ARCHIVED Suspect Celiac In My 6 Mo Old...
mommida replied to inskababy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter's first symptom of Eosinophilic Esophagitis was vommitting blood. If there are other severe unexplained symptoms - an endoscopy might have to be done. Do your research, get a pediatric gastro. that you trust and feel comfortable with. Remember to follow your doctor's medical advice. What we can give here is support and opinion from our experiences... -
ARCHIVED N.a.e.t ~ Anyone Tried?
mommida replied to loxleynew's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
We had some one on the board here (I think it might have been Gluten free in Nebraska - but it was shortened of hyphenated) that said she was cured. She left the board some time ago and I can't remember what she said cured her. I truely think some things are 90% mental. Some ancient texts, old wives tales have been proven by modern science to be true.... -
ARCHIVED Could All My Symptoms Be Caused By Celiac?
mommida replied to HelpinOhio's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds like you have done your homework! Find a great doctor and get tested. For Celiac, Lupus, Lyme Disease, thyroid, and any other auto-immune that could fit the symptoms. These things aren't easy to diagnose. Take your list of symptoms to the doctor. Start a food journal too. It will help you start to read labels and find any food intolerances... -
ARCHIVED Suspect Celiac In My 6 Mo Old...
mommida replied to inskababy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes it is possible a 6 month old can have Celiac - don't let a doctor tell you different. I am concerned about the intusseception. There is a known connection to the Rotavirus vaccine. (The first vaccine was removed from the market because of it. The newer vaccine has an acceptable level of intusseception causes because the numbers were adjusted to include... -

Can you please post more information if you continue with the treatment? I can't find any one who finished the treatment or who wasn't a friend of a friend. -
Hey my husband's company has a possible relocation job opening there. They moving package $$ is not nearly enough to cover the the loss we will have to take trying to sell our house here in MI. The ways things are going it still might be an option we have to consider. So let me know what you find out. Laura

ARCHIVED Selling Home (fsbo)
mommida replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I heard trying to sell by owner is nearly impossible in Utah. I know there are some ways to use the net for advertising. Craig's list, cheap cycle, zillow are free listings. There are some on-line sites and services you have to pay for. Good luck! -

This is my second month ordering. I didn't want to go through any special fuss, so I asked a friend to join. She orders the basic box and I order ameat box and the fruit and veggie box. I didn't see anything list about "allergen box". Is it new for the next month's menu? -
ARCHIVED Am I A Bad Mom For Not Letting Them Biopsy My 16 Month Old?
mommida replied to Stacielovas's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A few of our younger Celiacs here have found out they had other issues with Celiac. My daughter was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. It's been some time but a younger guy had surgery to his entire digestive system. If I remember right, his organs were in reverse position. Two examples off the top of my head. These are in no way proven to have... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Tell Me If This Is Really Bad?

If you are going for the gold standard diagnoses, DO NOT stop eating gluten until this is done. Call your doctor to see how you are going to proceed. -
ARCHIVED Why Is Endoscopy Still "the Gold Standard"?
mommida replied to jacflash's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
An endoscopy can rule out any other conditions that may also be present. Other conditions that could also be present include... overgrowth of yeast, H. Ployri, parasites, abnormalities of the the digestive system (celiac3270's story from the board), and other disorders that have yet to be linked to Celiac. I know from making this decision as a parent how... -
ARCHIVED Dr. Wakefield Trial (mmr/autism Possible Link)
mommida replied to AndreaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am in no way suggesting anyone read or by a book by Offit. The Cutter incident had court rulings that the Salk Polio vaccine was proven cause of Polio and money damages were awarded to Polio victims. -
ARCHIVED Dr. Wakefield Trial (mmr/autism Possible Link)
mommida replied to AndreaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If you research Cutter incident you will find some disturbing facts on Polio Vaccine. It involves the Salk vaccine, and rarely receives mention. -
ARCHIVED Will I Definitley Gain Weight?
mommida replied to Nicole H.'s topic in Related Issues & Disorders
There is still a chance that you could lose weight. If your Potasium and Magnesium levels were out out of whack your body could have been retaining water. With your energy level being higher and not having as much joint pain you will be able to be more physically active too. Welcome to the board! -
ARCHIVED What's Your Favorite Egg?
mommida replied to luv2cook's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I heard people use applesauce, gelatin, and a mixture of baking powder and vinegar to replace eggs. I really need to know how to replace eggs too. My daughter has to avoid all the top eight allergens and of coarse gluten too. -
ARCHIVED Ee And Celiacs Disease
mommida replied to bear6954's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My daughter was diagnosed with "probable" Celiac at 17 months and EE December '08 at the age of 6. EE is supposed to feel like severe GERD. As you know part of the treatment is to have steroids to heal the damage, and it does seem to clear up some of the symptoms. You did not mention if there were any biopsies taken during the endoscope. Part of the... -
ARCHIVED Dr. Wakefield Trial (mmr/autism Possible Link)
mommida replied to AndreaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Wakefield seems to be taking the blame for less MMR vaccinations. People could be choosing not to vaccinate for other reasons. Religous or contraindictions from the vaccine package insert. Andrew Wakefield has not started any new religion or chosen all of the ingredients for the MMR vaccine. (To the best of my knowledge.) In my opinion he can not take... -

ARCHIVED Friend's Husband Has Wheat Allergy.
mommida replied to Roda's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There are some products by Enjoy Life that are free of all top allergens (snack bars, candy bars, the chocolate chips are awesome!) Very nice for avoiding gluten and eggs. Tinkyada pastas are my favorite. Glutino products are very good. These are gluten free so read the labels for the rest of the allergens. There are plenty of good things to eat, but... -
Here in the Detroit area they just covered a story about WORMS. Worms from pork products that have invaded peoples BRAINS!!!!!!!!!! Most of this type of infection is in third world countries, but the southwest United States is having an alarming increase. Then they showed the surgeon pulling this monster worm out of this woman's BRAIN. After...

Hi, I can not tolerate most "one a day" vitamin supplements. (Even ones that are determined to be gluten free) I have narrowed it down to the iron. They do make me vomit and feel quite ill. At first the time between taking the supplement (and vommitting) was longer but after some time when I figured out the vitamins made me sick it was 15 minutes after...

ARCHIVED 2 New Choices In Macomb County, Michigan
mommida replied to mimommy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
You are really close to Lifemart on M-59. They have a lot of gluten free food choices and a small fresh deli. Find some of your favorites and look on line for in bulk ordering (think large book seller - web sites that sell items get flagged and show up as lame advertisement). It saves me time and money. You can take the drive out to Celiac Specialties...
