  1. The cupcake mixes bake in the microwave oven. The plastic parts in the package are for frosting and decorating. THIS WOULD BE GREAT FOR ANY CELIAC CHILD who might need an emergency gluten free treat to fit in with b-day party celebrations and such. My advice if your son has an interest in this, get some permanent makers and make it whatever colors/design...
  2. My daughter swears that the McCain's products make her sick.
  3. We had some gluten free cat treats in the house. (This cat needs to be trained, and I was desparate. I can't believe a little 3 ounce bag could be such a nightmare.) Flash forward - my poor daughter has been vomitting on and off for two months. She had to go to the E.R. and have an IV with meds to settle her stomach down after vommitting all Sunday. ...
  4. That is a huge mistake that we make. Just because the student knew the attackers and the attack took place in a school, does not mean this wasn't a crime. I don't know the legal terms but I have heard of assault with a deadly weapon. Yes. I have heard of deaths when Celiac was listed as the cause. One was Kid Rock's close friend and one was a 14 year...
  5. I have had GT since my teens and it did improve some since going gluten-free. Doctors don't have a pill to prescribe, so I think that's when they term it benign. There is speculation that vitamin or nutrient defiencies contribute or cause it. So if you find something that works, let me know. Laura
  6. The company that makes the mixes is called Food-Tek. I met them at a few gluten free food fairs. They are knowledgeable about gluten and cross contamination. Every food manufacturer is going to have standard CYA statement if they understand cross contamination. You can order microwaveable gluten free and casein free food items at www. foodtek .com...
  7. Pamela's baking mix has the chocolate chip cookie recipe on the bag. Gluten eaters ask me to bake cookies for them, and they sold out at the bake sale. People (gluten eaters) even asked me for the recipe. I like to make a double batch with walnuts, semi- sweet and sweet chocolate chips. (get half of the chip as chunks if possible). I don't flatten the...
  8. Are there any changes noticeable to your tongue? Do you have a geographic tongue? Vitamin defencies can cause changes to your tongue and taste. It can also be a symptom of too much copper in some cases. Laura
  9. That tiredness and dizziness can be symptoms of anemia. Low iron is associated with Celiac. Unfortunately I am having the same symptoms with a viral inner ear infection. Try and keep your body going with vitamin supplements. I hope your testing goes quickly, so your healing can begin.
  10. I have to use a belt. I have no butt left and if the jeans slip below the gut line, they will be around my ankles in now time.

    ARCHIVED Buddy's Pizza

Well I know three places to get gluten free pizza. Celiac Specialties (I think the location is) 23 Mile and Jefferson. (I haven't been there in a while.) GFCucinas on Mound Road in Sterling Heights. and Paisano's Pizza in Lake Orion on Baldwin Road at Maybee.
  12. The beauty industry has been in a state of buy outs. (the last 15 years at least) It is hard to say right now who owns which company line. I stopped keeping track. After the buy outs some products are not made or have had formulation changes to the point they shouldn't use the same name. I have to say a 13 year hair spray would not be the same even if...
  13. Has anyone heard of Web-bot? It is a computer spider that searches the www. It was invented for stock predictions. It taps into the collective unconsciosness of people to make predictions. The Web-bot has predicticted a major incident for October 7, 2008. (I had originally heard October 5th) The event is said to be as dramatic to life as we know it...
  14. MILs in general are a rotten bunch. She is overstepping her bounds when it comes to YOUR children. She does not have the right to take them any where without your permission. Pay a babysitter. Your husband is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
  15. At fifteen months all the testing that can be done (except the genetic test) has been done. The tests are unreliable especially for under 24 months. The genetic test may not be covered by insurance and there have been people diagnosed with Celiac even though their genetic test was negative. If you start the gluten free diet you can not do further testing...
  16. From what I can guesstimate from the calendar dates this ultra sound was done at the 5 or 6th week of pregnancy? I can tell you my personal experience... My first appointment the blood draw HCG results were way to high for just one baby at that many weeks pregnant. I was called back for the ultrasound, size of younger pregnancy than 5 or 6 weeks and no...
  17. My daughter did the chewing and then spit out food. The ped. gastro. said it was from PICA, severe anemia, caused by Celiac. Her iron levels improved slowly and she stopped doing it. (Is the child going after ice cubes to chew?) If the child is new to a gluten free diet, that would easily explain the taste being off and the lack of appetite. Some of...
  18. If you're ever out towards the Lake Orion Area, Paisano's pizza on Baldwin Road at Maybee does a gluten free pizza. You can pick up a few gluten free mixes at the Urban Gourmet next door too. Cucina's is GREAT! I haven't been out to the new Lifesmart Foods off of M-59 (Sterling Heights) yet, but they just rebuilt a huge place after fire destroyed...
  19. Looks like we need a drink right NOW! Aren't we all on the gluten free team here? Let's find something that won't make some of us nearly crap our pants and beg to die. Cheers to mud in your eye!
  20. My daughter did that when she was first diagnosed. I brought it up to the ped. gasto. His opinion along with her blood tests, was PICA. When a person is anemic (low iron levels) there is the need to chew non food items. The need to do this chewing can be dangerous as non food items are involved. Hope our experience helps. Laura
  21. We have never had a reaction form the Glutino pizzas. Sorry to hear you had trouble with them.
  22. Our family is glutin free and for the "specialty" products we splurge on I order from Amazon. I was in a co-op before and saved money buying in bulk then too. You can make deals with some of the health food stores. They can give you a discount for buying by the case. The discount it worth it to them because A)gluten free is a life-long customer B...
  23. You just got a major lucky break by having that idiot as your doctor. To have enough proven for a Celiac diagnoses, and not have it go on your health record is perfect! Now you shouldn't be denied medical coverage or have to pay a higher premium!
  24. Just like the last poster said, the positive response to the diet is scientific enough for diganoses. The test results for the Celiac panel could have easily been skewed by the on again-off again gluten free diet. One micron of gluten can cause a reaction but no one knows how much gluten it takes to cause enough damage for a positive test result. Get checked...
  25. Sounds like your expecting. Did you check your gums? The gums usually engorge with blood during your cycle, but in early pregnancy they are really engorged. Good Luck!
