  1. Beware that if you haven't been eating at least the equivalent of 4 slices of bread a day for the last 3 months, it may skew your tests. Just a thought.
  2. I used to skate also, and other athletic things when I was little. I started getting horrible vericose veins when I was 16 (the huge, ugly, blue, bumpy ones) and I attributed it to being overweight. I didn't know vitamins or minerals had anything to do with them. If it is a low mineral thing, that would explain why they keep getting worse. Sorry I'm not more...
  3. Rice dream is NOT ok for Celiacs. NO amount of gluten is safe, and most will react even to that tiny amount.
  4. Is she going to have testing at that appointment? Blood? Biopsy? Either way, eating gluten for a week before isn't going to do anything. If you're doing testing, she has to be on wheat (and a lot of it) for 3 months.
  5. All flavors of Jelly Belly are gluten-free (the buttered toast flavor used to have gluten, but doesn't anymore, and that was the only one) Enjoy!
  6. I'm pretty sure A&W is.
  7. Ditto, it tastes like sunscreen.
  8. Good information, but how flippin' rude! HELLO, the only reason they are in business is because of customer loyalty. Bastards.
  9. I ask for Le Creuset stuff in lieu of jewelry. It's much more practical (and more fun for me) than jewelry!
  10. The krispy kreme burger (EEEEEEEEEWWWW) is not a new thing, it's been around at least a year. It's called the Luther Burger after Luther Vandross. Open Original Shared Link
  11. I get that too, it kind of feels like my hair is falling out or something (it's not, although I could stand to lose some). I also get a feeling like my shoes are too tight when they're not, like my toes are falling asleep. I don't know what the heck causes it, though for me it seems to happen more when I'm eating gluten. You're still VERY early into the...
  12. That would piss me off, gluten-free or not! So much for ending childhood obesity, eh? I would get the PTA together and lobby against that contract!
  13. Makes you wish you could be in the French health system, eh? At least you aren't in the states where you can see any doctor instantly, but you'll pay out the nose for it.
  14. Not a canadian, but I bet they'll all appreciate the info! Just wanted to say how I love Living Without, keep doing what you're doing! I love the recipes! In some ways, it's almost like a gluten-free, allergen-free Cooks Illustrated!
  15. Here's the recipe I worked out for it: HV Ranch mock up: 3 tbsp Buttermilk powder* (found with the other dry milk) at least 1 tsp garlic salt " " 1 tsp onion powder " " 1 tsp dried dill " " 1 tsp dried parsley " " 1/2 tsp lemon pepper I developed it for my chicken strip recipe that I used to make with crushed saltines and HV ranch powder. I...

  17. I'm also thinking that's why I've gained 10 lbs two weeks into my gluten challenge, and why I'm hungry ALL THE DAMN TIME!
  18. It's also a sign that food isn't being digested at all, if it's chewed but comes out looking like the chewed state. Any grown up celiac with a full set of teeth that's ever eaten a salad on a bad day can tell you that
  19. How wierd! I used to get those too! I get them on the sides of my fingers and on my palms. They'd itch, burst, and then peel. They never got red, though. They usually only happened in spring, so I figured I must be molting like a snake That's been going on since I was 10 or so. Wierd. I wish they would come back so I could have them looked at...
  20. That's true. From what I understand though, the Adidas deoderant uses cotton so it still has antiperspirant qualities. Like little miniature pads for your armpits
  21. My completely unsubstantiated assumption is that those of us who are celiac and overweight get the calories but not the nutrients when we eat. That's why we're still anemic, flattened villi, etc.
  22. Who makes it?
  23. With celiac, you're malnourished. You're not absorbing any food, so your body thinks its starving, ergo-massive appetite. It's very much a symptom of celiac, or at the very least malnutrition.
  24. Can someone tell my why dr's tell people with "IBS" with D to take fiber? In my experience, that's the last effing thing you want to do!
