  1. You are very welcome! I have the same problem with library books! LOL! I have been better since I have had my kids, but I can't seem to ever bring them back on time. We have a small library in town that doesn't have overdue fees....I like that A LOT! hehe! In my opinion, the cookbooks are worth the $$. I find myself getting bored eating the same...
  2. I have her newer one "The Gluten-Free Gourmet Cooks Fast & Healthy". I borrowed a couple of her others from DH's coworker who is Celiac too and they are great cookbooks! She has that flour mix and her 4 bean flour mix in the books, plus TONS of other great recipes! You could try the library first to see if you like them or will use them. I got the...
  3. Another vote for the KitchenAid....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this appliance!!! I have had mine for a little over a year and can't say enough about it!
  4. My first attempt sounds like that too and I used a mix! LOL! It was very spongy and was horrible unless it was thinly sliced and well toasted. Then it was pretty good. I hope to experiment some more and get it better next time.
  5. This new one I ordered online does not use the bean flour...only white rice flour, potato starch flour and tapicoa flour. I was going to mix it myself, but for 5 lbs it was only $10.79, so it seemed better to do it that way. It can be used cup for cup as well, according to Bette Hagman's cookbooks. HTH! Kim
  6. I have been using a gluten-free All Purpose flour mix made by Bob's Red Mill. There are several out there. I actually just bought a 5 lb bulk package of Bette Hagman's mix online the other day to use when the Bob's runs out. I used cup for cup with the Bob's. I made my homemade chocolate chip cookies with it and couldn't really tell a difference! Kim
  7. Thank you so much, Paula! Oh and the turtleneck thing too!!! OMG! I also can't wear them b/c they drive me nuts...they make the lump feeling even worse! Thanks for posting! I hope to find out more from my dr this week.
  8. BTDT = Been There Done That Sorry!!! I hope you are feeling better today!!! I don't feel too bad today....just need to stay clear of the soy.
  9. For me along with the gluten, I can't tolerate onions (whole or spice), garlic (whole or spice), peppers, seeds, dairy (although I will eat cheese and take a Lactaid) and now soy (that seems to be in large amounts though..like a glass of soy milk). Some fruits have given me issues since going gluten free too...bananas, pears, apples. I am eating a very...
  10. I have just figured out that I have a problem with soy as well. Can't do dairy, so I was drinking Silk and drinking soy lattes......not a good plan I feel extremely bloated and gassy. It seems almost as bad as my lactose intolerance. I have been able to do soy sauce in the past, but am interested to see if I can still do it or if it is too much. I now...
  11. Hi Angi!! Thanks for responding! Sorry you are having the same issue. I sometimes feel like there is something stuck in my throat too! I know that I do have a small nodule on my thyroid (it has been there even when my tests are normal)...I wonder if that is what it is? Let us know what your dr days!
  12. Thank you Robbin! I will ask her to check that as well. I hope you start to feel better soon too! Kim
  13. Short history.....end of Oct 2005 I had blood taken and it was normal for my thyroid. I do have a small nodule that my dr watches, but isn't growing and isn't doing much of anything. (I did have some kind of thyroid issues as a child and was on medication for a while...don't know if I had hypo or hyper though). Fast forward to this week...I called my Gyn...
  14. I usually take Macrobid for UTIs and it is pretty mild on my tummy....my tummy is very sensitive. I believe that it is gluten-free, but am not positive. Good luck!
  15. I go to Dr. Maureen Latanick at the Millhon Clinic (near Worthington Hills). She is the one who suggested that I be tested for Celiac. She gave me some good info, but I got most of my info online. She did recommend that I call Mary Kay Sharett (there is a class being taught at Children's Hospital where she is speaking ~ Mary Kay Sharrett, MS,RD,LD,CNSD...
  16. I am recovering from a relapse with anorexia, anxiety issues and just found out that I have a gluten intolerance/Celiac 5 weeks ago. I have managed to gain a couple of pounds back, but it is definitely a struggle. I have been seeing a nutritionist and if it weren't for her, I would never have found out about the gluten issues. It definitely makes things...
  17. Not sure, but I have had these on my butt, legs, knees and arms for years. I will have to see if they start to go away now that I am gluten-free. They do itch occasionally...hmmmmm....now you really have me thinking!
  18. My IgG was the only positive blood test I had too (my dr only ran IgA, IgG and tTg). I went gluten free 4.5 weeks ago and had a very positive dietary response. I didn't see the GI until after I was gluten free (and starting to feel a lot better) and chose not to do the biopsy b/c I didn't want to have to go back to eating gluten and didn't want the fact...
  19. My Mom went to her dr with the list of tests for the Celiac panel (after I gave them to her). She wanted to be tested since I just found out I have a gluten intolerance (postive blood work and dietary response). Her dr asked if she had any symptoms (which she hasn't, other than having colitis) and said if she didn't then he didn't see any reason to run...
  20. Thanks guys.....maybe I will just give it some more time. I am really trying to follow a bland diet, but I feel like I eat the same thing over and over again......rice, chicken, beans.....LOL! I did just order a bread maker, so I hopefully can make some of my own bread and add that to my diet. I have tried some gluten-free bagels and love them, but they...
  21. Yes, they were regular Fritos. Actually the Scoops. Ingredients are: whole corn, corn oil and salt. I guess it could be the fat content, but I don't normally follow an extremely low fat diet, so this amount of fat was not unusual for me.
  22. and that they are made on a dedicated line, yet I still reacted to them. Really odd too b/c my old symptoms before going gluten-free were mostly excessive gas, gas pain, bloating and this was more an extremely urgent need to go and loose stools (Sorry, TMI). It was within a half hour of eating the fritos, went twice and was then fine. I don't seem to have...
  23. I saw a huge change within 24 hours. I still have some of my old symptoms, but not to the degree that I had them before. I have been gluten-free for 4 weeks tomorrow. I think that it takes a good amount of time. I have read that it can take up to a year or 2 to completely heal.
  24. Not sure about other diseases, but the benefits of a definite diagnosis are important, especially if you do have Celiac, you will need to stick to a gluten free diet for the rest of your life. If you haven't gone gluten free yet, don't do so until after seeing the GI, who will most likey do an endoscopy/biopsy to diagnose. I made the mistake of going...

    ARCHIVED Would You Believe?

Sounds like a wonderful appointment! How nice to have someone listen to you and take you serioiusly. I have talked about my multiple food intolerances for years without anyone saying much at all....they all blamed it on IBS. Keep us posted on your progress. Where are your from and where is your dr?
