    ARCHIVED Lent

I had a well-timed dx, I'm so hardcore that I'm giving up gluten forever! Or, I could be more specific and say that I gave up bread. Or cake. Or cookies. Or communion wafers. Beatify THAT Pope Benedict XVI!!!!! erm, I hope lightning isn't in the forecast, cause I'm pretty sure that was blasphemy
  3. I always use Lipton Onion Soup mix, it's the only gluten-free soup Lipton has, I believe. It makes a great roast, and I've never had any problems. I bet putting some red wine in with it would give it an extra kick, I'll have to try it.

    ARCHIVED Soda?

Coca Cola products are, thank God, gluten-free.
  5. You didn't need it to be low-fat, right? This is the only thing my sister really knows how to make. Just kidding, not really. You can serve it with veggies and nut thins! This particular recipe was hijacked from allrecipes.com Hot Parmesan Artichoke Dip INGREDIENTS: 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/2 cup sour cream 1 cup grated Parmesan...
  6. You could do convention badges, and they can be pre-printed from what people provide when they register online (ie: names, dx date). Otherwise, people can buy registrations on-site if they don't preregister. I think there should be a fee, even if it's nominal, so that when people register you can be sure they'll actually go. If the convention provides lunch...
  7. My mom's landlord actually just bought leopard print couches. Not kidding. She bought them, on purpose, to go with her 70's nasty rust colored shag carpeting. Where does one go to find leopard print couches?! She doesn't have a pole though...yet
  8. Only my Gliadin IgG came back positive as well, but I had the complete panel. My IgA was a low as could be. My doc put me on the diet because of that and my anemia and whatnot to see if it worked. I told her about my reaction to CC exposure to gluten and she dx'ed me Celiac on the spot. All of your bloodwork looks a lot like mine, actually. My MCV was...
  9. We could always spraypaint it chrome... Nothing says "classy" like a spraypainted PVC pipe in the middle of your living room, eh? I'm going to have to get black leather couches, black laquered furniture, and lots of faux leapord to go with it!
  10. I eat Sour Patch Kids (basically kid-shaped sour coated swedish fish) by the same company without any problems. I read somewhere that they are gluten-free. Most gummy things are.
  11. They will if you ask them to. The guy at the B&J shop I was at yesterday went and even sterilized one.
  12. Wendy's has a gluten-free menu, and baked potatoes are on it! Open Original Shared Link Their chili is also gluten-free, some of their salads are safe. Make them change their gloves before handling your potato, though!
  13. Thanks! I made the worlds easiest fried rice on Monday and it put me in the mood for chinese! Questions: What brand of oyster sauce did you find that was gluten-free? Could you cheat further and use frozen broccoli? Looks awesome!
  14. sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry Sorry man, but I tried to help you
  15. Ack, you're having a baby! Congratulations! I'm so psyched for you!!! As far as IV drugs are concerned, I would bet money that they are gluten-free, because the only reason gluten is in meds is to hold it together, and I can't imagine them injecting whole gluten proteins into your arm. Just worry about the oral meds. And have someone bring you...
  16. They have a Mint Chocolate Chunk now that is excellent, and gluten-free
  17. That's awesome! But, darn my vaulted ceilings! How did you come across those?
  18. The UK Celiacs seem to think it's safe... Open Original Shared Link Here's a link to their Open Original Shared Link Hope that helps
  19. Yeah, I'm not doing that again! The nurse said that I didn't "metabolize the mold pollen" from the allergy testing and that's why the site got so infected (I was extremely allergic to that one). Although, I read that cellulitis is caused by a staph infection... Anyhoo, since I've been having the digesting glass pain all this week, the prednisone weight...
  20. Ouch! Sorry your insurance wouldn't cover it! My insurance covered all but $2 of it (I have really good insurance), but what you're being charged is about what my insurance got charged. Personally, I don't think the appointment would be worth it at this point. Your first flag is that his nurse said "celiac is a rare disease", which tells me they probably...
  21. Sorry I didn't mean to be mean... They have 4 flavors of sorbet though, and they all look gluten-free/cf (even egg free) to me! Berry Berry Extraordinary (aka Buried Treasure), Lemonade, Mango Lime, and Strawberry Kiwi Swirl
  22. Free cone day is coming! April 25th is the day that Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops give out a free scoop of ice cream, yum! You can go to their website Open Original Shared Link and see if you have one near you! They don't keep a listing of what flavors are gluten-free, but they do clearly label and don't hide gluteny ingredients. I went to a scoop...
  23. I've had more than one server say, "white bread isn't made from wheat, right?" I also had a server swear up and down that steamed rice (rice, water) had gluten. I, luckily, have not had many bad experiences. One funny one was at a McDonald's in BFE, Texas. I ordered a burger with everything on it except the bun, and went through the spiel...
  24. My allergist said that the BRAT diet was the one to follow if doing an elimination diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. So for us it would be a BRA diet. Ha. Anyway you eat that way for a week or two, and then add one food at a time, wait two days, then if you didn't react it's ok to add in regularly. Then add in another food, and so the process goes...
  25. 3 musketeers, peeps, and milky way midnight are all gluten-free (regular milky way is not) Hershey will always label gluten-containing ingredients Kisses are gluten-free, and so are reeses peanut butter cups It's very easy to get enough junk food on this diet
