  1. I got a chance to go last week. It's so good! Plan on bringing home leftovers, the portions are large. YUMMY!!!! My group ordered the pizza, lasagna, and lemon chicken. Very happy with the pizza, an actual crust. The lasagna was cheesie, (not al dente) - Just the way I like it cheesie. Very good lemon chicken and the mashed potatoes we just...
  2. The men's swimming relay race was AWESOME! Started with some trash talk to get everyone fired up. Beat the old world record by 4 seconds. I think even the fifth place finishers beat the old world record. WOW!
  3. Jegstar- You always impress me with drive to learn about these subjects. Ursa- You have such class in your presentation of information. We could debate FOREVER. Are all cancers the same? What is the cure? What prevents cancer? What causes it? Until science proves these answers we should be "thinking outside of the box", because the standard approach...
  4. I hope every thing went well at Bri's appointment. Did they do further testing? I'm on the vomit/throw up/ sprue posts today because my 6 year old just got out of the hospital Sunday after vomitting blood. She had a viral infection (unknown virus) and the "non-diagnoses" of the whole event "could possibly be" mesenteric adenitis. So get Bri back to...
  5. I can't find Berry Berry Kix cereal anywhere!
  6. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
  7. Wow, that was incredibly sweet! I wish every person I meet could be half as nice! It's funny how getting diagnosed turns your life upside down. Every day life changes, even what toothpaste to brush your teeth with! You can find the worst in people/family you thought were your friends. You have to turn to strangers on a chat room for help. I may...
  8. Thank you for letting me know. Has anyone tried it yet? Laura
  9. Some of the different symptoms are from the vitamin and mineral defiencies.
  10. There are many things that can cause anemia. You still need tests to find out what is causing the anemia. Since you've started the gluten free diet - any tests for Celiac will be inconclusive. Pernicious anemia is connected to Celiac disease. Find a doctor that will work with you to find out what is causing such severe anemia. Good luck. For...
  11. My sister works in a hospital and it is very common fo a multitude of problems after by-pass surgery. I have heard of an increase of Celiac diagnoses after the surgery, to the point it may be in the fine print of possible side affects of the surgery. Which came first, Celiac or surgery? Our health system better wake up and start screening people for Celiac...
  12. I have Hashi's too. L.
  13. When you do get to the health food store, your taste buds need to adjust. The first few gluten free items will taste bland and the texture is different too. Try some of the replacement things after 4 months if you can wait. Until then stick to the naturally gluten free foods. Gluten free bread tastes much better grilled or toasted.
  14. You can try genetic testing to see if your child has any of the known Celiac genes. It won't be an "official" diagnoses, and will not be 98% accurate either. Long story but after Prometheus labs did the testing and we had questions, they feel any blood drawn test has at least a 30% error rate. It is up to you how to proceed, but sounds like you know...
  15. How southwest Michigan are you thinking?
  16. Your pediatrician should be doing more to help you than pushing you into something. Sounds like you have concerns that were never followed up on i.e. stomach issues and weight gain. Do your research, make an informed decision, and find a pediatrician who works with you and respects your decision. (I also reccomended both sites. You can view package inserts...
  17. You only have one neighbor brat? I'll trade houses with you in a heartbeat! Apples don't fall far from trees, I'd leaf/leave this family alone. Plant a hedge if possible to buffer the noise, and as a bonus you don't have to see the neighbors and if the neighbors ever want to visit you they will have to walk around to the front of the house. (People...
  18. Have you checked all of your hygeine products i.e. tooth paste, lip gloss/ chapstick, shampoo? Not that anyone intentionally ingests shampoo, but it does happen. I was feeling sick and went through the products I was using, there was barley in the deodorant. Don't ask my how that cross-contamination happens!!? By the way the closest thing I can think...
  19. Welcome to the board! I have been ordering some of our favorite dry mixes from Amazon. If you go through Goddsearch/Goodshop a portion of your purchase goes to a listed charity of your choice. I was in a co-op and I could save a lot of money buying in bulk. Always check your local health food store, they have sales too. You might be able to work...
  20. I was eating gluten while breastfeeding my daughter and her stool was green mucus too. Studies have shown gluten is passed through the breastmilk. She was gene tested and has both DQ2 and DQ8 Celiac genes. ( Since I would not risk her health for the "gold standard" diagnoses she was labeled as probable Celiac. Positive blood tests.) Find a different...

    ARCHIVED Mad Mother?

The others have all ready posted about the obvious errors that doctor has made regarding Celiac/ intolerance and or wheat or gluten allergy. The gall of a doctor who looks at a patient (for what a whole 15 minutes?) to disregard what the parent, constant caregiver, has to say about symptoms is absurd! You may not have a medical degree, BUT YOU KNOW YOUR...
  22. There are other medical reasons for the skin to start to discolor. See your/a doctor and have a complete list of your symptoms ready. Would it be possible to find a picture of yourself before the skin color change? Are you craving any types of foods? Weight loss or gain?
  23. My personal favorite.... "You're too young to have Celiac." (let's just say 30 something for my age at the time) said the gastroentronoloist that had just completed my endoscopy with biopsy. Meanwhile... My 16 month old was going through the testing too. Myhusband and I were just thinking (AGAIN) about getting our kids shirts that say something like...
  24. I've seen it on amazon. If you are going to order you can go through goodsearch . com and donate a percentage of your net purchase to a charity that you choose.
  25. I suggest you get some glaceau vitamin water (calcium, potassium and magnesium added) and some sublingual B12 supplements. The supplements should be easily absorbed taht way and you should notice some improvement. I've had my head feel like alka seltzer fizz before, so I know what your talking about. I think you might be anemic for that symptom. I...
