  1. I can't see birth control being a problem somehow Also I think that the UK has much stricter rules on suppliments than the US.... not perfect, they are not regulated like pharmacutical drugs but neither are they classed as "food"....
  2. jkmunchkin: Im not offended and as others say, its amazing that in the UK we have a Royaly sponsored society for animals and a national one for children.... however for me the issue is more practical than that... Celiacs already get a bad press.... you can make jokes about celiacs that would be considered poor taste or even worse of the subject was ethnicity...
  3. It depends where you are.... Its my understanding that NZ is zero gluten and the UK is low gluten... the same bottle will be OK in the UK and not in NZ... The technical reasons behind this are rather long and complex.... The bottom line is each distillation is unique... the chance of getting any gluten or gliadins is pretty small? but present. You...
  4. OK, give me a hint then..... I really got no idea about college football (or any football for that matter) and still ain't got it... (or just tell me....) edits... sorry by pm of course!
  5. erm, that one has an inacurate clue..... if I remember.... but perhaps its just the accent?
  6. Erm tried this in the morning and got to level 12 in 5 mins (then I checked and it was actually 1 1/2 hrs) and still stuck at level 12... the forum seems to suggest its something to do with college football or something so my interest suddenly stopped...
  7. Much as I agree about feeding pets grain based diets its not the gluten "killing pets" but the melamine Open Original Shared Link
  8. tarnalberry has said what I was planning on saying.... Its not being gluten-free that prevents you socialising.... If you truly are 100% gluten-free, not sharing a kitchen and utensils with others then there may well be something overlooked. However you really got to make sure its not some CC... when I first tried to go gluten-free I bought a lot...
  9. Great idea, I can't really fit into the poll boxes though. I'm not sure how typical or atypical I was but .... Initially after diagnosis I was determined it wasn't going to affect my life, I would definately be one of those able to eat oats and stuff. My job meant eating out often and even when not the place I work had a resto which I paid for whether...
  10. Isn't the issue that they share production lines? This basically means you can't quantify the risk... it depends what other runs they are doing so its going to vary batch to batch.
  11. Sorry just back from a meal and pub so I'll answer tomorrow (promise)
  12. starsweet: Im not sure gluten intolerance can be temporary ... rather wheat intolerance...this is expalined as best I can below. weightloss (and gain) are not fixed... some people do one and others the other... Non of the celiac/gluten tests will work unless you are eating it over an extended period. This is because it takes time for the body to develop...
  13. Absolutely, grin .... It would be fantastic.... Public awareness or lack of is the #1 barrier for most of us. If you travel to Italy it becomes clear why.... You can be in the back of beyond and some resto is the only place to eat.... you approach curiously, practicing your Italian ready to give in... you mumble a few words then the waiter...
  14. Overall I think most Westerners eat too much meat... and once a day is more than adequate, what you need to be careful of is switching too quickly since you'll suddenly be increasing your fibre intake ... and probably have a bit more gas until your body adjustes. Like riceman says ... try and vary your legumes intake because you are not getting whole proteins...
  15. In reality you probably had celiac disease for a long time before it started expressing itself in other ways ... and the depression might just have been the forst warning shot?
  16. How many celiacs does it take to change a lightbulb? 203 One to read the label One to phone the company One to check the lists and 200 to discuss it
  17. I think people are just trying to give you examples ... frankly you should be hoping you have DH... because its dead easy to cure ... no drugs or steroids etc. just a diet that starts off sounding hard and scary but really isn't. Your other intolerances might or might not be independent of gluten.... Lots of people, me included react to other things...
  18. I think your right.... you don't owe them an explanation... if you already foiund another job just say you got offered a job with more possibilities if asked or just say you were ready for a change... both of the cases I said above were patently illegal... (in the country I was in at the time)... Like you I'm in a small industry (well I was) and word...
  19. its just cheap, a filler that also allows them to up the protein content?
  20. So far as I have seen there is no consistent definition between celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Some MD's take one definition and others don't differentiate... indeed the most serious researchers don't seem to differentiate at all. For every definition you find that says one is A and the other B you'll find another conflicting or unrelated definition...
  21. My cat never liked to go in the house anyway... but sometimes he had to be locked inside for his vets appointment etc. butthe main thing just seemed to be he didn't like completely new litter ... you don't really need much obviously cats sense of smell is a lot better than ours but we used to mix in a bit of soil (which mostly was sandy) where he'd already...
  22. I usually just make my own... as I need it.
  23. Unless I'm missing something why does being small matter? Great if she starts growing but if not what would it matter... If its indicating not being 100% gluten-free then its one thing, if there are other complications its masking another but being taller/heavier just to fit into a statistical percentile seems pointless.
  24. I dunno, I just find it embarassing and I don't like it when people afterwards disagree over the bill. I dunno in some ways its a "normal reaction", my gluten-free is bilingual but doesn't like doing translation. but I think the main thing is I have to go a place I don't like or more accurately I think I have to pass a place I don't like. When...
  25. hate to say I told you so ..usually but in this case it seems to have worked out rather well.
