  1. Jersey - I think you are really on to something with the water theory! I understand that although Aquafina is very pure, it's just filtered tap water. People like the taste because it lacks important minerals found in spring water. I think Aquafina is made by Pepsi? Anyway, go for the spring water everyone! It can make a huge difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  2. I believe he's just saying sub-clinical gluten intolerance is more difficult to diagnose because the symptoms might not be as obvious and the biopsy won't show blunted villi. I went to him with severe stomach pain and he told me I was probably gluten intolerant.
  3. Do you think you're casein intolerant, or do buster bars have gluten in them?
  4. hehe thanks. I guess new pilates classes just weren't doing it for me anymore....but a new pilates class that happens to be in a whole different hemisphere - that might do the trick.
  5. That's awesome. I bet you can call the caterers too, and they'll probably give you some info. The last time I went to a wedding I totally lucked out. They had a huge salad and fruit bar, and I snuck in some Alpsnak bars, so I didn't starve
  6. Maybe you should go see your doctor, just to ease your mind a bit. Or you could see a different doctor if you don't trust the one you're already seeing....
  7. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (that's how much of an expert I am LOL) I seem to eat quinoa with no problems, but this might relate to Rachel's reaction she's been talking about on her thread. I really don't know
  8. That's the guy who kind of unofficially diagnosed me with gluten intolerance. I went to see him and he said, "I'm 100% positive you are gluten intolerant." I said "okay," and haven't eaten gluten since I've also felt a whole heck of a lot healthier since, so I guess it all worked out
  9. Here's some info that kind of helps explain it: GLUTEN SENSITIVITY The subject of sub-clinical (or hidden) gluten intolerance is frequently the missing link in creating a health promoting diet. This recently discovered health problem is at epidemic proportions in certain populations in the United States and sadly is largely unrecognized. Later, I will...
  10. Here's one explanation: LEAKY GUT There are also many connections between sub-clinical gluten intolerance and other intestinal problems. To describe this connection in more detail I will review the structure and function of the small intestine. The small intestine is constructed like a tube. The inside of the tube is the healthy mucosal lining...
  11. Applegate Farms makes a good organic bacon. The ingredients aren't too weird.
  12. Woah - okay I think I'm kind of caught up. Rachel - Sorry your appointment was so upsetting and you haven't been feeling well. Do you think the "dancing intestines" could have something to do with that new medication you're on? It's supposed to be doing stuff to your intestines right? Do you think that pharmacist might know anything? He seemed to...
  13. Here is my question: What is the treatment for parasites? Does it always require medication? I thought there was some sort of anti-fungal diet you could go on to try and eliminate them.
  14. LOL seems like lots of guys are embarrassed to pick up tampons. It's odd really...
  15. Welcome to the party Cissie. I think it's pretty hilarious that right when a couple men join in, everyone starts a long conversation about ovaries.
  16. Thanks for the tip. I just looked up New Caledonia and it sounds like a beautiful place. I spent a week in New Zealand once but that was not long enough. I think I need to go there too Good luck with your appointment Rachel! I like your idea. If your doctor questions anything you say just tell him/her that you're getting all your medical advice...
  17. I do one cup brown rice, one cup dry lentils and four cups water (all in one pot). When it's done I add olive oil, balsamic and sea salt. It's good with veggies too.
  18. Hehe I think I must be crazy! I don't know anyone over there and I don't yet have a job or a place to live, but I'm REALLY excited about it! (and a little bit nervous, but excited too) I don't know how hard it is to get a job at a health food store over there but I'm thinking I might aim for something like that, so at least I'll be surrounded by safe food...
  19. I'm traveling through a work abroad program. So basically I have a work visa and I'm hoping to find a job when I get there and travel around the country as well. It's just something I've always wanted to do. It'll be a great way to shake things up a bit - after eliminating gluten I still suffer from cubicle induced brain fog. So...I needed to do something...
  20. Oh ha! It's GREAT that I only have one week left. In 12 days I'll be living in Australia. Sorry I just keep having to find random ways to announce that as often as I possibly can.
  21. It's really hard to get work done when I only have one week left at my job and this thread exists
  22. Hmmm...true. Okay well then we need a google search bar just for this thread. ps - I think this slumber party is so popular because all the food is gluten, dairy, corn, soy, msg, and sulfite-free. It must be the secret to throwing an awesome party
  23. Too bad the thread can't be organized into chapters LOL. That way there could be an msg chapter, a corn chapter, an ovary chapter etc. etc....then you could always go back and find the info you need.
  24. I jump into this thread to post the most random things.... I have cable internet (which I think is better than DSL?) and I pay $24/month. You should look into it.
  25. The one I get isn't that bad. It's basically rice, lentils and veggies. The lentils and rice are really mild, but the veggies are a little bit spicy
