chrissy replied to lilysma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
my youngest (now 2 1/2) had really bad reflux---she had to have a fundoplication when she was almost 10 months old. she had alot of damage from her reflux, which was caused by a hiatal hernia. is your baby on a PPI? you might try using neocate formula, it is pretty expensive, but has been a godsend for a lot of mothers. you cannot have celiac disease... -

i've had reflux for about 15 years. both of my twins have reflux. my baby had such severe reflux that she had a fundoplication/hiatal hernia repair at 10 months old. i think that my youngest celiac daughter is developing reflux also. she has been complaining of stuff coming up her throat---last night it was burning. i quit taking meds awhile ago because...

chrissy replied to TCA's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i guess doctors go into denial too??? not testing to see if he has celiac, because the diet could be dangerous?? do they think that ignorance is bliss? our ped gi told me that the gluten free diet is a healthy diet and that it is used for other things also, such as irritable bowel. christine -

i don't mind a doctor not knowing info nearly as much if he/she says, "i really don't know much about this." it's when they make a point blank statement as fact, and me, only a high school graduate, knows differently. we go to church with a doctor (not our family's doctor) and he told me that he tests for celiac so rarely that he really doesn't know much...
