  1. It's a lot like a toothache, you don't realize how much it hurts until it's gone... ...and then you do something dumb and it reminds you that, dangit that hurt!
  2. Put some flax meal into your cookies, it kind of mocks wheat/oats in texture. Also, it's a great source of omega-3's and fiber!
  3. I love seeing THEM bloated! That's the best way to eat them!
  4. Be safe, I'm jealous! Don't do anything I wouldn't do, and if you do, be sure to name it after me Jamaican rum is gluten-free, right
  5. Open Original Shared Link That's all I could find on their website...
  6. I wrote Six Flags Over Texas about what the heck I could eat at their park, and at least they got back to me fast. Here's the response I was sent: Dear Chelsea, Thank you for your letter. I wanted to let you know that we have several options for you. First, I would like to say I am sorry you were diagnosed with Celiac disease, I know how very hard...

  8. I have similar problems. My only regularity is that I always cramp first thing in the morning. I think my body's in a routine, because half the time, not a whole lot happens. Then I'll approach a normal bm and then have D the rest of the day. I think my body's trying My guess is that you'll straighten out once your body knows what to do with a...
  9. Were all but the ones stated in normal range?
  10. Last night I decided I wanted to make a quiche, and I found a recipe without a crust on allrecipes.com, but I won't list that here, because the finished product barely resembled the recipe! CRUSTLESS QUICHE 8 slices bacon 4 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese 2 tablespoons butter, melted 4 eggs, beaten 1/2 a chopped onion 1/2 white...
  11. My mom was supportive for the most part. We were in the same part of the country and she went shopping at Wild Oats with me. When I was being tested, she said, "but I read that you can get cancer and all of these other horrible things, you can't have that. Besides, it's genetic blah blah." And then she remembered my dad was adopted and we don't have a clue...
  12. I was just talking to a co-worker this morning and I said I had celiac and she said that her sister just put her autistic son on a gluten-free CF diet! I sent her the huge survival kit (thanks nini) to pass on to her sister, who is a bit overwhelmed, esp since her other child has downs
  13. That's one of the first things I noticed (well, that DH noticed ) I never had a temper until college, and then I would fly off the handle for no reason at all. I felt really out of control. Now I feel a lot more emotionally stable and normal. It's great!
  14. I personally reccommend In & Out burger (out of this world!) and El Pollo Loco
  15. After getting sick from their frozen stuff (it's a shame because the mac & cheese is really good!), I don't trust them. I make my own pasta sauce with 1 can sauce, 1 can crushed tomatoes, 1 tbsp italian seasoning, 1 tsp garlic salt, 1/2 a chopped onion, 3 cloves garlic, and 1 tsp brown sugar. Saute the onion & garlic in olive oil until soft...
  16. I was sad that I couldn't have pizza, because I made it every Friday. Now, I make the chebe pizza every Friday and it's REALLY GOOD!!! It helps me to maintain a sense of normalcy to have pizza and coke every week
  17. I had it happen once. It was in the middle of class and really gross and thank god I had kleenex! Don't know why it happens...
  18. I decided not to fast today, I was feeling too sick to do it. My blood sugar doesn't handle it well. Yeah, I forgot it's not a day of obligation. The communion thing is wigging me out, I'm going to have to talk to a priest about it. Thanks everybody!
  19. Not a problem, enjoy
  20. I haven't used it, but I've thumbed through The Wheat-Free, Gluten-Free Cookbook for Kids and Busy Adults and it looks like it has a lot of good, easy recipes in there. I saw it at my local barnes & noble. My kitchen is gluten-free (I haven't touched my canisters, I'm afraid to! I think I'll buy new ones), but DH has a dedicated glutened shelf where...
  21. Whey is dairy. When cheese is made, the curds are the cheese solid parts and the whey is what is left. Therefore, it's gluten free!
  22. I try to remember to use this: Open Original Shared Link But this looks way cooler Open Original Shared Link TRY is the word. I barely ever remember about envelopes I've got my fingers crossed that you don't get sick!

    ARCHIVED Quote Of The Day

Today's quotes are: "Today's scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality." - Nikola Tesla "If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done...
  24. I don't really have an answer for you either, though I flush far too easily, and my ears get hot a lot! (people can't be talking about me all the time ) Once or twice (literally) I've woken up in the morning unbelieveably hot. Like, nothing could make it better, it just had to resolve itself. Never found out why, though. Thyroid is fine on me...
  25. DITTO! My mom keeps telling me to stop self diagnosing. But the Dr put me on this diet to begin with? And officially dx'ed me last week? I guess my doctor was a mirage... Are complex hallucinations a sign of Celiac?
