  1. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Please keep them coming. I'll have to look to see what I can find locally. Aztec or Azteca (not sure) is one I've seen. Anyone know if it's supposed to be gluten-free. I'm sure the homemade ones are best, but sometimes I'm looking for convenience.
  2. JoeB, I bought a box of Barbara's Honey Rice Puffins right after dx. I tried a bowl a few times with days or weeks in between. I was definitely glutened by them. Haven't bought anymore....Not to sidetrack Elonwy's thread. I have no experience with Thai Kitchen. I hope you find the culprit, Elonwy.
  3. I wish I could figure it out. It's all so new to me. Lime? Could it be? I ate some chips (don't remember the brand) that I was supposed to be able to eat but caused the same pain as the Mission Corn Tortillas. Seems like they had lime also. Nini, I haven't tried eating just regular corn. I did suspect corn because I can't eat Bob's Red Mill Mighty...
  4. I had a severe case of Scarlet Fever as a young child in the mid-60's. GI problems most of my life. Celiac dx Dec. '05. Not sure there would be a correlation, but guess anything is possible.
  5. I don't doubt that. I may have sensitivities other than gluten (Celiac dx) that I haven't pinpointed. I just have finally reached the point that if I'm certain a product isn't working for me, I don't continue to eat it, trying to convince myself that it's ok.
  6. I'd like to hear which brand of corn tortillas you like. I've tried Mission several times, but they always hurt my tummy a lot. I know it's the tortilla because it doesn't matter what I put in them. I know it's not a corn issue because I can eat other corn products. Thanks for your suggestions.
  7. Request has been sent. Golly so many great folks here. I can see the headlines now..... Scientists Discover New Symptom of celiac disease: Extreme Kindness & Generosity!
  8. Which chicken nuggets would these be?
  9. Sorry I posted and vanished....a mini-icestorm here in the Mid-South knocked out my internet for awhile. I am fortunate, I have been to Kroger in nearby towns and either they have no gluten-free or the 6ft 1/2 high section that Vincent talked about. Our Kroger (small town) has shelves and shelves and freezer rows of the items I mentioned earlier in...
  10. Woo Hoo Woo Hoo Hoo!!! I am so happy happy happy, and I knew y'all would appreciate my feeling. I just came from the local Kroger; AND I was just told that they are about to greatly expand the gluten-free section!!! The gluten-free foods they stock has already grown rapidly even just since I was diagnosed a couple of mos ago. Let me say it again.....
  11. Random Observation #2: Everytime someone on this board says, "Have you ever gotten sick by...." If I've eaten that food, then a huge YES has always welled up inside of me. Bob's Hot & Tasty Cereal, Van's Waffles, Amy's Tofu Scramble, those are just a few. I've wondered if if was cross-contamination or the soy causing a similar reaction. I think...
  12. Yeah, I got really sick the 3 or 4 times I tried the Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. (I kept trying it because it was one of those things I was "supposed" to be able to eat, right?) BUT I am able to eat Bob's Creamy Rice Hot Cereal (or something like that). Whatever his (strictly) rice cereal is, I can eat it with NO problems at all. In fact, many days, it's...
  13. Yeehaaa! This was my favorite at-home flavored coffee, and I had not found any info on it so I had been avoiding it. Happy Days! Thank you, Kim!
  14. About 1/2way down this page Open Original Shared Link they've posted a correction. I have the Delphi lists printed, but updates are rare and it's all in a large notebook. I want to thank Elonwy. In one of the posts I read that you bought a palm for the purpose of carrying the CT list with you. Heck! I have a Palm!!! Why did it not occur to...
  15. Chrissy, you'll find your way through. The important thing to remember is that there's not a right or wrong answer to your questions. Take one track, and if it doesn't work for your family then change tracks. You're right, with blood tests, you'll know. Through obvious symptoms you'll have guidance. Best of luck to you and your family. It's not...
  16. As sort of one of the "wait and see" people I'd like to clarify. I don't want to wait and see if frying removes the gluten. Nope. None of us believe that. I am curious what the parts per million wheat content of the fries is. If it's less than 10 or 20 ppm almost everywhere this is considered gluten-free. More than that and I have SERIOUS issues with...
  17. Do you have a Hardee's near you? Their low-carb burger is gluten-free. It comes in a lettuce wrap rather than on a bun. It's messy; I never realized how much of the juice and condiments gets absorbed by a bun It's deliciously wonderful to get a burger on the go though.
  18. I haven't found a product yet that I can drink a glass of. I use it on my cereal and it sits ok this way (I've never been one to drink my cereal milk...yegh). I've been gluten-free for about 10 wks, and along with celiac disease diagnosis I have trouble with dairy and soy as many others here. When I get ready to try drinking a glass of milk again, this...
  19. Ditto My husband and I made this decision yesterday after I was glutened by Van's waffles. I know that is a product many of you and your children are able to depend on. I had suspected them as a source of glutening for me, but as of yesterday there is no doubt. I will contact the company today. This is just the most recent of a fairly long list of...
  20. Regarding Lactaid Ditto
  21. Alright, months have passed since your question, but YES I had them this morning and an unmistakable glutening was the result. I've suspected it before, but this time there is no doubt....it HAD to be the Van's waffles. That's what brought me to the boards, to determine if anyone else had problems with Van's. I trashed them and won't ever try them again...
  22. I have eaten at Outback 3 times since gluten-free and have gotten sick twice. The Outback in Jackson, MS didn't even have a menu. They brought me a black & white copy from the internet. I did not speak with the manager, only the waiter. I was glutened. Twice I have eaten in Memphis at the Hack's Cross Rd. location. Once I had an extremely positive...
  23. David, thank you! I was diagnosed with celiac a couple of months ago, and am still trying to find my way through a seeming mine-field of wheat in processed foods. I am one of the "super-sensitive" who gets sick from only a trace amt of gluten. I consider that to be my good fortune since physical damage is done regardless of the degree of the reaction...
  24. Cynthia Kupper is the Executive Director of GIG NA Open Original Shared Link I don't pretend to understand the technicalities of what she's saying. I do put cautious faith in what she says, however. I like what a few others on this board are saying. There's time to watch and listen and then to make a decision on how I want to approach the McD FF issue...
  25. This is my fear and also my firm belief. Case in point: McCormick's (in the delphi list) states that they will clearly list all gluten-containing ingredients. I have seen recipes for gluten-free chili, etc. using McCormick's Chili seasoning packet. Reading the ingredients on these pkgs, no gluten grains have been listed, so according to McCormick's...
