  1. Welcome. I am not an expert, but I do know that being off gluten can effect your test results. However, since you said that you had asthma while eating gluten, I'm not sure that it would be a good idea to eat gluten again. Obviously, you are improving since going gluten-free, so to me, that's showing that you do have a problem with gluten. If a diagnosis...
  2. Thanks everyone. Y'all confirmed what I knew in my heart was the right thing. So, before we go to the restaurant, I'll give him a brief explination of my intolerances (but I'll leave out some of the more persoonal details about what it causes). I'm still kind of nervous, but I know that if he reacts poorly, then he's not worth my time.
  3. The news can't get any better than that!!!
  4. Welcome!! As Leah said, everyone here is really nice, so don't be afraid to ask questions. There are plenty of people here who are in the process of getting a diagnosis, so you are not alone. Good luck with everything. Danielle
  5. Okay, so I'm not exactly a teen (I'm 21), but I need the help of teens. Basically, I have not gone on a date since my diagnosis. A family friend has set me up with her son (I have seen him multiple times over the years since our brother's have been best friends for 13 yrs. I even went to his first wedding ), and I don't know what to tell him. We will be...
  6. I always bring my own packets of Annie's dressing. Also, make sure that you request that your salad be tossed in a clean bowl with clean tongs. This is because many restaurants toss all of the salads in the same bowl, so you could get cruton crumbs mixed into your salad.
  7. I hate mean people Just this week, I dropped to 100 lbs (at just under 5'9"), so I know how you feel. I'm so sorry that people are mean to you.
  8. I don't really have any info, but I wanted to share that going gluten-free has really helped my anxiety and OCD issues.
  9. Thanks everyone!!!! I am going to try everything that was suggested to see what I like best. Danielle
  10. Thanks for the advice so far. I am going to give the info to my cousin when I see her next Friday.
  11. Some time ago, I saw a recipe posted for flour tortillas made out of gluten-free flours. I printed the recipe and lost it before I could make some I have tried corn tortillas and I don't really like them (they work okay for tacos, but I'd like something softer for things like enchaladas). Could someone please post their tortilla recipes?
  12. I know regular Sweet Tarts are safe (confirmed via e-mail in May), but I'm not positive about the chews. Also Progresso is one of the companies that will list if gluten is used in the product. I think that it is too soon to expect to see/feel results. The recovery time just depends on how much intestinal damage has been done. Because I had a lot of damage...
  13. Since everyone here has been so helpful to me, I thought some of you might be able to help my cousin. She has 3 young boys (4, 3, and 23 months), and I think they all need to be tested for celiac. The child that I am really concerned about is the 3 y/o. Although he has been growing in height, he has actually lost 2 lbs since his 1st b-day. He currently weighs...
  14. I was in a situation similar to yours just 6 weeks ago. I have since gone through allergy testing, which came back negative for everything (although my doc somehow misplaced my results when I asked to see them). So, I decided to eliminate soy and dairy (at the suggestion of the smart people on this board), and I saw/felt a huge improvement. I was recently...
  15. I honestly don't know; I think it would depend on how I was feeling at the time. Yesterday, I had a seizure after mistakenly ingesting a small amount of gluten. But, at the same time, I've had low blood sugar problems in the past (not diagnosed as hypoglycemic yet, but drs are considering it). So it's a catch-22 situation for me.
  16. I love them because it gives the server and chef something to look at, and it saves me time because I don't have to go as in-depth with my verbal explanation.
  17. I often experience the same gas stuff
  18. That sounds really good
  19. I'm the only gluten-free person in my house, and it has never been a problem. It sounds like you are doing an excellent job of keeping everything clean, so your family should be okay.
  20. I hate it when people point out my weight. Today, I bought a whole bunch of food at the grocery store, and one of they girls behind me wispered to her friend, "I don't know why she's buying all that food, it's not like she's going to eat it" and the other girl made a comment about how gross I looked. I wanted to tell them that I don't want to look like this...
  21. Thanks. I'm going to order one from them, but I wanted to know what you had them engrave on it. I was thinking something like my name, Celiac Disease (or should I put Gluten intolerant, or both?), dairy intolerant.
  22. Welcome Chloe ( I love your name)! I remember when I had braces, I ate a lot of mashed potatoes, jello with small fruit pieces in it (just let it sit out for a few minutes before eating it, so that it's not too cold), and over cooked pasta (I wasn't gluten-free at the time, but I'm sure you could use gluten-free pasta instead). I had to have my jaw wired...
  23. I've never had any problems with it and I drink the berry flavor all the time.
