  1. It's a really healthy oil to cook with. You can melt it and use it instead of butter when you bake stuff too. You can pop popcorn in it. Stir frys are good with coconut oil. I keep a jar in my bathroom too. You can also use it as a moisterizer for your skin and as a lip balm and alllll sorts of other things.
  2. Thanks for the info Rachel. I'm definitely going to try that stuff. So about mouth blisters... I have crazy problems at the moment. I went to the dentist (again) yesterday and they gave me anesthetic (again) and insisted they had to give me the kind with epinephran (sp? again) and I broke out in crazy amounts of mouth blisters. ...
  3. Most people think everything that's white must have milk in it. People say that a lot about mayonaise too. Then the same people will have yogurt for breakfast and pizza for lunch and then say they hardly had any dairy that day. It's quite odd really...
  4. LOL PURE OILS ARE SAFE. Sorry I was just joking with the caps lock, but you really don't have to worry about those. monosodium glutamate is msg. Here's a good list of ingredient explanations I just found. It's pretty straight forward: Open Original Shared Link Here's what it says about autolyzed yeast: Yeast All brand-name packaged yeasts...
  5. seasame oil should be okay as long as its just pure oil. The great thing about stir frys is you don't really need a recipe. If you like all the ingredients that you are throwing in the wok it's hard to mess it up.
  6. Yep I saw it at Whole Foods in the little raw foods section. Pretty much everything in that section is over $12 so I didn't really notice the price I might try some and eat it straight out of the jar lol. I really like coconut
  7. I just read about the website in Yoga Journal during my lunch hour, so of course my first priority when I got back to work was to check it out! LOL Here's a link to their collection of gluten-free recipes: Open Original Shared Link Edit: sorry moderators - meant to put this in the recipe forum
  8. Hi - If you do a search for "McDonald's" in the Eating Out forum, you will find quite a few threads on this It's been debated extensively. I think the best answer we've come to is it's a personal decision you have to make, knowing that an ingredient in the flavoring they use was originally derived from wheat, and cross contamination is a major issue...
  9. What do you put it on? Is it good to just eat by itself? I was thinking of buying some the other day, but I wasn't sure what I would do with it.
  10. I'm traveling on a work visa, so I'll most likely try to find a job in Sydney, but I'm hoping to travel around the country as much as possible. I can't wait to go find all sorts of fun gluten-free food
  11. I think some gluten-free cakes taste just as good (maybe better) than gluteny ones. We threw a huge graduation party for my brother last weekend and served all gluten, dairy and soy-free food. People loved it. After the party, when everything was all cleaned up, my brother's friend came rummaging through our kitchen. When we asked what he was looking...
  12. Kiss My Face makes a moisterizer with sunscreen. I haven't tried it yet but I really like all the products this brand makes. I have't checked the ingredients on this one but a lot of their stuff is safe for us. Open Original Shared Link
  13. Some ranch dressings are gluten-free. It depends on the particular brand you are buying. You need to read each and every label. It can be daunting at first but you'll get used to it. On celiac.com there's a list of safe and forbidden ingredients. You might want to print that out and take it with you to the store. I personally think it's MUCH easier...
  14. I think you can teach yourself. I've never heard of a dietitian who was tremdously helpful in terms of celiac disease. You might want to check out the books Gluten Free for Dummies and Dangerous Grains, and of course read a whole bunch of threads on this board.
  15. This is my advice, because this is what works for me: You have to find a balance. Don't obsess over CC or let the fear of gluten crumbs take over your life. Instead, remain aware of the dangers of cross contamination and do your absolute best to avoid any amount of gluten. You probably can't tell that gluten makes you sick because you've never...
  16. That's really interesting. Thanks for sharing that.
  17. That sounds awesome! Reminds me of the pumpkin Jamba Juice smoothie I always used to order during my soy eating days....
  18. Bump. So I just did a google search to try and find some gluten-free places in Sydney, and do you know what comes up?...Yeah this thread So I might as well keep it going.
  19. I've been using Alba Botanica - much less toxic than conventional stuff but not too pricey either
  20. My all time favorite travel food is raw sprouted pumpkin seeds made by Go Raw. These are way superior to your average pumpkin seed . If I'm starving and having blood sugar problems and I need protein, a handful of these does the trick. Oh yeah, it's like $12 for one bag, but worth the investment if you're traveling. I find them at health food stores...
  21. I think maltodextrin is only generally safe when its used in food. When it's in cosmetics or medication, I believe that's a whole different situation. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm not entirely positive on that one.
  22. I just don't ever cook with gluten. Non-celiacs don't really need gluten If you don't tell them it's gluten-free they never know the difference.
  23. I don't think you can ever be entirely sure that any fast food is gluten-free.
  24. It sounds like a stomach bug - maybe some sort of virus? Or maybe food poisoning.
  25. I recently tried this one and liked it: Open Original Shared Link It definitely appears to be corn-free. I tried the Merlot one. Here are the ingredients: Water, Organic Tomato, Organic Onion, Organic Carrot, Organic Garlic, Organic Merlot Wine, Organic Mustard, Sea Salt, Organic Parsley, Organic Basil, Organic Italian Herb Blend, Organic Black...
