ARCHIVED "you Might Be A Celiac If....."
Mango04 replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
LOL those are good. a couple more: - you have a good friend whose nickname is "D" and suddenly you feel a little strange about calling her that... - you get really annoyed with a person who dips a cracker in your hummus (my friend D recently did that, ironically enough) - you even question the ingredients in things like apples and cucumbers... -
ARCHIVED Best Gluten Free Food
Mango04 replied to lapetit8's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I do one cup peanut butter, one egg and less than 1/2 cup raw sugar (maybe a little over 1/4 cup- but I really don't like sugary things) . Works pretty well. -

Hi - I'm not vegan, but vegan restaurants are my favorite. I usually don't have a very hard time getting gluten-free food at vegan restaurants (and I'm soy-free too). There's also an entirely vegan market near me and I love shopping there for gluten-free foods. I especially love raw vegan food.

This is a really dumb question but can anyone tell me how to poach an egg? I've never done it before (suppose I could look it up - but you guys seem like you know what you're talking about )

ARCHIVED Optimal Diet For Celiacs
Mango04 replied to Phila's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That's a great list, especially for anyone running out of ideas for healthy food. As celiacs, we can eat just about every singe thing on that list (with the exception of a couple grains they mention). -

I was actually lying for the sake of the people on this thread who might not be able to eat them . Then I realized my avatar is of me eating pizza (need to change that ), so that was kind of twisted logic. My true opinion of the tortillas: They are really good and I am really excited about them . I made wraps for lunch yesterday and they were quite... -

I forgot to add - I love sprouted raw foods, such as sprouted pumpkin seeds and sprouted sunflower seeds. Sooo energizing and good! I'm also a big fan of my juicer -

Okay so now I have to grow all my own fruits and vegetables AND make my own olive oil. Just kidding, but seriously, what's up with the inability we have in this country to buy safe food? Why can't a bottle that says "olive oil" just be olive oil? That whole thing is really bizzare. Okay I just checked my olive oil. It's Bionaturae, and it claims... -

RiceGuy - I agree with what you're saying. I am definitely not a fan of the dairy industry! Actually when I was in college I used to print out anti-dairy industry articles from notmilk.com and post them up in the bathroom that I shared with five other roommates lol. Yeah they thought I was nuts but they put up with it . I actually prefer to get protien... -
ARCHIVED Optimal Diet For Celiacs
Mango04 replied to Phila's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is an awesome thread. Here's what works for me: Absolutely no gluten, no dairy and no soy. I stick to organic, natural whole foods as much as possible. I don't shop at conventional grocery stores and when I do shop I try to stay on the outer perimeter of the store (near the whole, single ingreident items and away from the pre-packaged stuff)... -

Did you find out about the cysts Rachel? I ask because when I start bumping into things and dropping things it's usually hormonal. Sorry you probably talked extensively about the cyst thing already (I missed a few pages here and here ) If your guy cooks I think you should give him a bunch of ingredients that are safe and challenge him to cook something... -

Here's from the website: Q: Which Del Monte products are gluten-free? A: Del Monte Gluten-Free Products Please note: The list below includes products that, to the best of our knowledge, do not contain wheat, oats, rye or barley/malt ingredients. The list may change or not be complete due to formula changes or new product introductions. Please read... -

Peel your eggs. You can eat the yolk (the yellow thing). I eat Bob's Red Mill flaxmeal with no issues (note the spelling LOL). If you're uncomfortable with it though you can buy a different brand. I think the salt and pepper should be okay. Oh ya Julie you're the one who posted this a while back so I tried it and it was so good... -

Here's some info on flax: Open Original Shared Link You can always sprinkle it on your salads. I don't know about how long scrambled eggs keep. Sometimes I make them in the morning and put them in a corn tortilla and wrap it all up in tin foil to bring to work. Or - I mix egg with veggies and bake the mixture in muffin tins and freeze for later... -

What kind of gluten-free cereal are you eating in the morning? Is it sugary? I only ask because between the cereal and the enjoy life bar and the cookie (and all that fruit), you're getting a lot of sugar. I'm not saying fruit is bad...you just might need to balance it with some protein (this is where almond butter is really handy). You should definitely... -
Eddie went to my high school (years and years before I did - obviously ). He apparantly dated our attendance lady (when she was in high school there too). It was pretty funny to think that the lady handing out detentions and Saturday schools used to date Eddie Vedder. That is reallyyyyyyyyyyy awesome about Anheuser-Busch!!!!

ARCHIVED Help Do I Have Celiac
Mango04 replied to charmaine broxton's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi - You could definitely have celiac or gluten intolerance. If you know you feel better on a gluten-free diet, then go gluten-free! The test results could be wrong. You can simply eliminate gluten from your diet, and see how you feel. Or, if you'd like to pursue further testing, you might look into something such as Enterolab. PS - I don... -

Okay - just trying to help.... You said the chips upset your stomach, so definitely take those out. Can you do almond butter? I know you said you don't like the co-op, but can you go there for just a few things? Can you tolerate garbanzo beans in the form of hummus? How about lentils? I'm not actually intolerant or allergic to corn, but...
