  1. We went through every formula you can imagine with both of our kids to use as backups and supplements and even the gluten-free ones were hard on their tummies. Hopefully you won't have as much trouble as we did. We ended up on Neocate, which is very specialized, but the only thing my daughter could handle was breastmilk til she was 16 mos. My son nursed...
  2. I'm not sure about the cereal, but General Mills will list gluten ingredients. I LOVE the companies that do! The getting started list in my sig line (I know you don't need that) has a list of companies that do list gluten if that might be helpful.
  3. I use both of these with great luck. I can find the Health Valley ones at the local health food store as well as Kroger and Publix. You might check there and if they don't have it, ask your grocery store to order it. As for the funfetti cake...... I'm a cake mix girl myself. The BEST one I've found is Cause you're Special. I make cupcakes and freeze...
  4. Happy Happy Day!!!!! So excited for you. I'll never forget that feeling!
  5. Tamara, First of all, Welcome! We have all been in your overwhelmed shoes before and know how you feel. It will get easier! I put together a list to help new people get started. The link is in my sig line. I hope it might be helpful! Hugs, Tanya
  6. I tried to eat at a Chili's in downtown Chattanooga, TN last night and they were completely dismissive of me and told me that they couldn't do anything gluten-free. I asked to talk to the manager and was told he was busy. Needless to say, we won't go back there. We went to Outback instead and had a Wonderful experience. I'll try a different Chili's sometime...
  7. I'm so glad he's doing so well. Life will get better all the time!
  8. I went gluten-free while breastfeeding my daughter and was amazed at the difference in her health. It was a miracle for us. Since then, my son did a gluten-free trial and also had miraculous results. I breastfed her for 16 mos, a year of which i was gluten-free. There is a link in my sig line on how to get started on a gluten-free diet that would be very...
  9. My sig line has a link to another thread on getting stared. In that is a list of companies that will disclose gluten ingredients. Hope that helps!
  10. I use the Pamela's Baking Mix and make the muffins in the recipe on the side of the bag. Delish!
  11. I'm so glad to hear your success story. Most of us have similar ones and know that feeling of complete relief to finally have an answer in hand! My son ate tons for a while, but now it kinda comes and goes. He's been gluten-free for a year now. I wouldn't worry. Kids eat when they need to, usually. Unlike we adults who eat out of boredome sometimes...
  12. I've been married for 7 years and have been on the pill most of that time, except when pregnant or breastfeeding. For anyone worried about using it for birth control, I got pregnant 2 times while on the pill. This was all before I knew about going gluten-free and celiac. It now makes sense why it might not have been so effective for me. I'm now on the...
  13. My son's tests were all equivocal or normal, but he kept getting sicker. He got to where he wouldn't eat ceareal, crackers, and most breads. At 3 he was still wearing size 24 mos. We started the diet last Jan. and he's now in a 4T and eating more all the time. he is doing incredible. The GI agrees that he clinically has celiac, even though the tests...
  14. Everyone's tastes are different. We actually can't stand the EnerG bread. I make Pamela's from the mix that I buy on amazon .com. There is a link in my sig line to a list started for newbies a while back. Hope that helps. Kinnikinik also has good breads you can buy frozen at Wild Oats.
  15. Isn't it wonderful!!!! So happy she's doing so good!
  16. I too had "growing pains" all my life, was tested for RA, and was finally told it was all in my head. At 29 I went gluten-free while breastfeeding my celiac daughter. For the first time in my life I don't hurt. I never got a diagnosis, but I wouldn't eat gluten on purpose for anything. I got glutened last week and am still feeling the effects of it....
  17. My Dad and my daughter have both recently been in the hospital, so I was in a similar situation while staying with them. Hormel makes some shelf stable microwaveable meals that require nothing added. The Southwestern Black Beans and Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Chicken and Rice are all gluten free. They're pretty good and real food. It's not...
  18. Hey guys. Thanks for checking on Megan. I just posted to caring bridge. I hope all of you are doing well. ********************************************* Sorry I didn't update more yesterday, but the keyboard was broken and that was about the best I could do. I was just too tired last night to get online. We FINALLY were discharged about 2:30 yesterday...
  19. just posted this to caring bridge. Thanks for all the well wishes. ********************** Megan's heart cath is still on for Monday, 1/8/07. We are supposed to arrive at Vanderbilt at 9 am and the cath should be sometime around 11 am. The stents are still planned, but I hope they will not be needed (I think). Megan is doing incredibly wonderful. She...
  20. Hello everyone! I've really missed being around, but life hasn't slowed down any in the last month. I'm really hoping we will have some sense of normalcy in Jan and I can be active on here again. I miss all of you and think of you so often. Cole's birthday was 12/10, so I was swamped getting ready for that, then my dad had a stroke on 12/11. I was helping...
  21. So sorry to have dropped off the face of the earth, but life has been NUTS around here. As soon as we got the D cleared up by getting her off the antibiotics and pumping her full of probiotics, I got a kidney stone that brought me to my knees (literally). It's been a whirlwind, but I finally started to feel pretty good by yesterday. I hope all of you are...
  22. Thanks for checking in guys. I've been REALLY SICK with a terrible sinus infection. Dr. said today it may take 20-30 days of antibiotics to really knock it out. I haven't been on here in a couple weeks because of it and Thanksgiving. I was just logging in to post my latest from caring bridge. Thanks for the love and concern from you all! I hope all...
  23. My aunt, who I suspect has celiac disease, is in the hospital and very ill. going to have her gall bladder out tomorrow. Has had pancreatitis for about a month now. She's suffered from thyroid issues for over 40 yrs. She had a duodenal ulcer that almost killed her about 30 years ago. She also has fybromyalgia and a host of other problems. she is such...
  24. just updated caring bridge...... ***************************************** Just wanted to let everyone know that Megan's heart cath has been postponed until 11/29. They called to change it because of a problem with the cath lab. She will be 3rd case that day, so we don't have to be there until 11 and probably won't start until around 1. I think God needed...
  25. He sounds just like my son. My son was sooo undernourished that the docs said to give him anything he would eat. We did and his menu is the same of your son's. After going gluten-free he is doing some better and will eat some grilled meats, but NO veggies, unless you count fries and tots. It's so hard because I LOVE veggies and will eat anything. My...
