  1. Thank you for the confirmation, Nini. I knew that DH was Dermatitis Herpetiformis, but got confused when people were talking about recipes their rashes enjoyed. My brain had to do some scrambling to catch up, but I got it.
  2. I love it! OMG this is SO fun. There are a lot of "unique" (yes, that's a good diplomatic word) appetites out there. Green bean sandwiches and pancakes with ketchup. LOL. The cool thing is that I know y'all didn't just say that to make me feel better about my peanut butter and sweet pickle sandwich. Some of these I'll actually try. Some I won't
  3. No, but there are funny ones. I'm so very glad this is a place we can all laugh together. That's ok, Erbetty, we all have those moments. I'll have another cup of coffee just for you....I was just looking around for a good reason to finish off the pot. For what it's worth, it took me the longest to figure out all this dh, dd, stuff that you see...
  4. That's what I want to know.... What unusual "recipes" (and I use that term loosely) have you invented and enjoy that others in your circle of friends/family might snub? I'll start. My husband thought this was really weird until he tasted it. 1- Place a handful of fresh baby spinach leaves (stems removed) in a cereal bowl. Separately, prepare your...
  5. Is it just me or does it seem unethical for someone to compile everyone else's recipes for a profit? I do print them and am creating a recipe file (notebook) for personal use so that my dh and I have delicious variety. IMO that's the use that seems the intent of this forum. I deeply appreciate everyone's willingness to share such wonderful recipes.
  6. I have to laugh....I really am glad you like it. But it definitely shows that different tastes work for different people. In public I would have to say, "No thank you. I wouldn't care for any."
  7. Yeah, I think any gluten-free flakes would work. I can't find Barbara's here, but Idaho Spud flakes worked great. Erbetty, your dip sounds yummy too. Ok, the other night I just did chicken pieces because I wanted a "fried chicken" substitute. Now I'm needing some "chicken tenders." I miss Abner's tenders since dx. Chicken tenders with comeback...
  8. All of the Kinnikinnick products I've tried have been very good. So sad......the Wild Oats in Memphis is no longer carrying the pizza crust. They said it didn't sell well!!! Do most of you order them online or what?
  9. DELICIOUS!! And it did smell so wonderful while cooking. I had to use different brands but the result was mah-velous
  10. Tonight's supper is sure to be yummy. Thank you!
  11. Nini, I saw a post where you described how you do an oven-fried chicken using tater flakes. Please post that again. It looked delicious and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
  12. So far it's unanimous. Hands down my vote will be the 3rd for Gluten Free Pantry. Easy to mix up and a delicious crust that tastes the way I remember pie crust tasting. Following the pkg directions is all that's needed with this one Quiche. mmmmm.
  13. I eat rice cakes and like them. I like Mother's Rice Cakes (they are a Quaker product) The only ones I've tried are the plain, salted variety. Good with whatever I put on them and can eat them plain. I am super sensitive and these have never caused a problem. I keep them tucked in the console of my car and stashed in a desk drawer at work, etc.
  14. *getting up from the floor where I've been pounding my fists and kicking my feet* Ok, I brought M & M's for everyone to start your wknd off on a good note *passing the bowl* Geez it's a wonder we're not all old and wrinkled with all the drama that goes on in this Celiac world of ours.
  15. WOW Y'all are good!!! You just explained another one (or two)!! Have struggled with low blood pressure most of my life. Normal for me has been 104/68, and not unusual for numbers to dip into the 90's over the 50's. At these times I'd always get very weak and dizzy (of course) and nothing to do but lie down. AND despite not the healthiest of eating...
  16. For me it's a rollercoast. I feel the worst of course after an accidental glutening. But sometimes just feel bad anyway. 9 wks gluten-free.
  17. NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! As a child, my parents didn't tolerate temper tantrums. I'm grown now. I think I'll have one.
  18. I'm one who reacted, but only to the Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. I'm fine with the rice cereal and use the flours without problems. Very likely another ingredient in the MTH Cereal that I'm reacting to. Don't know other than diagnosed Celiac what other sensitivities I may be dealing with. (But I have to almost retract that it maybe another sensitivity...
  19. Ok, here is my understanding of possible wheat/gluten "conditions." -Wheat allergy - Testing, etc. is similar to other allergy testing. I don't know what physically happens to the body with this one, but it is not actual damage to small intestine as with Celiac. I haven't heard of a "gluten allergy" but I think a person could certainly be allergic to multiple...
  20. Alright I finally made my call to 1.800.KROGERS I had to work my way through a number of automated menus to finally get a real person, but it wasn't too terribly bad. AND, the customer service rep was familiar with Celiac (ok, so how many of y'all have called????). She confirmed the addition of a new set of gluten-free foods in our store, and said that...
  21. Welcome, Kimberly! And of course you are in the right place for friendly support regardless of what the ultimate diagnosis turns out to be. I am a rather newly-diagnosed Celiac myself (12/05) but you'll find others here to be very helpful. Others who have actually walked in your shoes. To my medically-untrained self, it certainly sounds like your...
  22. Great question and great responses! Once I learned I have Celiac, I couldn't understand why my reaction was so fast. Pre-diagnosis, I usually couldn't get through a meal without having to excuse myself to the bathroom. After diagnosis and going gluten-free, that of course subsided rather quickly. I still couldn't understand if Celiac attacks the intestine...
  23. Through a search engine optimization contest anyone with their own Webpage can easily and "FREE"ly do their part to support Celiac research. Read this https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=1290. The author of the Watching Paint Dry website, Open Original Shared Link) mentioned in the link above, is trying to raise $7,000 through a contest. He has...
  24. Jennifer, those donuts were great! I made them for my non-gluten-free husband (well, he's gluten-free only in support of me at home) and he loved them! I followed your recipe exactly and they were perfect. Only difference I used powdered sugar on some and cinnamon sugar on some. Both were great. I always appreciate quick and easy recipes. It actually...
