ARCHIVED Anybody From Eastern Ohio , Western Pa Area?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Trish2006's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm in Pittsburgh, but this board is as close to a support group/conference as I can get (not enough time!)! You guys will just have to tell me all about the Columbus conference! -
I'm just double-checking here--you did mean, "gluten-free wheat-free bread," right?

Maybe you could make some $$ off of this, too--it sounds like a terrific screenplay for a TV series ("Neighbors?")! What Mister Rogers never dreamed of... -

[[[[[[[HUGS]]]]]]] Do you like "Gone With The Wind?" In the words of the immortal Scarlett O'Hara (Harlot O'Scara?), "Tomorrow is another day!" (And you have your own beloved Ashley, too!) -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With gluten-free Bread Options

I've had good luck with Gluten-Free Pantry's bread mix, but I'm so disgusted with the prices of the mixes , I will only make bread from scratch (from GLuten-Free Baking Classics) unless there is a terrific sale on the bread mixes! -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With gluten-free Bread Options
Fiddle-Faddle replied to kimber's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are some EXCELLENT bread recipes in GLuten-Free Baking Classis by Annalise Roberts. They all need about 30-40 minutes to rise, and then 40-50 minutes to bake, and they are all batter breads with yeast. They don't work in the bread machine, but they are worth it--they are better than any of the decent bread machine mixes I've tried. My gluten-eating... -
ARCHIVED Sensory Integration Dysfunction And Gluten Intolerance
Fiddle-Faddle replied to wonkabar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
For what it's worth, my experience was that I basically home-schooled my son in addition to his going to school. Part of this is just because of the nature of our school district. For some reason, they thought that children would learn multiplication better if they threw out the old multiplication tables and made them do "mad minutes" instead. My... -
So with the spice mix--are you allergic to all those spices, or only the combination? (Did they test for individual spices?) It just seems kind of odd to me, because those spices aren't necessarily related, are they? Ginger is a rhizome, but cloves aren't.

Kendra, have you been tested for celiac? Or have you tried going off gluten? I had a lot of your same symptoms, even with synthroid for Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and I couldn even begin to control my weight with diet and exercise--but I dropped 20 pounds without even trying when I went off gluten! I had plenty of carbs (potatos and rice), but I didn't eat...

Ketchup could go either way. He might be intolerant to it--but more likely, he's just a normal kid. Most kids would eat ANYTHING if you let them dip itin ketchup first! I just wanted to add a suggestion on the PDD. A colleague of mine had a brilliant idea on how to help her son, who had been diagnosed with PDD and apraxia of speech. For babysitters... -

There could be many things going on here simultaneously. The lump and the goo might be a cyst. With fibrocystic breast disease, there can be lumps, and various shades of goo depending on whether the lump is in a milk duct, or if there's an infection, etc. Many people on this site (but by no means a majority) are either allergic or hypersensitive to... -
If the doctors can't be bothered to talk directly to the patients the day their blood tests come in, then they need to hire authorize someone (who can spell) to at least read the numbers over the phone. My endocrinologist's office assistants are very nice about reading my thyroid #'s to me when ask if I can have them for my own home records.

Wow. Sounds amazing. Thanks! Oh--what about transitioning from an Aspie school to college? Is there any literature about if these kids have an easier time? Or who knows, maybe a harder time? -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed Celiac, Why Am I Nauseated All The Time?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to hafadai43's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Nausea's the pits, isn't it? Everyone else has posted great advice, and I'm sure you would know if you were pregnant, but just in case--it IS possible to get pregnant immediately after giving birth, even if you are breastfeeding. My sister-in-law is exactly 10 months older than her sister, who was full-term. And my neighbor thought that she couldn... -
(Sigh) I guess I am getting too jaded to laugh at this one. If I were you, I would print out a copy of what you had to go through with this ignorant assistant, have your doctor read it at your next appointment, and very politely request that you not be treated like thatby his assistant again. You can be sure HE wouldn't sit around patiently for...

I didn't know that there was a school just for Aspies! (Boy, wouldn't that be a teacher's dream job? No rule breaking!!! ) My #1 son, too, is a major rule follower. He is just beginning to see the grey areas, though. His cousins, whom he adores, have some of the same sibling issues as my my #1 son (rule follower) and my #2 son (rule breaker). My... -

Celery is so good for you, you might try cutting it in half lengthwise and then slicing it paper-thin (need a sharp knife for that). (I dislike celery chunks, too!) -
ARCHIVED Where To Buy 'green' Household Items
Fiddle-Faddle replied to floridanative's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Target sells a line of cleaners called "method." They're supposed to be naturally-derived surfactants, essential oils, etc. I use a spray cleaner that smells like grapefruit. I agree with you about dryer sheets--ugh. I compromise--I use a small amount (1/4 capful) of liquid fabric softener, but I put it in in the beginning of the cycle, so most of... -

Aww, Nantzie, sorry you're having such a frustrating day. Have you tried Penguin's Ranch Chicken Strips? They are fantastic, taste like restaurant chicken strips, and they're easy!!!! I used Potato Buds, they were awesome. You can also make fish sticks out of tilapia (just cut the fillets in half). I bet you could use this on cheese sticks and zucchini... -
