  1. Wow, that looks good! It says free shipping on orders over $39! Has anyone tried their cookies? Is it $2.49 PER COOKIE? That's kinda pricey, even with free shipping. The bread looks really good, though.
  2. Actually, for my bone spurs, they did not use corticosteroids. They used acetic acid (vinegar!) and ultrasound. I smelled like a salad, but it worked!
  3. Yeah, really hard to diagnose. I have "diagnosed" 4 friends/acquaintances in the last 6 months. 3 had bloodwork that proved celiac. 1 had a good dietary response. Actually, all of them had good dietary response. And I don't have an MD after my name!
  4. You might look into something called "iontophoresis" for helping the body resorb the bone spur--I've had that done for a bone spur on my shoulder (the other, supposedly "good" shoulder) that otherwise might have needed surgery. Physical therapists administer iontophoresis. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  5. Oh, yeah, that reminds me of the orthopedist who patted me on the head and said I'd be fine, he didn't need any additional tests, he knew what was wrong, I had dislocated me shoulder. (Um, yeah, I already knew that, and the ER doc had put it back in place the week before and told me to follow up with an orthopedist to rule out tissue damage.) He said I should...
  6. It just occurred to me--we should each print out a copy of this thread and bring it to every doctor we know....
  7. I'm one of the lucky ones. After 20 years of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I developed a terrible rash (most likely DH). I googled "thyroid and rash" and found thousands of hits about celiac. The first ones were from this very board. This board literally saved me from the kind of suffering you guys went through. However, the dermatologist laughed at me...
  8. A lot of women end up with tendinitis or even a tear of the supraspinatus tendon of the shoulder (torn rotator cuff). We do lots of stretching and lifting, and our bodies aren't set up for strength, and most of us don't do anything to strengthen our shoulders, nor do we know what positions and stretches can make things worse. And things like Pilates and...
  9. Might adoption be a possibility for you?
  10. I'm a violinist!
  11. Could the bad taste in your mouth come from mercury amalgams (the silver-colored fillings)? They can leak mercury, which is a horrible toxin, and can cause all kinds of bad things in your body, including (drum roll) gluten intolerance. Another possibility is that the bad taste is acid reflux--which might improve on a gluten-free diet, but also might be...
  12. There are 2 cookbooks worth buying just for their bread recipes. One is Roben Ryberg's The GLuten-Free Kitchen, and the other is ANnaliese Roberts' Gluten-Free Baking Classics. The first one has a surprisingly good butttermilk bread recipe that calls for only potato starch, tapioca starch, xanthan gum, and some other "normal" ingredients. The second...
  13. YOur pediatrician ought to be able to write you a scrip to take to any lab and get blood drawn for a titre. Insurance OUGHT to cover a titre, and you can call the insurance company and point out to them that they would be liable to cover treatment for any autoimmune disorder caused by a vaccine (which they would also have to pay for)! And if you provide...
  14. He can have a gluten-free version of what everyone else eats. If you make it from scratch, it will taste every bit as good as the gluteny version. If you need a recipe for his favorites, post a thread on the recipes section of this board, and you'll get tons of answers! BTW, constipation is a common symptom of celiac. Your doctors should have caught...
  15. I also have a mouthful of fillings--but I love cilantro, sometimes even crave it. And I have the gluten sensitivity/celiac (don't know which) while my husband, who doesn't (that we know of) hates cilantro. ???? ??? Where do we fit in?
  16. www.nvic.org is also good for vaccine info. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, the measles-only vaccine is preserved with thimerosal. If your child has not been tested for celiac AND has intestinal issues, how do you know she does not have celiac? Especially if you do, it sounds pretty likely that she might. And dairy issues are common for celiacs, as...
  17. I'm sorry, momandgirls, but the adjuvants in many vaccines HAVE been linked with autoimmune disorders. See www.nvic.org, www.mercola.com, and Open Original Shared Link The reason to spread out vaccines is because there is no research telling us that multiple vaccines are safe--and there are indications that they are not, such as the Wakefield study...
  18. I think it is irrelevant whether or not HE has ever seen damage at that young an age. Even if there is NO visible damage to the villi, if gluten is the problem, it can be inducing the immune system to attack anything else in the body, including the developing brain. Also, there can clearly be problems with absorbing nutrients, even if villi damage is...
  19. My opinion differs from the above posters'. I don't think it's a difficult decision, at least, not at this point. A biopsy on a 13-month-old will have a very good chance of being negative, regardless of whether the baby actually has celiac. There is a high false-negative rate to begin with, plus the child's diet has been low-gluten, so the chance of...
  20. I've not seen any affordable ones, at least, not yet, but I'm sure things will keep improving. Hey, if you can come up with a successful recipe and a plant to produce frozen ones, you will be a millionaire! In the meantime, you can make do with past recipes that have the same ingredients as ravioli: rice pasta shells, tomato sauce, ricotta cheese, spinach...
  21. Looks yummy! Do you dump it into one pan, or do you make individual biscuits out of it?
  22. If you don't have time to make eggs in the morning, make them the night before! Seriously, you can boil a whole bunch of eggs, peel them, wrap them in plastic, and put them in the fridge. Rachael Ray has a great idiot-proof method for boiling eggs: put in pot, cover with cold water, bring to a boil--and then turn OFF the heat, and cover tightly for 1...
  23. You have much to be angry, no, furious about. And it sounds like your friend's doctors are just as clueless as yours. They might care more than yours did, but they don't seem to have any idea that your friend's child might have celiac disease. If your son's symptoms are improving on the gluten-free diet, you shouldn't be angry with yourself--my goodness...
  24. If gluten is what is causing your problems, you need to stop eating it NOW and never look back. Otherwise, you put your unborn baby at major risk, as gluten intolerance can cause many serious problems in pregnancy, such as hyperemesis, toxemia (aka pre-eclampsia), diabetes, thyroid problems, and Intra Uterine Growth Restriction, any of which can end a pregnancy...
  25. Yes, we make these all the time. I don't have a problem with rice flour, but this recipe works well, so we use it. I've made it using 3/4 cup brown rice flour mix and 1/2 cup cornstarch, and that works, too.
