ARCHIVED Favorite Make-up And Skin Care
penguin replied to lindalee's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the "warmth" that came in the kit as my blush. You only use a teeny tiny bit, and it looks great! It actually makes me look like I'm not an effing vampire! I can also get away with using "light" instead of "fairly light" if I want to look a bit less vampiry without it looking like I have makeup that's too dark on. It's extraordinarily forgiving... -
ARCHIVED Favorite Make-up And Skin Care
penguin replied to lindalee's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The thing about this thread is that it's about what works for everyone individually. We all have gluten problems and take that into consideration when using or even listing our products. I'm pretty sure none of us would like to see anyone else hurt. If you have ideas for what threads need to be started, go ahead and start them! And I don't think we should... -
I started getting constant panic attacks in college. I had broken up with my then boyfriend (now husband) and I went to him when I had them at night, and they scared him too. I was on anxiety meds for exactly a month. They worked, but made me feel so numb and inhuman that I didn't want to take them. I learned how to control them, I'm not really sure how....

ARCHIVED Maybe Hes Wrong
penguin replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree that some of the scare stats are total bs. Then again, if you're using mj before the age of 15, there are probably other forces at work there that are bigger than mj use. I should have mentioned this before, I used to smoke cigarettes, and at the time, most of my friends smoked both mj and cigarettes. Most of them started smoking cigarettes after... -
ARCHIVED Dear Pizza Hut.....i Hate You........
penguin replied to angel-jd1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I totally understand! I used to love Pizza Hut! You know when I stopped loving it? When in 10th grade biology I found out their nutritional information: Serving Weight: 250g Calories 630 Total Fat 27g That's for a regular cheese personal pan pizza. Totally turned me off of it! I've had Long John Silvers recently, because I thought the... -
ARCHIVED Well, Now I'm Really Confused!
penguin replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't really doubt that I have a gluten problem, my aim is to confirm celiac. My dr dx'ed it on dietary response and inconclusive bloodwork, but I'm not having that dx stand on my record without another opinion. Especially if I'll have insurance problems because of it. I know I have symptoms. My lips are breaking out...AGAIN. My joints are cracking and... -
ARCHIVED Maybe Hes Wrong
penguin replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Smoking pot causes cancer, too. I've seen it happen. The research goes both ways, but having seen the negative effects of long term cannabis use in my own family, I tend to lean toward the bad stuff. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link This seems most relevant to our situations: Open Original... -
I don't have D! At all! I got it once last week, and that was pretty horrible, because I had an accident in public. I've never had that happen! And it was green. Sorry, that was an overshare. I've gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks (this is NOT needed or appreciated weight) I seem to be functioning normally digestively, something I couldn't do in the last...

ARCHIVED Getting A Little Scared Now...
penguin replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad If you're going to persue testing, pack the immodium and do the best you can. Eat all of the gluten you can stand. I'm mid-challenge right now and I'm to the point of being afraid to drive. It's a lot easier to put up with it for a few more weeks than to be gluten-free for months and have to go back on gluten for another... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With Doctors Around Here
penguin replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with Tiffany. My doctor told me after I'd been gluten-free for a few months, "well, the gluten-free diet is so hard to follow in America." I said, well, yeah, but not really. One would think that dr's would do anything they could to get their patients to stop eating processed and fast food crap! The gluten-free diet is excellent in that regard! ... -
ARCHIVED Cellulites-has Anyone Had It? Dx Fri Am After High Fevers
penguin replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I hope you get better soon! I had cellulitis in March when I failed to metabolize mold spores from intradermal allergy testing. Luckily, I caught it really fast, because I woke up one morning with a pulsing bullseye on my arm Remember to try and eat some yogurt or something while you're on the antibiotics, those potent ones really do a number on your... -
ARCHIVED Maybe Hes Wrong
penguin replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
OK, Lister. I've said it before and I'll say it again...MJ can make you sick, too. All that anxiety BS you're dealing with? I assure you that the mj has at least SOMETHING to do with it. Seriously. Cronic use of mj causes all kinds of problems in your body. -
ARCHIVED Hidden Valley Ranch Mix
penguin replied to jams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I called the company they said that there are no gluten containing ingredients in the dry mix, but that either they don't test for gluten or they're run on the same lines as gluteny ones. They do clean between runs though, I've heard of people eating it with no problem. It's at your own risk, I guess. -
With the toothpaste, it probably wasn't gluten that got you. There are a lot of chemicals in toothpaste, especially whitening ones, and you probably reacted to something like that. Not all reactions are caused by gluten. Also, Ketel One vodka is gluten-free, even though it is made from 100% wheat. The distillation process doesn't allow for a huge protein...

Isn't it scary how some people eat that crap every day and never have the thought, "hmm. I wonder what white bread is made out of" Or even what white flour is made out of... "oh brave new world that has such people in it"

ARCHIVED Just Need Some Reforcement On This
penguin replied to Ashley's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My mom was supposed to get a tattoo with me, but she chickened out and put in the piercing clause instead. You can also pierce erm, the boobsie twins. I assure you, it's a very VERY painful way to rebel. Also, when you're at a mardi gras in college and you've been drinking and there are frat boys with video cameras...it's not such a great idea They... -

ARCHIVED Ds Ttg Was Very High...ped Just Called With Results
penguin replied to wolfie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Considering your son's ttg was what, 11 times above normal and TtG is the most specific celiac indicator...I would say that yeah, he's got celiac. -
ARCHIVED Wheat Free Orange Chicken?
penguin replied to Dianamiester's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here's a recipe from allrecipes.com, I modifed it to make it gluten-free, and it would work, but I haven't tried it. ARCHIVED Wheat Free Orange Chicken?

Did you use a recipe before or buy it pre-packaged? If it was a recipe, do you mind posting it? I'm sure we could convert it from there! -

I'm also a recent convert to the Bare Minerals foundation. It's really easy to vary coverage depending on what you need. Normally I use a light application, but for a wedding I was in, I did full coverage. Worked great!!! The bride even used some of the "warmth" on top of her foundation and it looked awesome! Gave her that "blushing bride" look... It... -
Eat more salt! My family has this problem all over the place (incedentally, we also all get bad charley horses and have low bp). Bananas, orange juice are good for leg cramps. For the blackout stuff, eat more salt. Drink a V8 or tomato juice, that'll help.

I haven't seen 3 or 4 in at least 3 years. Thanks for the info! But yeah, which ones are celiac-y?
-
HRm Box syas 3g fat, 8g Protien, and 23 carbs (7 of which are fiber). Yeah...that's an instance of where it varies for everybody. Plant based protein, for whatever reason, does not work for me. Especially oatmeal, but thinking back, that was probably due to celiac. Err Apples dont count? Tons of fruit sugar. I guess it does have...
