  1. I really like these. What do you all put in them though? So far all I've tried is smoked turkey with lettuce and carrots. It was good but the flavor of the tortillas, with the nutmeg and cayenne, is so distinctive that I'm not sure what else would be good in them. Maybe veggies and hummus? Hmmm I'll have to try that next....
  2. Well you can get plenty of fiber on a gluten-free diet, and it sounds like you are, so that shouldn't be a problem. I wonder if your body is reacting to the soy differently now that your diet has changed, especially if you're around soy all day. I'm not an expert (though I've dealt extensively with cystic acne)...but if it were me in this situation I would...
  3. Wow that's interesting. My first thought was maybe your body is detoxing. But I wonder....what have you added to your diet in place of all the bread? Have you added large amounts of any replacement foods? Do any of your replacement foods happen to contain soy...or any other ingredient that is new to you?
  4. I knew I stole that idea from someone here...I couldn't remember who though. Well thanks for the recipe, it comes in handy For anyone wanting egg-free mayo and such - I think it's AndreaB who has a really good thread full of recipes for vegan mayos and cheeses and really tasty things like that....I'm sure it's easily findable in the recipe forum...
  5. It's a retainer. It was put there (about 12 years ago) to hold my teeth in place when I got braces off. That's a really interesting theory. I also have cement stuck to my teeth in various places from past orthodontic and dental work which I suspect is a bit toxic, so maybe that's contributing as well. I have family members who...
  6. I'm sure it's high quality/pure stuff. Well I think it is anyway. It says it's grown in a strictly controlled environment and "the most advanced technology of sound vibrations is applied to delicately treat the cell wall to maximize potency." It doesn't really have a brand...it's distributed by a doctor - this MD guy who's really into alternative medicine...
  7. Tuna salad is really good mixed with just olive oil or olive oil and a bit of vinegar (balsamic is good). There's a recipe somewhere on this board for tuna tacos. You basically mix tuna with avocado, fresh salsa, a bit of lime, and put the mixture in corn tortillas. If you don't already eat coconut oil I would highly recommend it as a replacement...
  8. I'm sooo with you there. The best option I found was Crystal Stick combined with a couple sprays of Aubreys, but I tend to switch back and forth as well.
  9. Thanks The chlorella itself does taste a bit like dirty grass huh ? I can't find any info on the metallic taste either so I'll just assume it means the stuff is working . I couldn't hack the side effects the first time I tried it (maybe I'm just wimpy ) but (I think) I'm gonna stick it out this time...
  10. Well Bard's is pretty good too. If you have a BevMo anywhere nearby you should be set
  11. Hi all. May I pop in to ask a quick chlorella-related question? When I take it I get this really intense metallic taste in my mouth. Is this normal? It's not a big deal. I'm just wondering if that means the mercury is detoxing or just moving around and being annoying . I know other people who take chlorella but don't get that symptom, so I don...
  12. I recently finished The Shadow of the Wind and would definitely recommend it...
  13. Could you please? We would appreciate it
  14. That's a lot of speculation over something that one person reacted to, especially since we don't know 100% for sure that the reaction was specifically gluten-related. This is the first time a really good gluten-free beer has been created, and it's the first time a gluten-free beer is suddenly widely available to American Celiacs (I'm not sure if they...
  15. I'm also very sensitive and I don't react to Redbridge. I drank it with another person who's extremely sensitive as well and neither one of us had any problems. It's possible that high concentrations of sorghum or other grains might cause a person with an unhealed gut to react...or maybe the problem is related to yeast or something else in the beer. ...
  16. A whole bunch of people here react to Bob's Red Mill and other and other processed or prepared gluten-free food, so you're not alone there, even though I know it's really frustrating. I'm really sorry you are having such a hard time coping. Do you have people you can talk to about how bad you're feeling? At least you can know that people here sympthize...
  17. Flavored water is definitely not the same as pure water, especially if it contains artificial sweetners and flavors. It tastes good but it's more like a soft drink. You can easily make your own flavored water though. Pour water into a pitcher and add some fresh cucumber and orange slices. Let the pitcher sit in the fridge overnight. Lemon also works...
  18. Gosh, sorry. That sounds tough. I don't have advice either, except I hope you can get her to a doctor soon....
  19. Is she casein-free as well? I know someone with casien intolerance whose main symptom was internal bleeding.
  20. Are you staying at the Doubletree on Hotel Circle? Will you have the ability to leave the hotel to get food? If so, Outback and PF Changs are both pretty close to where you'll be. I don't know much about the Sea World food....
  21. There actually seems to be some validity to the theory that the large prevalance of gluten intolerance in our society could be related to the fact that we do not properly soak and sprout our grains. I'm not telling any celiacs to go out and buy a loaf of sourdough bread...that's not what anyone's saying. It might make more sense if you read the articles...
  22. Yeah I have that problem. I never noticed until recently that it was so noticable to others, b/c I blush for absolutely no reason. I'm probably blushing right now just thinking about the possibility of blushing . I read once that if you feel yourself blushing, you should puposely try to make yourself blush more. Apparantly that makes it go away, because...
  23. I recall really liking Open Original Shared Link, but I've never tried any other gluten-free sugar cookie mix
  24. Here are some ideas: www.gfsoaps.com Bare Minerals Dove Crystal Stick Kiss My Face makes a great, inexpensive, all natural olive oil soap. Juice Beauty Badger Balm Coconut oil (great as a lotion) MyChelle (really good face soaps, moisterizers, face masks etc.) Aubrey Organics (not the conditioner) Giovanni...
  25. Happy Birthday!
