I can't remember her name....she has a science background and a set...
  2. this is the funniest thing ever....a big guffaw here... but tempered by the fact that Penguin is leaing. Please don't go....you are SO quick with the wit and an astute answer. Will miss you. Come back.
  3. Thanks for the update, Rachel. I do hope you find relief...you too, Rinne! Lyme is really scary, had a friend who had it in Carmel adn she got SO sick, but they did diagnose it almost immediately and she was cured with no lingering symptoms. But....42 years is such a long time to have an undiagnosed condition. That is awful. Just a drive...

  5. Well I guess I am not enlightened either.....I call women gals also And girls, women, whatever comes to mind! BTW you ALL are so darn cute, whoever's picture is in your avatar!
  6. HI Jessica! nice to see you! Wow - - 12 students? what a dream...here in CA until recent years, there were 32 kids in every class. Nightmare. Now the max is 23, I think, for K - 3. TAVI - wish you were goign to the conference. I can't afford it either but just charged it to the credit card - cha-ching - probably not such a good idea. Seemed...
  7. HI everyone! It's a voice from your past!! I miss you guys so much. Can't keep up, just read a couple of pages and check in occasionally but do not post....I can't let this thread take as much time as it did before, that's for sure!! But, from what I have gathered, Rachel is being tested for Lyme? wow! I also have been following another post where...
  8. Good points from all you wise ones! This whole thing reminds me of a Celiac acquaintance at my church, whom I met just once. He sends the HUGEST and longest group emails to everyone, including me, about Celiac. There is SO much science, conjecture, opinion, and fact in these emails, and in his conversations, that I absolutely KNOW he is doing the...
  9. First of all JUDY - - hang in there darlin.....yes, do your swimming and I SO hope you're feeling better today! You sound overwhelmed......sending hugs to you. Evie - nice to see you again! Have you tried the bar of soap under the sheets thing for leg cramps? It is a mysterious home remedy but many swear by it....how great, you will see some family...
  10. Interesting stories and yes, it does sound like Mono is evil! Have never had it....dont' quite now what triggered mine. Have been depressed quite literally all my life, I remember being SO sad as a very little girl and crying all the time. Became suicidal in junior high. Always very skinny and VERY low blood pressure....but worked out religiously and...
  11. Hi Mariann, yes, I too use the term allergy in casual conversation.....you're right, it is much easier! BUT...I HAVE written a letter to the editor to the Bee, to point out that error, but also to commend them on the article and getting the word out. I was so excited to see it! I love Trader JOe's.....There is wonderful sausage there - Cantella's Cilantro...
  12. Love seeing you girls again. I am just trying to be good and stay away from the board! Not getting as much done as I need too, though... Also love your stories of encouragement and learning about your lives. The funny thing is, the LAST thing on my mind is meeting a man......I am so consumed with other worries! Don't expect I will EVER ever meet...
  13. Fiddle-Faddle, THANK YOU so much for those words....they truly hit the spot somehow. What an encouraging story and look how you found your way! Yes, "chilling out" for a while is what I am kind of doing. NOt sure which direction to take and so not really taking any action now. My brain.....or lack thereof - is growing increasingly inept and frustrating...
  14. I just found this thread....so sorry for your work difficulties and the time you are having now but even sadder abour your puppy. I got my beautiful old girl from the SPCA at 9 weeks and she is almost 12, and found my sweet Annie, ragged, dehydrated and abused, running for her life on a frontage road near the highway. They are my true joy...There are...
  15. Hi everybody....am still here......just not in such a happy time of life currently! Not as bad as it was, but just in a .......bewildered and lost state, maybe? Like, where do I go from here???? Long story. EVIE - - good gosh darling girl, what a scare! SO glad you are doing better and they took good care of you in hospital. nice to see you...
  16. I just read it too! It's a good article, although in one little sideline she DOES say Celiacs are "allergic" to gluten... I have written to this food writer in the past, about a restaurant that was closing and my opinion as to why (the ridiculous prices), and in our correspondence mentioned that I was Celiac and didn't eat out much any more......she...
  17. so true... Hi everybody! Been keeping a low profile here.... Fried pickles.....I REALLY don't get that one at all. Deep fried anything.....so disgusting. I was in the waiting room of the hospital the other day, and there was a family from Holland there, six people, here for three weeks, we chatted a while and they were shocked at the lack of...
  18. Nikki - macaroni and cheese is known as a classic American comfort food....can be very good and creamy and then there's this horrible boxed stuff - ugh - with no real cheese on that one, just a powdered facsimile that emulsifies with water added......ewwww....but the REAL mac and cheese - yummy - - - DEEP FRIED - - how sick is that? Can you imagine...
  19. Lucky you.....I lived in Monterey for 7 years - but ate wherever I wanted....non-diagnosed Celiac! When you say convention center I assume you mean the Marriott? If so...you can walk to Montrio - a really wonderful bistro open for lunch and dinner with a great British chef....he should be able to accommodate. Of course, I moved away two years ago...
  20. Clix, thank you very much for that info and yoru personal insight. Don't have time to properly ponder that at the moment.....more later. Am struggling myself, don't know what 's up, things were finally clear and wonderful going gluten-free (about eight months now), and then plummetted a couple of weeks ago. Climbing back out.....trying to. Very encouraging...
  21. What I want to know is..... HOW DO YOU GUYS REMEMBER THIS STUFF????? my mind is an utter sieve....I have read all of this and it just falls right through. Can't remember endings (or beginnings) of books I've read within the last couple of years, even (except Grapes of Wrath - who can forget that one).....can't follow complex movie plots..... don...
  22. Bienvenuto, Marghe! Nice to hear from you. Me piace molto il tuo paise (my spelling is horrible) e sono andata in Italia 23 anni fa, per sei settemane.....ho domenticato quasi tutti l'italiano..... But welcome to the board, you can learn so much here. And by the way, your English is quite good! From what I have heard and read, it seems to be...
  23. Aw Leah .....here's to Jane and may her spirit live on....which it will. It is indeed the bitter and the sweet, when one finally loses one's grip to cancer....and very good that she got to see and talk to her friends and loved ones. I hope your heart will take solace in your memories of her. Thank you for your kind thoughts....I am doing better. Having...
