ARCHIVED Becoming A "celiac Educator"
loco-ladi replied to lonewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
your post kinda reminds me of a "Dietician" I spoke to one from the local hospital at the begining of my "ordeal to overcome the medical world" she didnt have a clue about Celiac itself but helped sort out the list of stuff that made me sick down to "at least 50% of them had gluten" -

This is one of my fav's have it at least 1 time per week If you go "off gluten" prior to a possible blood test he/she may or may not run... you may get a false negative as you wouldnt have gluten in your system You dont absorb gluten thru your skin (some do have a wheat allergy that wheat bothers the skin) its... -

loco-ladi replied to wowzer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, I wouldn't be so nice about it.... Ask him what kind of example is he setting for the kids! If you or he expects them to eat the gluten-free items then by golly so should he! The biggest turning point for my hubby was when he accidently glutened me with a kiss, since that day he has been super! He actually looks out for me more than I do at... -

Way back in my teens when I was grossly underweight (and not by choice) I had a doctor tell me the "gain weight diet" was to eat an ice cream cone every day...... ARCHIVED Dont Count Out The "little Guys"
loco-ladi posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My local "grocery chain" is safeway, cant say as I ever liked how it was controlled by the "main office" and since going gluten-free my opinion has gone downhill. I had mentioned before "could you please carry this product?" the managers answer "sorry ma'am the "main office" decides what products we carry" After becoming a gluten-free shopper I started... -

loco-ladi replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I live in the midwest, for the most part we grow corn (for ethanol and consumption for cattle), wheat, potato, sugar beets and sunflowers (birdfood) in my area. 90% or more of the potato's are bought by a chip company. The sugar beets are sent to the local sugar factory. The remainder is all harvested pretty much by the same machines. The most common... -
