  1. my favorite thing is smoked salmon w/ cream cheese and chopped red onions, served on Trader Joe's Savory Thins. I eat that for dinner a lot, in fact.
  2. I totally agree. I was ecstatic when I found the Light Tapioca bread - it really is like white bread to me (which I never ate before, only dense whole grain types also)....I LOVE it! Great for sandwiches, french toast, or just toasted with butter and honey. Yum.
  3. Welcome! Yup, things get kinda crazy here sometimes... But, just to let you know, I too examined my poop with a flashlight, so I would know EXACTLY what to tell my GI. Photographs were too gross, so I had to give him a nice, verbal picture. It was kind of exciting to see normal poop come back, like seeing a long-lost friend.....
  4. Celiac poops, from my own experience, are not really on that scale - I mean *distinctly* celiac. Because mine, in the last couple of years before diagnosis, had white stripes in them (mucus and/or undigested fat), were light grey in color (until they became black with occult blood), and....now here's for the reallly gross part....sometimes just streams of...
  5. to continue our scatological discussion....(I love that word and don't get to use it in a sentence often) I was watching Oprah one day and her guest was Dr. Mehmet Oz. I bought his book called "You: The Owner's Manual." On the show they discussed poop in great detail and how it was supposed to be. (My mom has my book currently or else I"d refer...
  6. Guess I'm about to find out.....in a moment of wistfulness and missing my morning oatmeal too much, I ordered them....will let you know how it goes!
  7. Great ideas! Wish you two lived closer, we could go to lunch! When I first posted that, I was so new to Celiac and so bewildered...this board has been a lifesaver. But, I am always learning something new here, which is great. By the way, what do you order at Sushi bars? I never thought of going because I definitely have to eat sushi w/ soy (and...
  8. Hi Beverly, I've had these sores during very dry winters, and they lasted weeks....I used Neosporine, slathered it up there w/ a Q Tip every day and night, and they went away within days.
  9. I've had really low blood pressure all my life, and felt like blacking out frequently. Wow, yours is really low....my lowest was about 84 over 48, I think. Since removing gluten, four months ago, my blood pressure is actually normal for the first time. I think it was 110 over 70-something the last couple times it was measured...
  10. Yup, I agree with Tiffany, I really like the Clif Nectar bars....the berry one especially and I order them by the case...
  11. I couldn't agree more wtih what Katherine said....you might be driving your doctor crazy. Just work on eating well and trying to calm down! You are way overscrutinizing....you're going to drive yourself mad.
  12. I forgot something very important! White noise....I sleep with fan on every single night of my life. If I am out of town, or camping, I take a noise machine I bought at Target. AND I use ear plugs...these are lifesavers if sleeping in noisy situations or if someone's in the bed/tent. I am a VERY light sleeper and the slightest noise or movement will wake...
  13. I had to weigh things and mull this concept over for quite a while...didn't want any addictive sleep aids, either. Then, for two years I was on possibly the most addictive one - Klonepin, a very powerful benzodiazepene. I weaned off quite successfully. I have four friends who take this very drug for sleeping, and it has changed their lives. I was...
  14. L'oreal Endless 8-hour - wear it all the time - no problems, w/ a Neutrogena gloss over it....
  15. Does it have to be over-the-counter? I had really fierce insomnia for 10 years, and I do mean fierce. NOTHING worked. I was exercising like a fiend, two hours of weight-lifting a day, four days a week, and then very strenuous climbing and/or hiking all weekend. Still no sleep. I did try everything, and have used a variety of prescription sleep pills...
  16. ohhhhhhhhhh it was wonderful, well, I have never been afraid of needles, so that little pricking part might bother you, but it's just for a second. And then, you just float off to a magic place for a few seconds (that's the wonderful part ), and then, fully OUT! I was totally sedated so it's just like you're asleep. Had colonoscopy/endoscopy at the...
  17. Sorry.....Chelsea is absolutely right. In California, the biggest disaster ever to hit the educational system was the Whole Language approach and "invented spelling" - - - a true horror. Guess we've gotten off-topic a bit here....
  18. I am so jealous... If I have even a smattering of gluten (and I am most definitely Celiac with not ONE villi and outrageous TGa and whatever other levels those are) I am extremely sick. Craved gluten-y junk all weekend.....would love a McGriddle, have never had one, never wanted one pre-dx....why do they look so good now??
  19. One-fourth Norwegian, the rest, Welsh/Irish/Scottish and a tiny bit of French. Father died of colon cancer at 56. Lots of diabetics and depressed people on mom's side....even one schizophrenic whom I've never met, and some with "IBS" which I'm quite sure is Celiac.
  20. I totally agree....since he posts so frequently......
  21. I use perfume every day - a parfum spray or eau de toilette - and don't have any problems. The alcohol dries on the skin and I can't see that gluten in a fragrance molecule would do any harm - but someone correct me if I can wrong!
  22. Whew...I feel better....if you find any more worms, put it in a latex glove and THEN stick it in your pocket or backpack or whatever....
  23. then you mean, while working at Burger King, you pulled out your gloves and sifted through your poop? Then logged onto the internet to post this? How is that possible?
  24. Thanks gals.... Carla, is progesterone cream a prescription cream? I'll ask my other doctor....and I'll definitely try the evening primrose.... Not EVERY month is psychotic PMS, but at least half of them are....thanks for the info. I'll keep working on it!
  25. What? She died? I had no idea. I am so sorry Richard...what a beautiful, beautiful girl. How long ago, if I may ask? My God, the things people go through....I guess no one ever said it would be easy... Heaps of blessings to you.
