  1. I just tried to pm her, and her mailbox is either full or disabled. She and Gina got into a disagreement about traditional vs. non-traditional medicine. They both had valid points of view, but expressed themselves quite differently. IMHO, Gina was getting quite abusive, but I thought tailZ was just defending herself. Very strange.
  2. How about brain exercises? Seriously--go to your bookstore and find one of those workbooks for elementary school kids that has you matching shapes, doing mazes, reading 1-page stories and answering questions, etc. I was shocked how challenging I found them when I got some for my (gulp) 7-year-old (blush)! There are also a bunch of websites--www...
  3. I hesitate to speak for Doll, but it seemed apparent to me that she is assuming intestinal damage based on the antibodies. So it would seem that you have at least similar definitions, if not the same.
  4. You're doing pretty much the same things I did--go to the doctor, get nervous, fall apart when the baby cries, etc. Did you ever find out why he cried?
  5. Hi, Susan, Hang in there. You're just experiencing a temporary setback. You're not out of road, you just need to either find a new path or fix the old road. It takes time, but you are obviously extremely bright--you'll find a way. If it makes you feel any better, I remember staying up on New Year's Eve of 1989-1990, sobbing my eyes out to my mom...
  6. Could something else be factoring into the equation with the gluten, making you feel worse? Are you pregnant? I only figured out this year (after one blood test and then coming on this board) that the horrible non-stop nausea and vomiting during my pregnancies had less to do with hormones and more to do with the fact that I kept trying to eat crackers like...
  7. Evie, I'm glad you're okay--(may I recommend swimming as an excellent non-impact exercise when you are feeling better, of course)? Susan, I parachute in here too infrequently--haven't seen you posting recently. How are you doing?
  8. Absolutely right. Even if it turns out that you really don't need meds, you want to wean off of them in a very controlled way with your doctor's knowledge. Meds like these cannot be played around with in the way that people in our country play around with over-the-counter meds (which are bad enough)! I was wondering how many people who NEVER drink caffeine...
  9. Prayer said! If it helps any, we were told this year that our son (who had open-heart surgery at 9 years ago) that he now has a dilated aorta and mitral valve prolapse. This was told to us by the doctor who replaced the cardiologist who had taken care of him since he was 7 weeks old. We went back to the old cardiologist (who had moved 2 hours away...
  10. And all this time, I 'd thought I was feeding my family healthy food . We eat fish 2-3 times per week, but with 5 big eaters, we could never afford wild salmon. I've been either going to Sam's Club or down to the strip. My shoulder is improving, thanks for asking Shoulders are ridiculously slow to rehab (they say not to expect full range of motion...
  11. Why would farm raised be bad for your health?
  12. Wegman's supermarket has lots of gluten-free stuff, tooo, and there is one in State College (we were just there a couple of weeks ago!) Have fun!
  13. How would you classify me? The only positive bloodwork I had was an extremely high IgG. All other tests were normal, including the biopsy on my DH-type rash--though all the testing was done a month after a 10-day course of prednisone, so I don't know how any of the tests would be affected. (I had also been mostly gluten-free for about amonth.) I have...
  14. Sorry, I wouldn't try a "Sleep Medicine" even if you paid me.
  15. I made them and they were absolutely fanstastic without chilling the dough first!
  16. I pretty much agree with you--BUT you WERE exposed to gluten if your mom ate it when you were nursing (unless she was already gluten-free). Also, some brands of baby rice cereal used to contain wheat starch, as did most jarred baby foods. Also--did your mom wean you to cow's milk or to formula? Many moms wean their babies to formula. I...
  17. Oh, I don't avoid the packet because of gluten. I make my own because it's much cheaper, and I want to avoid the MSG and all that salt. $4 worth of dill, parsley, garlic powder, and onion powder (I buy my spices at the dollar store) and I can make about 50 packets!
  18. I was all set to go out and get some oats--until I read this: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-10106497687.9c
  19. I don't know as much as I ought to about the laws of Kashrut, but I think they are in Leviticus. Here is a link that explains in great detail: Open Original Shared Link
  20. Thanks, Penguin--that's what we'll have for dinner tomorrow night!
  21. First of all, it's "proselytizing," not "protheletizing." Second of all, I don't even think it's debatable: she was NOT trying to convert anybody (which, as Ursula pointed out, is the definition of proselytizing). Third of all, why would admin send you a PM about warning tailZ when you're the one jumping down throats here? We may not all agree on what...
  22. Traditional medicine espoused 26 mercury-containing vaccines by the age of 18 months. Traditional medicine injected vaccines for hepatitis into my 4 hour-old sons, even though they were at zero risk for hepatitis. This was following the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics (which also recommended the Rotavirus Vaccine). Traditional medicine...
  23. Oh, man, I tend to just throw it in a bowl without measuring! I definitely use more garlic powder than onion powder (maybe twice as much garlic compared to the onion), and if I'm adding it to mayo for ranch dressing, I don't add any extra salt, as the mayo already has salt. I just throw in enough parsley and dill to make it look nicely speckled. Next...
  24. I didn't get that impressioni at all, and I just went back to page 1! Tailz is asking questionis and looking at possibilities. She is also (as so many of us have) dealing with doctors who don't believe that she has a problem with gluten. We have enough trouble with the doctors who think they know everything Can't we wonder about possibilities without...
  25. Clue me in, will you? Why is Quaker evil? (Really, I haven't heard about this yet!)
