  2. i've been wondering if one of my twins has sjogren's. she has had dry eyes for a couple of years. our eye doc said it is unusual in someone her age, he has about a handful of young patients with dry eyes. my sister's daughter has recently been diagnosed with sjogren's---our eye doc says it could be the cause of tianna's dry eyes since it is often associated...

  5. my 14 1/4 year old daughter has never baked regular wheat bread in her life, but after she was diagnosed with celiac she made a wonderful loaf of gluten free bread--------on her first try!!! she used GFG bakes bread. she made the basic featherlight bread using the featherlight mix. i kept having meltdowns and crying about my 3 girls' diagnosis, but that...

    ARCHIVED Reflux?

i asked the doc about whether or not my girls reflux could be related to the celiac. he indicated that it could and that we might be able to get them off the meds eventually. that will be like getting a raise---i pay out $100 dollars amonth for their prevacid. cassidy---my baby had a fundoplication/hiatal hernia repair about 1 1/2 ago. she had really...
  7. tianna is not earing very much, but she is not nauseated. she has rashes all over-----her rashes are what started our families celiac diagnosis. when i was looking up rashes on the internet i ran across DH and discovered her rashes fit the pattern. i think that she has probably been sick for some time, but because my baby was having so much trouble i just...
  8. i asked our ped gi about this-----he says that companies that put that on their label are just to lazy to check their stuff----or something to that effect. christine
  9. shannon---i did read something about restricting gluten in a person that might have an undiagnosed problem with it. i can't remember it exactly, but i will try and find it again. christine
  10. does anyone know if kroger brand tomatoe sauce in the 8 oz cans is gluten free. christine
  11. the drink the doc gave us is thick and tastes like pediasure. i am going to try and use it in a milk shake---can anyone give me the name of a gluten free ice cream. i bought a bucket of ice cream and e-mailed the company---they replied and said they were sending my question to their dietician----and i never heard from her. christine
  12. i thought all food producers had a dietician on staff----their's must be somewhat misinformed. christine
  13. i was going to email them---but couldn't find and email address on that site. christine
  14. now i see! i didn't read that line before. they apparently don't understand that celiac is an autoimmune disease, not JUST an intolerance. christine
  15. i don't get it-------what is shocking? christine
  16. we saw the ped gi yesterday. molly looks great. kassie looks good, but has lost a little weight. the doc wasn't too concerned about them, but is is concerned about tianna. he just did her endo the week before christmas and yesterday she weighed about 8 lbs less than she had a month ago. she is only 73 lbs. he said she was the only one of the 3 that looks...
  17. a pediatric gi would be the one to see. christine
  18. i think that a sence of humor is vital to survival. when my twins were little and things would be hectic, sometimes i would think to myself that in a few years, this will be really funny, so i think i'll laugh now. christine
  19. liz, what kiind of flour did you use in your lefse? christine
  20. kaka--my girls had tTG levels of 18 and 22, and ? (don't know the other one) the 2 that had biopsies: one was negative and the other was iffy. when i asked the doc about no damage, he said they probably did have damage because of their numbers. since your numbers are alot higher than my girls' , i would guess they just didn't hit the right spots with the...
  21. kathy, tell your doctor that you would like a copy of his and your (was it son?) anyway, that you want a copy of the blood test results to have in a file at home. if he isn't exactly good at explaining things, post the results on here and i am sure someone can tell you what the tests and the numbers mean. christine
  22. i love the idea of being able to use oats-----but i don't know how we would tell since two of my girls didn't have normal symptoms, and i am only recently realizing that kassie's symptoms have been caused by celiac. christine
  23. kathy, i am finding that some people haven't kept up with the new info. i have a firend that has had celiac disease for 8 years-----she still thought vinegar, and quinoa were not safe and didn't know that buckwheat isn't wheat. christine
  24. was he being tested to see if he carried the gene, or was he being tested to see if he actually had celiac disease? christine
  25. kathy, i have 3 girls just diagnosed recently diagnosed. we put them gluten free on jan.1 . 2 of my girls have had biopsies, one had the endo for reflux, the other had the endo because she had a positive blood test. both girls had negative biopsies, although one did havae one area of raised intrepithelial lymphocytes (SP?). my youngest daughter has not...
