eventually that although this is a really great resouce that helps you consider hidden sources of gluten, there are times when people suspect they've been glutened...
  16. Chebe is really good if you bake it correctly. You have to make the dough really thin and make sure you bake it long enough. I've never made Chebe into an actual loaf of bread, but I wouldn't imagine it would work that way....it works well as really narrow breadsticks. The pizza crust and the foccacia are both really great too. I don't know exactly why...
  17. If you have time, you might want to order this: Open Original Shared Link .com/Orgran-Spaghetti-Tom...e/dp/B000EHZZUE and if you will have access to a stove or microwave...this: Open Original Shared Link .com/Orgran-Pasta-Sauce-E...s/dp/B000H6QZG0 Not everyone likes the canned Orgran spaghetti, but I find it pretty good when hungry and stranded...
  18. Lots of people here speculate about things that might possibly be making them sick, but it doesn't mean you have to be paranoid about every little thing. I'm pretty sure someone posted once that OPI is gluten-free. I don't do my nails often but I've never worried about gluten in nail polish.
  19. Hi - You can find good recipe threads Open Original Shared Link and Open Original Shared Link. Your best bet for pasta is Tinkyada. It's actually really good. Other staples you should get include a gluten-free flour mix (Bob's Red Mill will work) and xanthan gum. I've recently discovered sweet rice flour works well as a bredding on fish and chicken...
  20. I hate to say it but there is a psychological aspect to all this too. When I tell myself "okay, I'm getting rid of all my gluten-containing inedible products and I'm going to do everything in my power to avoid every speck of gluten, and when I do this I will feel better"....well, I do feel better. Whether it was the mental power of confidently telling myself...
  21. Yay for Bob's! I once wrote a complaint card to Whole Foods about the whole placement issue. They generally post and publicly acknowledge all of the comment cards but mine just seemed to vanish into thin air. I don't think they wanted to do anything about the issue, but I did tell them I would no longer buy gluten-free flour at their store unless they...
  22. If it gets really cystic, some dermatologists will inject the cysts with cortizone, which causes them to heal quickly and not scar. I have hormone related acne as well...if you don't already avoid soy you might want to try that. There's a perscription you can get that's part benzoyl peroxide part salicylic acid. I can't remember what it's called but...
  23. www.glutenfreedrugs.com is a good source of info. You can search by catagory.
  24. The most important thing to remember is...your rules about food should not change just because you are in a different place. Everyone has their own way of coping with a gluten-free lifestyle, but my rules are: 1. Never eat anything unless I'm 100% sure it's safe 2. Don't rely on restaurant food - make my own food whenever possible 3. Carry...
  25. I really do think this is a case of the company being overly cautious. Distilled grain alcohol should not be a problem from a gluten perspective. Distilled alcohols and distilled vinegars are considered safe. That's not to say there isn't another source of gluten that they're not disclosing.
