  1. I bought the EnerG egg replacer today...looking forward to trying it. Thanks for the help!!!
  2. My son didn't walk until 16 mos and was sooo clingy. It's crazy how much this disease affects people emotionally. He still is pretty picky, but is eating so much more variety now. I think it's because he feels better. Since my kids were diagnosed, I now think I have it. It's a genetic disease, so all of your kids should be tested, but she really sounds...
  3. I don't know much about that diet, just wanted to send you a hug! I just found out my daughter is allergic to dairy and eggs, so I'm doing a gluten/dairy/egg free diet since I'm nursing and trying to figure it all out. I'm not to tears yet, because I am able to do this for her, but if it were for other reasons, I'm sure I'd be a mess.
  4. My son had something called a geometric tongue before going gluten free. It just looked like sores all over his tongue. He was too young to complain about it, though. It's clear now that he's gluten-free. That is a symptom I have read about in various places.
  5. I'm in Huntsville, AL. I just got brave enough to try them last week. I told them my son has a severe wheat allergy and wheat can't even touch his fries. They were soooo nice. He didn't get sick at all and he is super sensitive. I was so glad! It's nice to have something we can grab in a tight
  6. my son takes Gummy Vites - says gluten-free on the package.
  7. There are soooo many things that gluten can cause to those who cannot tolerate it. For me it was rashes, joint pain, irritibility, and gas. My son, D, late walker (16 mos), poor speech development, tooth enamel defects, irritibility, rashes, insomnia. My daughter, tooth enamel defects, projectile vominting, reflux, constipation. She is very delayed, but...
  8. Colitis can cause bloody stools - bright red. colitis can be caused by many things, like food allergies. Dairy could be the culprit.
  9. this is just my theory, but I was actually thinking of this the other day... I had very bad toxemia with my 1st pregnancy and morning sickness like you wouldn't believe. My son was born skinny and always has been. at 3 he was diagnosed with celiac. At 6 weeks old his stools were bloody. After much testing, it was determined that he had a dairy allergy...
  10. Make sure they run all 4 antibodies, an IgA deficiency, and a CBC to check for anemia. We found all of this out the hard way. You may have to insist, but please insist. My son was very similar in symptoms, plus he had terrible tooth enamel defects. He went through 2 negative biosies before we found out the tests are inconclusive for many little ones....
  11. my daughter also gets the rash around her mouth and was just diagnosed with eczema. She was also just tested for allergies and was positive for dairy and eggs. She also has celiac disease. Other problems with foods might be causing the rash. My heart goes out to you. I hope things get easier for you soon.
  12. I'm just another parent in the no biopsy corner. My son went through 2 negative biopsies before I knew any better. Tests on kids under 5 are most often inconclusive or false negative. His blood work was also inconclusive, with very hight IGg and only slightly elevated IgA. The diet trial has worked miracles. If your son is responding to the diet, there...
  13. I would be thrilled to help. So many moms give up on breastfeeding and don't realize just how beneficial it can be. I nursed my son until 20 mos., when I found out I was expecting my daughter and had to go on meds that could hurt him. My daughter had open heart surgery at 9 days old and will have another in August. I've been pumping the whole time. They...
  14. You might want to considera diet trial no matter what the tests say because sometimes you can get a false negative. If you need help starting the diet, feel free to PM me. My son still eats hot dogs, pizza, chicken fingers, cookies, cupcakes, etc. They're just gluten-free. I do hope she feels better soon.
  15. I have way more experience than I ever wanted to! Both my kids have celiac disease. My son went through 2 negative biopsies and inconclusive bloodwork before we found out that the tests are often inconclusive under 5. We put him on a diet trial and his has improved dramatically. His D was gone after 3 weeks and his growth has taken off. He's healthy...
  16. Taffy, Thanks for the tips. I had finally got into the gluten free baking groove and now another curve ball! I'm going to try the things you mentioned. Which one would you recommend as the best for baking gluten-free bread? I'm sure different subs work best with different foods. Good for you for sticking to breast feeding. I know how hard it is,...
  17. My son's symptoms started with his weight falling off, tooth enamel defects, and mushy poops, which turned into diarrhea 6+ times per day. The bad news is that he had 2 negative biopsies and inconclusive bloodwork before we realized the tests for kids under 5 are very inconclusive. We did the gene test and he has both the DQ2 and DQ8 genes for celiac....
  18. too much egg in a bread can make it kinda hard and dry. Might have been your problem...
  19. I called in Dec. and was told the particular lubriderm lotion I have is gluten free. You may just need to call to confirm.
  20. There was a mom on here a while back that figured out her son was getting glutened by the glue on the paper towel roll. that made me realize it can be ANYWHERE!!!! My daughter seems to be even more sensitive the more we are on the diet. I thought we were 100% gluten-free utnil I found out that log cabin syrup had been reformulated and now contained gluten...
  21. I talked to a lady who lives near me who has the same issue. She was diagnosed as a child and doesn't have the gene, but her daughter has celiac and they have the same symptoms. I guess y'all fall in that 5%. Listen to your body!
  22. Those PB cookies are a staple at my house, except I use splenda. Jam/jelly wouldn't work because my husband is diabetic. Jarod would be very upset if he couldn't eat them too! which sub. would you recommend in those?
  23. Well, I got a call friday afternoon right before heading out the door to make the trek to the in-laws. Megan's RAST test showed a slight allergy to milk and eggs. I am breast feeding, so I have to alter my diet. I was dairy/casien free for a few months, but I added it back to my diet and she showed no changes, so I thought she was over it. I had no idea...
  24. The freestyle rocks!!!! You don't have to do fingers with it either.
