loco-ladi replied to glutenfreechick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
well, heres a small start for help "shopping" Start with the basics, I mean very basic.... meat & veggie meals... (watch the spices and sauces many have gluten added) I am not saying throw everything out now, much may be useable but you need to get comfortable with the diet for a bit then branch out a little at a time. And DO NOT throw out your... -
I try to do a plant with special meaning... I recently gave a peace lily to my friend when she tragically lost her husband. she loves flowers and the name and type fit the occation. With people not as close food is typical but does pose dangers I have tried to get away from but thinking of something nonfood to give instead. Others feel uncomfortable...
-
To get to the nearest "health food" store, I have to travel 60 miles currently, they do NOT have any selection worth looking at, I have on multiple occations mentioned my concern.... they have been ignored. I am NOT the only celiac/gluten intolerant person in the area and if I had the time and money I would open a health food store worth having an open sign...

OK, long story short version.... I sold my house (gotta be outta here the 15th of next month) Found the MOST beautiful house I have ever seen and the bank said if you want it then you can have it! Here is the problem.... Its completely surrounded by "pivots" and generally they grow wheat in the corners.... so.... I don't "think" it will be...

I guess I am lucky, sort of, when I get on my train I wipe EVERYTHING down with bleach wipes, you have NO idea how some of the other engineers slobber their food! I also carry my own cooler with all my food either in it or in my "carry on bag" I let my conductor have the little worthless fridge all to themself! When I get to "the other end of the road...

I had a female conductor a few weeks ago whose son had been telling her for a couple years about his, she was the "its all in his head" type of mentality, until she offered me a cookie.... I refused saying sorry I cant I have food allergies, she replied, oh its ok there's no peanuts in these, my response.... thats great but I can eat peanuts its the gluten...

So I finally get in to see the dr and inform him I did not take his little purple miricle pills and instead went 100% on a gluten free diet and amazingly all my prior symptoms are gone, so I now want a blood test or list of vitamins/herbs/minerals I should be taking to avert any malnutrition issues from not eating gluten/wheat his response.... I have a... -

I missed my "regular" comfort food when I first started and would drop off the wagon, however for most of this year I have been 100% gluten-free I didnt change my diet so much as I changed my state of mind. Rather than binge on something I miss I spend hours looking for a great tasting gluten-free version... I am currently working on breads and crackers...

loco-ladi replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I decided last night was "the night" to teach my hubby a valuble lesson in my life...... From the beginning he has been suportive... He is the first to remind the wairtress that I did specify NO CROUTONS on my salad and basically making the really foolish ones feel even more foolish, keeping his gluten filled products in his own fridge in the garage and... -

I was diag'ed with tendonitis at age 19 and always assumed my wrist problems were resulting in that, I did notice however if I ate foods high in salt the swelling numbness etc would multiply greatly (still does) The last couple months my "wrist...
