  3. Check this out: Open Original Shared Link I wonder if there's any way to get a recipe....
  4. Wonderful news, Susan! Can you maybe post it as your avatar so we can all ooh and ah and enjoy it????? What if a Lyme-disease-carrying tick bites a cow? Would it get Lyme disease--or Mad Cow disease?
  5. This is from the emedicinehealth.com website: Infected adult cattle may develop signs of the disease slowly. It may take from 2 to 8 years from the time an animal becomes infected until it first shows signs of disease. Symptoms in the animal include a change in attitude and behavior, gradual uncoordinated movements, trouble standing and walking, weight loss...
  6. Okay, then, I'm guessing that they were calling it, "idoepathic," which is the word doctors use when they don't have a clue what is causing the problem. You might notice that most of us have more than one autoimmune disorder, and that most of the doctors could not figure out what was causing these problems, and either called them, "ideopathic," or worse...
  7. bmzob, I'm familiar with the term, "idiopathic," but not "audiopathic." What is "audiopathic?"
  8. I'd bet that your ulcerative colitis is actually your celiac symptoms--you're just masking it with the medication, but the damage to your villi will continue despite the medication unless you don't cheat
  9. I had been told that my IgG will always be elevated, even after being gluten-free for extended periods--but it shouldn't be through the roof like when you're eating gluten. I was also told that my thyroid antibodies will always be elevated, even though my Hashimoto's is supposedly under control with Synthroid. At any rate, that's what I'd been told--whether...
  10. I would cook the ground meat first before wrapping it in the rice wrappers--they might not stay together long enough to cook the ground meat in the soup, even with the egg and cornstarch (which helps keep it together and gets it nice and crisp when frying).
  11. If you're looking for a short, snappy title, how about "Ticked Off?" (Sorry, my underliner won't work>)
  12. EWWWWW!!!!! Theory: maybe there is something in our blood, courtesy of our gluten intolerance, that kills ticks? Then they fall off and we never see them? (It must be really late, I'm babbling like an idiot here....)
  13. I'm no good with coffee, either.
  14. Good points--I was wondering if JudyinPhilly's cellulitis might have actually been a tick bite that got infected and/or misdiagnosed. I had cellulitis about 18 years ago, and at the time, I ASKED the doctor if it could be Lyme disease, and she said no, it wasn't a "real" bulls-eye rash, but who knows? Although I haven't had the joint pain or exhaustion...
  15. I got compulsive about getting the kids outside when my oldest was 2. I make them go out and run around EVERY DAY. If it's raining, we put on rain gear and have an umbrella parade or go puddle stomping. If it's snowing, well, at least that's easy! I'm bad though--I don't let them watch TV or play on the computer Monday--Friday, but here I am on the...
  16. You could make wontons out of rice paper wrappers--fill them, fold them. dip them beaten egg, then cornstarch, then fry in a little oil. Put them in your soup at the last possible moment!
  17. Way to go!!! (literally )
  18. It's the only thing that works for me right now! I'd be very interested if your doctor recommends some kind of weaning off schedule? Could you please let me know if he does? I tried going from Nexium to Zantac, thinking I could then wean off the Zantac (which used to work for me but doesn't now), but it didn't work.
  19. I'd love to parachute in more often, but somehow I just can't manage to get all the household/pt/exercise/practice/feedthekids/helpthekidswiththeirhomeworkandgetthemtobedontime done!!! The house is a wreck, I let the laundry pile up and the washing machine is now begging for mercy. How do you manage and homeschool at the same time????? Hope the kids...
  20. Bev, I'm just parachuting in here, I've missed most of the last 30-40 pages, just skimmed a few entries, and found your latest one. I am so shocked and horrified at all you've been through--and I couldn't figure out (my brain must be fogged)--what was the root cause of all those problems? You mentioned your apartment--was it mold?
  21. Maybe I have brain fog here--I couldn't figure out from the article--did ALL patients in the study go off gluten, or only the three who improved?
  22. Hi, sissy, welcome! I can't think of anything that the above posts haven't covered--they're all giving your really good advice! I just wanted to welcome you and let you know that yes, I made tons of mistakes (still forget to read labels every now and then), and this is a great place to come to for ideas, recipes, restaurant reviews, etc. Hang in there...
  23. You want to be "scared straight?" Look up a few members of this board: Ursula, Canadian Karen, Armetta, JudyinPhilly, Nini. There are many others like these who kept eating gluten because the doctors they saw were too stupid to make the connection between their symptoms and gluten. When you continue to ingest something that is toxic to your body...
